GPS is one of today's most widely used surveying techniques. But, users can't acquire an enough accuracy in applications of the navigation or geodesy by the GPS positioning technique because of the effects of the ionosphere and troposphere. The solution of these restrictions in the DGPS technique that is to eliminate the common errors and can achieve a high accuracy. Although of sufficient density for good DGPS, accuracy of positioning is just not dense enough to provide complete coverage for real-time positioning, because distances between base and rover is short. In this paper, we suggest Realtime Long-Distance Transmission Method of DGPS Error Correction Signal, which consist of TCP, UDP and IP, which allows a user to increase the distance at which the rover receiver is located from the base, due to radio modem.
This paper presents a numerical simulation of the radar backscattering from oil spills on ocean surface. At first, a one-dimensionally rough sea surface is numerically generated for a given wind speed at HEBEI SPIRIT accident. Then, an oil-spilled sea surface is represented with a two-layered medium, which is generated by adding a thin low-dielectric oil layer on the randomly-rough highdielectric sea surface. The backscattering coefficients of various oil-spilled sea surfaces are obtained using the Method of Moments and Monte Carlo technique for various surface roughness, oil-layer thicknesses, frequencies, polarizations and incidence angles. The numerical method is verified with theoretical models for simple structures. The reduction of the backscattering coefficients due to the lowdielectric oil-layers on sea surfaces has been analyzed. These numerical results will help to detect any oil spills on sea surfaces, and consequently, to classify SAR images.

Sea surface temperatures (SSTs) estimated by using the operational SST derivation equations of NOAA/NESDIS were compared with satellite-tracked drifter temperatures. As a result of eliminating cloud-filled or contaminated pixels through several cloud tests, 69 matchup points between the drifter temperatures and the SSTs estimated with NOAA satellite 9, 10. 11 and 12 data from August, 1993 to July, 1994 were collected. Multi-channel sea surface temperature(MCSST) using a split window technique showed an approximately $1.0{\circ}C$ rms error as compared with the drifting buoy temperatures for 69 coincidences. Accuracies for satellete-derived sea surface temperatures were evaluated for only NOAA-11 AVHRR data which had relatively large matchups of 35points as compared with other satellites. For the comparison of the oberved temperatures with the calculated SSTs, linear MCSST and nonlinear cross product sea surface temperature(CPSST) algorithms by the split, the dual and the triple window technique were used respectively. As a result, the split window CPSSTs showed the smallest rms error of $0.72{\circ}C$. Defferences between the split window SSTs and the drifter temperatures appeared th have a linear tendency against the drifter temperatures and also against the differences between AVHRR channel 4 and 5 brighness temperatures. This indicates some possibilities that satelite-derived SSTs operationally calculated from the NOAA/NESDIS equation in the seas around Korea have been underestimated as compared with actural SSTs in case sea water temperature is relatively low or the atmosphere over the sea surface is very dry like in winter, while overstimated in case of high temperature or very moist atmospheric equations based on local sea measurements around Korea instead of global measurements should be derived.
High-resolution aerial color image offers great possibilities for geometric and semantic information for spatial data generation. However, shadow casts by buildings and trees in high-density urban areas obscure much of the information in the image giving rise to potentially inaccurate classification and inexact feature extraction. Though many researches have been implemented for solving shadow casts, few studies have been carried out about the extraction of features hindered by shadows from aerial color images in urban areas. This paper presents a asphalt road boundary extraction technique that combines information from aerial color image and LIDAR (LIght Detection And Ranging) data. The following steps have been performed to remove shadow effects and to extract road boundary from the image. First, the shadow regions of the aerial color image are precisely located using LEAR DSM (Digital Surface Model) and solar positions. Second, shadow regions assumed as road are corrected by shadow path reconstruction algorithms. After that, asphalt road boundary extraction is implemented by segmentation and edge detection. Finally, asphalt road boundary lines are extracted as vector data by vectorization technique. The experimental results showed that this approach was effective and great potential advantages.
The purpose of this paper is to establish the category of SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) systems, technologies and application fields, thus to provide the world-wide trend in SAR research and development activities by analysing SAR-related journal papers. This paper presents an analysis result of SAR-related journal papers published from the late 1960s to early 2005. Abstracts and indices of 2665 peer-reviewed, English journal papers published in 243 journals were collected from the Cambridge Scientific Abstracts and classified into the categories according to the system, technique, and application field. Statistics on each category were provided so that one can understand the historical and on-going development in SAR systems, techniques, and a variety of application fields such as land, ocean, cryosphere and atmosphere. This statistical analysis data would be a valuable guideline to establish a future SAR system application and satellite manoeuvering policy in Korea.

This study demonstrates the feasibility of small satellite, namely PROBA platform with the compact high resolution imaging spectrometer (CHRIS), for aerosol retrieval in Hong Kong. The rationale of our technique is to estimate the aerosol reflectances by decomposing the Top of Atmosphere (TOA) reflectances from surface reflectance and Rayleigh path reflectances. For the determination of surface reflectances, the modified Minimum Reflectance Technique (MRT) is used on three winter ortho-rectified CHRIS images: Dec-18-2005, Feb-07-2006, Nov-09-2006. For validation purpose, MRT image was compared with ground based multispectral radiometer measurements and atmospherically corrected Landsat image. Results show good agreements between CHRIS-derived surface reflectance and both by ground measurement data as well as by Landsat image (r>0.84). The Root-Mean-Square Errors (RMSE) at 485, 551 and 660nm are 0.99%, 1.19%, and 1.53%, respectively. For aerosol retrieval, Look Up Tables (LUT) which are aerosol reflectances as a function of various AOT values were calculated by SBDART code with AERONET inversion products. The CHRIS derived Aerosol Optical Thickness (AOT) images were then validated with AERONET sunphotometer measurements and the differences are 0.05~0.11 (error=10~18%) at 440nm wavelength. The errors are relatively small compared to those from the operational moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS) Deep Blue algorithm (within 30%) and MODIS ocean algorithm (within 20%).
With the increasing prevalence of high-resolution satellite images, the need for technology to generate accurate 3D information from the satellite images is emphasized. In order to create a digital terrain model (DTM) that is widely used in applications such as change detection and object extraction, it is necessary to extract trees, buildings, etc. that exist in the digital surface model (DSM) and estimate the height of the ground. This paper presents a method for automatically generating DTM from DSM extracted from KOMPSAT-3A stereo images. The technique was developed to detect the non-ground area and estimate the height value of the ground by using the previously constructed low-resolution topographic data. The average vertical accuracy of DTMs generated in the four experimental sites with various topographical characteristics, such as mountainous terrain, densely built area, flat topography, and complex terrain was about 5.8 meters. The proposed technique would be useful to produce high-quality DTMs that represent precise features of the bare-earth's surface.
In this paper, we present how to create a point cloud for a target area using multiple unmanned aerial vehicle images and to remove the gaps and overlapping points between datasets. For this purpose, first, IBA (Incremental Bundle Adjustment) technique was applied to correct the position and attitude of UAV platform. We generate a point cloud by using MDR (Multi-Dimensional Relaxation) matching technique. Next, we register point clouds based on observation vectors between stereo images by doing this we remove gaps between point clouds which are generated from different stereo pairs. Finally, we applied an occupancy grids based integration algorithm to remove duplicated points to create an integrated point cloud. The experiments were performed using UAV images, and our experiments show that it is possible to remove gaps and duplicate points between point clouds generated from different stereo pairs.
In Bangkok, Thailand, there is an increasing concern for ground subsidence with the rapid urbanization. Given the presence of flood vulnerability due to the flat low-lying topography and proximity to the river delta, it is particularly significant to monitor deformation that can potentially augment flood hazards. In this paper, we have applied persistent scatterer interferometric synthetic aperture radar (PSInSAR) technique to investigate subsidence in Bangkok with the use of Sentinel-1 acquisitions spanning from June 2018 to October 2021. The vertical displacement velocity obtained from both ascending and descending orbits revealed regional-scale subsidence at rates up to 30 mm/yr. In addition, ongoing subsidence was observed in the suburb areas with the localized vertical subsidence exceeding 80 mm. The areas are primarily industrial and agricultural sectors, thus, the ground subsidence detected is probably caused by groundwater withdrawal. However, further work is needed to diagnose the trends of aquifer resources.
Sea wind isrecently drawing attraction as one of the sources of renewable energy. Thisstudy describes a new method to produce a 10 m resolution sea wind field using Sentinel-1 images and low-resolution NWP (Numerical Weather Prediction) data with artificial intelligence technique. The experiment for the South East coast in Korea, 2015-2020,showed a 40% decreased MAE (Mean Absolute Error) than the generic CMOD (C-band Model) function, and the CC (correlation coefficient) of our method was 0.901 and 0.826, respectively, for the U and V wind components. We created 10m resolution sea wind maps for the study area, which showed a typical trend of wind distribution and a spatially detailed wind pattern as well. The proposed method can be applied to surveying for wind power and information service for coastal disaster prevention and leisure activities.
