While conventional interferometric SAR (InSAR) technique is an excellent tool for displacement observation, it is only sensitive to one-dimensional deformation along the satellite's line-of-sight (LOS). Recently, a multiple aperture interferogram (MAI) technique has been developed to overcome this drawback. This method successfully extracted along-track displacements from InSAR data, based on split-beam InSAR processing, to create forward- and backward- looking interferograms, and was superior to along-track displacements derived by pixel-offset algorithm. This method is useful to measure along-track displacements. However, it does not only decrease the coherence of MAI because three co-registration and resampling procedures are required for producing MAI, but also is confined to a suitable interferometric pair of SAR images having zero Doppler centroid. In this paper, we propose an efficient and robust method to generate MAI from interferometric pair having non-zero Doppler centroid. The proposed method efficiently improves the coherence of MAI, because the co-registration of forward- and backward- single look complex (SLC) images is carried out by time shift property of Fourier transform without resampling procedure. It also successfully removes azimuth flat earth and topographic phases caused by the effect of non-zero Doppler centroid. We tested the proposed method using ERS images of the Mw 7.1 1999 California, Hector Mine Earthquake. The result shows that the proposed method improved the coherence of MAI and generalized MAI processing algorithm.

This paper describes the whole procedures to determine ice-induced global loads on the ship using measured full-scale data in accordance with the method proposed by the Canadian Hydraulics Centre of the National Research Council of Canada. Ship motions of 6 degrees of freedom (dof) are found by processing the commercial sensor signals named Motion Pak II under the assumption of rigid body motion. Linear accelerations as well as angular rates were measured by Motion Pak II data. To eliminate the noise of the measured data and the staircase signals due to the resolution of the sensor, a band pass filter that passes frequencies between 0.001 and 0.6 Hz and cubic spline interpolation resampling had been applied. 6 dof motions were computed by the integrating and/or differentiating the filtered signals. Added mass and damping force of the ship had been computed by the 3-dimensional panel method under the assumption of zero frequency. Once the coefficients of hydrodynamic and hydrostatic data as well as all the 6 dof motion data had been obtained, global ice loads can be computed by solving the fully coupled 6 dof equations of motion. Full-scale data were acquired while the ARAON rammed old ice floes in the high Arctic. Estimated ice impact forces for two representative events showed 7e15 MN when ship operated in heavy ice conditions.
This study presents the application of aerial photographs and KOMPSAT-1 Electro-Optical Camera(EOC) imagery in detecting the change of an urban area that has been rapidly growing. For the study, we used multi-time images which were acquired by two different sensors. For all of the images, the coordinate reference system and scale were first made identical through the 1st and 2nd geometric corrections and then image resampling were carried out to spatial resolution of 7m to detect changes under the same conditions. The Image Differencing was employed as a change detection technique. It was confirmed to be able to detect the changes of terrestrial surface like building, structure and road features from aerial photos and KOMPSAT EOC images with single band. The changes could be detected to some extent with the images acquired from different kinds of sensors as well as the same kinds of sensors.

We consider a Bayesian test of independence in a two-way contingency table that has some zero cells. To do this, we take a three-stage hierarchical Bayesian model under each hypothesis. For prior, we use Dirichlet density to model the marginal cell and each cell probabilities. Our method does not require complicated computation such as a Metropolis-Hastings algorithm to draw samples from each posterior density of parameters. We draw samples using a Gibbs sampler with a grid method. For complicated posterior formulas, we apply the Monte-Carlo integration and the sampling important resampling algorithm. We compare the values of the Bayes factor with the results of a chi-square test and the likelihood ratio test.
In the simulation output analysis, bootstrap method is an applicable resampling technique to insufficient data which are not significant statistically. The moving block bootstrap, the stationary bootstrap, and the threshold bootstrap are typical bootstrap methods to be used for autocorrelated time series data. They are nonparametric methods for stationary time series data, which correctly describe the original data. In the simulation output analysis, however, we may not use them because of the non-stationarity in the data set caused by the trend such as increasing or decreasing. In these cases, we can get rid of the trend by differencing the data, which guarantees the stationarity. We can get the bootstrapped data from the differenced stationary data. Taking a reverse transform to the bootstrapped data, finally, we get the pseudo-samples for the original data. In this paper, we introduce the applicability of bootstrap methods to the time series data having trend, and then verify it through the statistical analyses.
The purpose of this study is to estimate efficiency of environmental-friendly agricultural product by using Data Envelopment Analysis. A proposed method employs a bootstrapping approach to generating efficiency estimates through Monte Carlo simulation resampling process. The technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency, and scale efficiency measure of strawberry by pesticide-free certification is 0.967, 0.995, 0.968 respectively. However those of bias-corrected estimates are 0.918, 0.983, 0.934. We know that the DEA estimator is an upward biased estimator. In technical efficiency, average lower and upper confidence bounds of 0.807 and 0.960. According to these results, the DEA bootstrapping model used here provides bias-corrected and confidence intervals for the point estimates, it is more preferable.
Recently, particle filters have attracted attentions for nonlinear state estimation. They evaluate a posterior probability distribution of the state variable based on observations in simulation using so-called importance sampling. However, degeneracy phenomena in the importance weights deteriorate the filter performance. A new filter, Evolution Strategies Based Particle Filter, is proposed to circumvent this difficulty and to improve the performance. Numerical simulation results illustrate the applicability of the proposed idea.
