Risk Assessment and Symptoms of Musculoskeletal Disorders in Melon Farm Workers (시설참외 재배작업의 근골격계 위험도 및 자각증상 호소율)

  • A high prevalence of farmer's work-related musculoskeletal disorders(MSDs) have been reported in precedent studies. To offer the basic data for reducing the melon farmer's MSDs, a questionnaire survey about MSDs symptoms and work loaded body part and video analysis by 3 checklist(REBA, RULA, OWAS) for musculoskeletal risk assessment were carried. 94 melon farmers for this questionnaire and 1 typical farm for risk assessment were participated. A total of 80.9% of the farmers reported musculoskeletal symptoms and 60.6% reported musculoskeletal symptoms over NIOSH standard. The mainly symptom body part is low back, knee and shoulders. Main risk factors in melon farm are awkward postures, heavey/frequent lifting and repetitive hand/arm motions. The high risk tasks induced by video analysis were harvesting, removing the sprouts and covering with rags. These result can be used practically for planning intervention strategy and programs to prevent farmer's MSDs.

Development of a Computer-assisted Cost Accounting System Prototype for Hospital Dietetics (병원 영양과의 재무관리 시스템 전산화 모델에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of the study were to assist foodservice managers in complex decision making by utilizing computerized cost accounting system and to relieve managers from repetitive and routine tasks so that more adequate patient care and consultation can be provided. The scope of the computer-assisted cost accounting system consists of budget, menu planning, purchasing, inventory, cost control and financial reporting. The content of the computerized system are summarized as follows ; 1) For budgeting monthly income was estimated by calculating unit cost of each meal and forecasting serving numbers. The actual serving numbers for patients and employees were totaled everyday, and utilized as the basic data base for estimating income and planning menu. The monthly lists of meal sensus were generated. 2) for menu planning concersion factors were computed based on the standarized recipe for 50 servings. Daily menus for patients and employees which include total amounts of each ingredient and cost analyzed information were generated. 3) Daily and monthly purchasing report for each food item classified by patient and employee meals were generated. 4) Inventory transactions such as recipts and issues were totalized daily for each stocked item, and monthly inventory reports were generated. 5) Cost analysis reports for each menu item were generated into two ways based on the budget coat as well as the purchasing cost. 6) Editing new recipes and updating food costs change to the data base were carried out. 7) Financial reports were generated monthly, first-half and second-half of the year, and yearly basis.

Factors Affecting the Job Performance of Clinical Laboratory Scientists

  • Clinical laboratory testing plays a crucial role in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of disease. Clinical laboratory scientists evaluate test results, develop and modify procedures, and establish and monitor programs, to ensure the accuracy of tests. It is clear that over the past decade the role of the clinical laboratory scientists has expanded and this process will be continued into the future. The purpose of this study is to clarify the factors influencing the job performance of clinical laboratory scientists and aim to provide the role and duties of clinical laboratory scientists. To examine the frequency of work context and the importance of task, the surveys were conducted on 168 clinical laboratory scientists. The questionnaire items were used 10 score by Likert scale. According to the results of this study, the important factor affecting the job performance was "Analyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results", and the next factors were "Establish and monitor quality assurance programs", "Enter data from analyzer into computer", "Calibrate and maintain equipment". And the factors of "repeating same tasks" and "spend time making repetitive motions" were answered the highest. This study will provide strategies for improving work environment, developing education curriculum and method, and role of clinical laboratory scientists. We must continually upgrade our knowledge, and identify the new trends in technology and science and accept changes.

Indirect Decentralized Learning Control for the Multiple Systems (복합시스템을 위한 간접분산학습제어)

  • The new filed of learning control develops controllers that learn to improve their performance at executing a given task , based on experience performing this specific task. In a previous work[6], authors presented a theory of indirect learning control based on use of indirect adaptive control concepts employing simultaneous identification and control. This paper develops improved indirect learning control algorithms, and studies the use of such controller indecentralized systems. The original motivation of the learning control field was learning in robots doing repetitive tasks such as on an asssembly line. This paper starts with decentralized discrete time systems. and progresses to the robot application, modeling the robot as a time varying linear system in the neighborhood of the nominal trajectory, and using the usual robot controllers that are decentralized, treating each link as if it is independent of any coupling with other links. The resultof the paper is to show that stability of the indirect learning controllers for all subsystems when the coupling between subsystems is turned off, assures convergence to zero tracking error of the decentralized indirect learning control of the coupled system, provided that the sample tie in the digital learning controller is sufficiently short.

  • The robot is an effective means to perform repetitive tasks quickly and accurately. It could be more effective in dangerous environments where human is difficult to access. The construction site is a dangerous environment with a high possibility of industrial accidents where heavy work is frequently carried out at a high place. In particular, an accident in the construction site is highly likely to lead to a severe disaster. Of course, various technologies are being developed to monitor the safety of workers in construction sites and prevent accidents, but there is a limit to eliminate the risk of accidents. Therefore, it is necessary to make efforts to replace workers exposed to dangerous environments with equipment or robots that could be controlled remotely in a more active way. In this study, Remote Precise Installation System was proposed to replace the workers exposed to the risk of accident at a high place during the bridge construction. Also, the conceptual design and analytical reviews of this system were carried out. Suppose Remote Precise Installation System is developed according to the derived concept and the target performance. In that case, this system is expected to be applied as a technology that can effectively replace the workers at the bridge construction site.

  • This paper introduces the progress and remaining tasks regarding the establishment of the record center led by the Ministry of Justice since 2015. The establishment of the record center requires long-term and repetitive mutual and organic agreements, reviews, and feedback processes that involve internal and external parties from multilateral areas. This paper is a summary of the major proceedings and results of each field. The cases introduced in this paper regarding the establishment of the Ministry of Justice Record Center are expected to be a useful and valuable resource for other institutions seeking to establish a record center.

Incivility experienced by nursing students in relations with nurses during clinical practice (현장실습 중 간호사와의 관계에서 간호대학생이 경험한 무례함)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the meaning of incivility experienced by nursing students in relations with nurses during clinical practice. Methods: This is a descriptive qualitative study that included thirty participants using convenience sampling in universities in S, J, Ch, and C provinces. Data saturation was achieved and methodological rigor was established. Qualitative content analysis was used to inductively determine categories. Results: The four categories derived from analysis were 'left alone at clinical field', 'treated as an assistant', 'not respected as a person' and 'ignored future dreams'. Conclusions: Nursing students continue to carry out repetitive, low-risk tasks, for which they are not properly trained due to the lack of practical guidance in clinical practice. During clinical practice, they are not respected as persons by nurses and are negatively influenced by nurse professionals. A solution to this requires organic cooperation and policy preparation at universities and hospital sites to improve practical training of nursing students.

Effective Policy Search Method for Robot Reinforcement Learning with Noisy Reward (노이즈 환경에서 효과적인 로봇 강화 학습의 정책 탐색 방법)

  • Robots are widely used in industries and services. Traditional robots have been used to perform repetitive tasks in a fixed environment, and it is very difficult to solve a problem in which the physical interaction of the surrounding environment or other objects is complicated with the existing control method. Reinforcement learning has been actively studied as a method of machine learning to solve such problems, and provides answers to problems that robots have not solved in the conventional way. Studies on the learning of all physical robots are commonly affected by noise. Complex noises, such as control errors of robots, limitations in performance of measurement equipment, and complexity of physical interactions with surrounding environments and objects, can act as factors that degrade learning. A learning method that works well in a virtual environment may not very effective in a real robot. Therefore, this paper proposes a weighted sum method and a linear regression method as an effective and accurate learning method in a noisy environment. In addition, the bottle flipping was trained on a robot and compared with the existing learning method, the validity of the proposed method was verified.

A Low-Cost Approach for Path Programming of Terrestrial Drones on a Construction Site

  • Robots for construction sites, although not deeply widespread, are finding applications in the duties of project monitoring, material movement, documentation, security, and simple repetitive construction-related tasks. A significant shortcoming in the use of robots is the complexity involved in programming and re-programming an automation routine. Robotic programming is not an expected skill set of the traditional construction industry professional. Therefore, this research seeks to deliver a low-cost approach toward re-programming that does not involve a programmer's skill set. The researchers in this study examined an approach toward programming a terrestrial-based drone so that it follows a taped path. By doing so, if an alternative path is required, programmers would not be needed to re-program any part of the automated routine. Changing the path of the drone simply requires removing the tape and placing a different path - ideally simplifying the process and quickly allowing practitioners to implement a new automated routine. Python programming scripts were used with a DJI Robomaster EP Core drone, and a terrain navigation assessment was conducted. The study examined the pass/fail rates for a series of trial run over different terrains. The analysis of this data along with video recording for each trial run allowed the researchers to conclude that the accuracy of the tape follow technique was predictable on each of the terrain surfaces. The accuracy and predictability inform a non-coding construction practitioner of the optimal placement of the taped path. This paper further presents limitations and suggestions for some possible extended research options for this study.

  • Construction processes are highly repetitive. A resource entity continuously cycles through work tasks that processes or uses resources. Web-CYCLONE (Halpin 1992) has been accepted as a useful tool for modeling and analyzing a specific operation. However the system has a lack of practicality as follows: (1) it does not efficiently record and keep track of operation models in a database; (2) it does not provide the functions which facilitate to retrieve corresponding model and to update local variables of the model using observed data; (3) it does not automate the complex process that executes simulation experiment, analyzes simulation outputs and generates a report on behalf of the practitioners. Therefore, practitioners have a difficulty in reusing, modifying and analyzing the existing operation models. This study introduces a Client/Server based CYCLONE that improves above-mentioned limitations in the existing Web-CYCLONE. The system was illustrated by revising CSPU in practice.
