  • Fretting wear is one of the important degradation mechanisms of steam generator tubes in the nuclear power plants. Especially, impact fretting wear occurred between steam generator tubes and tube support plates or anti-vibration bar. Various tests have been carried out to investigate the wear mechanisms and to report the wear coefficients. Those are fruitful to get insight for the wear damage of steam generator tubes; however, most wear researches have concentrated on sliding wear of the steam generator tubes, which may not represent the wear loading modes in real plants. In the present work, impact fretting tests of steam generator tube were carried out. A wear progression model for impact-fretting wear has been investigated and proposed. The proposed wear progression model of impact-fretting wear is as follows; oxide film breaking step at the initial stage, and layer formation step, energy accumulation step and finally particle torn out step which is followed by layer formation in the stable impact-fretting progress. The wear coefficient according to the work-rate model has been also compared with one between tube and support.

  • With the diversified and enlarged softwares, the issue of software maintenance became more complex and difficult consequently, the cost of software maintenance took up the highest portion in the software life cycle. At the same time, in order to develop or use software for general computers the development environment will be changed to incorporate user-friendly 4GL (Fourth generation Language). Therefore, it is required to take a closer look at the languages such as COBOL, C, FORTRAN, PASCAL which have source code comprised of 4GL and investigate the method of analysis and reuse for program understanding since a lot of research has been done with these languages in program maintenance. The purpose of this paper is to propose reverse engineering tool in 4GL and find an effective way of understanding and maintaining the program by transforming source code comprised of 4GL to meta language and designing and implementing Document Generator, Report Generator, Module Generator, Code Translator for program understanding.

  • Pohang Wind Energy Research Center (PoWER-C) is developing a 3 MW Radial Flux Permanent Magnet (RFPM) Synchronous Generator for offshore Wind Energy Converter (WEC). The rotor rpm is 15.7 and the gear ratio is set to be 92.93. The nominal generator rpm at the rated load is about 1459. To reduce the switching loss in the power electronics, the maximum frequency is limited to 100 Hz. This requirement limits the number of pole to six or eight. Permanent magnet excitation is assumed for higher energy yield and higher efficiency. In this report, the requirements and the first efforts for the physics design are described.

  • The remaining life of generator stator winding has been the controversial issue amomg many experts in this area. The report from Japan claims that they can predict the remaining life of generator winding, while the North American has the negative opinion about it. This study aimed at verifying the validity of both Japanese criteria and North American argument on evaluation of generator winding insulation. Non destructive and destructive tests were performed on two hydro-generators. The test results showed that the trend analysis of stator winding insulation was the better option.

  • The purpose of this study is to explain the importance of Vibration Monitoring Device by introducing an example of Predictive Maintenance System using Condition Monitoring System of Hydro-turbine generator. Confirming vibration of generation equipment is commissioning procedure during equipment completion for checking guaranteed items. Data from Generator output range are used to determine output band to continue the performance of equipment. The Vibration Monitoring System is not absolute method of maintenance, but if it is used well with expert, it will be visible, data-analyzed, scientific maintenance more than others. And also, Condition Monitoring System is very important for remote controlled small hydro-power plant although most of it is installed in Large hydro-power plant.

  • In case of the hearing impairment with tinnitus and increased sound sensitivity, it is known that the patients tend to appeal the psychologically oriented social handicap rather than communication disability. The audiologist who is responsible for such patients in aural rehabilitation should pay special attention to the counseling techniques including tinnitus retain therapy (TRT), ear protector, noise generator, or specific acoustic training based on close cooperation and rapport. And then the audiologist should try to lessen their reaction to the tinnitus by using a hearing aid. This therapies tries to focus not a. total approach but a treatment to lessen the severity of tinnitus. This paper as a case report that a unilateral sharply slopped sensorineural hearing impaired person with tinnitus and increased sound sensitivity by using four channel digital signal processing (DSP) hearing aid with programming increment at low level (PILL).

  • Steam generator is one of the most important component of nuclear power plant, and it's integrity and reliability are to be assured to high level by pre-service inspection and in-service inspection. To improve the reliability of steam generator heat exchanger tubes and to secure the management of nuclear power plant safely, KHNP CRI recently has developed eddy current testing system for steam generator. KHNP CRI have performed a series of experimental verification and field application to confirm the performance of the developed ECT system in accordance with ASME Code requirements. The ECT system consists of a remote data acquisition unit, an ECT signal acquisition and analysis software, a water chamber robot controller and a probe push-puller. In this paper, we will details of the developed ECT system and the software and their experimental performance. And also we will report the field applying performance and the issues for further steps.

  • The evaporative cooling technology used in Wind generator stator has unique advantages. Combined with the structure of motor stator and operating conditions, this report based on the research project for the evaporative cooling sleeve of the 3.6MW wind generator, introduces the material requirements and structural characteristics of the sleeve, simulates on the stress, displacement and stability by finite analysis method, and tests the products experimentally. The research results show that the epoxy resin-glass materials have a higher strength and better insulation properties, but the evaporative cooling of the wind generator stator sleeve, because of its thin-walled, and the external pressure, so it's the less rigid. Should make full use of the motor stator core structure, increase its stiffness and improve the stability of the epoxy resin-glass sleeve, which for thin-walled the epoxy resinglass sleeve on the successful application of wind turbines has played an important role.
