Because of steep rise of international energy cost in recent years, high efficiency has been emphasized in energy policy. As far as injection molding machine is concerned, hybrid method using hydraulic and electric systems became the key to this energy saving. The energy saving and molding reproducibility of hybrid injection molding process were shown experimentally. The power consumption of hybrid injection molding machine is reduced to 38% as compared with that of hydraulic machine. Furthermore, the molding reproducibility was shown for both methods.

The performance of injection molding machine's control system, such as reproducibility, repeatability, etc, is widely studied nowadays. Since screw stroke, injection cylinder body pressure and barrel temperature are the most important terms of injection unit, interval linearity and repeatability to each parameter are analyzed here. Barrel temperature is analyzed according to the repeatability of the thermocouple at $150^{\circ}C$, $210^{\circ}C$, $300^{\circ}C$ using a precise oven. The result temperature is within ${\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$ Through the reliability evaluation of the most important terms of injection unit, the method of evaluating the linearity and repeatability is proposed and verified.

In this study, we evaluated the surface roughness of mold and injected parts manufactured by polycarbonate (PC) injection molding. The mold surface was polished to produce six differentiated roughnesses with 12 areas using stones (#800, #1200), sandpapers (#800, #1200), and diamond compounds (#8000, #14000). Injected parts were created using 20mm/s injection speed, 80 bar holding pressure for 5 seconds, and $70^{\circ}C$ cooling water. Injected parts surface roughness (Sa) was measured randomly in 10 of 30 using an interferometer (NewView8000, zygo, USA). In the same way, mold surface was measured randomly 10 times on 12 polished areas. Surface roughness of molds and injected parts were compared, and a regression equation to predict mold surface roughness was proposed for specific injection molding parameters.
The injection molding process has high accuracy and good reproducibility that are essential for mass production at low cost. Conventional molding processes typically use the water-based mold heating and air cooling methods. However, in the nano injection molding processes, this semi-active mold temperature control results in the several defects such as air-flow mark, non-fill, sticking and tearing, etc. In order to actively control temperature of the molds and effectively improve the quality of the molded products, the novel nano injection molding system, which uses active heating and cooling method, has been introduced. By using the Peltier devices, the temperature of locally adiabatic molds can be controlled dramatically and the quality of the molded patterns can be improved.

Reproducibility of injection molding machines are studied at the study of this time. We applied computer aided engineering program so it could generate clamping force, about 1,500 kN, to the nozzle center part of flex link in tie-bar and at this time, we made sure condition of stress distribution and transformation quantity in flex link. The result of computer aided engineering transformation quantity was confirmed that transformation of top area was 247~257 kN and bottom areas was 273~279 kN and also was confirmed that the stresses are distributed in a range of 57~750 $N/mm^2$ from top to the bottom of the surface. This time we could confirm the condition of transformation quantity and stress distribution by enforcing the previously used structure analysis of flex link. And we utilized the reference data to establish important point of section for non destructive test overhaul.

We have replicated nanopillar arrays using injection molding process of active heating and cooling method by several peltier devices. The injection melding has a high accuracy ed good reproducibility that are essential for mass production at low cost. Conventional molding processes widely use the water-based mold heating and air cooling methods. However, in case of replication for nano-patterned structures, it caused several defects such as air-flow mark, non-fill, sticking and tearing. In this study, periodic nano-scale patterns are replicated by using injection molding with Peltier devices. Porous nano-scale patterns, which have pore diameter range from 120nm to 150nm, were fabricated by using anodizing process. Periodic nano-pore structures ( $20mm\;{\times}\;20mm$) were used as a mold stamp of injection molding. Finally, PMMA with nanopillar arrays was obtained by injection molding process. By using the Peltier devices, the temperature of locally adiabatic molds can be dramatically controlled and the quality of the molded patterns can be slightly improved.
The increase in automation facilities in the injection molding industry is a very important process control item. The most important item when constructing an unmanned machine using a take-out robot is the "mold opening stroke" of the mold. The injection molding machine control method is divided into hydraulic type and electric type, and there have been few studies on the mold opening distance according to the control method. In this study, the correlation was confirmed by increasing the injection speed to 20, 50, 80, and 100% for the three types of hydraulic control method, open loop and close loop, and electric control method. Through the experiment, the following results were obtained. (1) It can be seen that the reproducibility is excellent with the electric, close loop, and open loop control methods. (2) When the injection speed is set to 50%, the mold opening distance is 263.10~263.27 mm, which is the most reproducible. (3) As a result of ANOVA, both injection speed and mold opening distance showed a significant difference in the hydraulic control method (p<0.05), but it was verified through experiments that there was no significant difference in the electric control method. Based on these results, when electric control is selected rather than hydraulic control, the reproducibility of the mold opening distance is excellent, so it is thought that the taking-out robot can take the object out of the mold more safely.
PURPOSE. The accuracy of denture bases was compared among injection molding, milling, and rapid prototyping (RP) fabricating method. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The maxillary edentulous master cast was fabricated and round shaped four notches were formed. The cast was duplicated to ten casts and scanned. In the injection molding method, designed denture bases were milled from a wax block and fabricated using SR Ivocap injection system. Denture bases were milled from a pre-polymerized block in the milling method. In the RP method, denture bases were printed and post-cured. The intaglio surface of the base was scanned and surface matching software was used to measure inaccuracy. Measurements were performed between four notches and two points in the mid-palatal suture to evaluate inaccuracy. The palatine rugae resolution was evaluated. One-way analysis of variance was used for statistical analysis at ${\alpha}=.05$. RESULTS. No statistically significant differences in distances among four notches (P>.05). The accuracy of the injection molding method was lower than those of the other methods in two points of the mid-palatal suture significantly (P<.05). The degree of palatine rugae resolution was significantly higher in the injection molding method than that in other methods (P<.05). CONCLUSION. The overall accuracy of the denture base is higher in milling and RP method than the injection molding method. The degree of fine reproducibility is higher in the injection molding method than the milling or RP method.
