Remote sensing technology has been continuously developed both quantitatively and qualitatively, including platform development, exploration area, and exploration functions. Recently, the use cases and related researches in the agricultural field are increasing. Also, since it is possible to detect and quantify the condition of cropland and establish management plans and policy support for cropland and agricultural environment, it is being studied in various fields such as crop growth abnormality determination and crop estimation based on time series information. The purpose of this study was to analyze the vegetation index for agricultural land reclamation area using a UAV equipped with a multi-spectral sensor. In addition, field surveys were conducted to evaluate the accuracy of vegetation indices calculated from multispectral image data obtained using UAV. The most appropriate vegetation index was derived by evaluating the correlation between vegetation index calculated by field survey and vegetation index calculated from UAV multispectral image, and was used to analyze vegetation index of the entire area.
Most research materials (data), which are used for the study of digital mapping and digital elevation model (DEM) in the field of Remote Sensing and Aerial Photogrammetry are aerial photographs and satellite images. Additionally, they are also used for National land mapping, National land management, environment management, military purposes, resource exploration and Earth surface analysis etc. Although aerial photographs have high resolution, the data, which they contain, are not used for environment exploration that requires continuous observation because of problems caused by its coastline, as well as single - spectral and long-term periodic image. In addition to this, they are difficult to interpret precisely because Satellite Images are influenced by atmospheric phenomena at the time of photographing, and have by far much lower resolution than existing aerial photographs, while they have a great practical usability because they are mulitispectral images. The PKNU 2 is an aerial photographing system that is made to compensate with the weak points of existing aerial photograph and satellite images. It is able to take pictures of very high resolution using a color digital camera with 6 million pixels and a color infrared camera, and can take perpendicular photographs because PKNU 2 system has equipment that makes the cameras stay level. Moreover, it is very cheap to take pictures by using super light aircraft as a platform. It has much higher resolution than exiting aerial photographs and satellite images because it flies at a low altitude about 800m. The PKNU 2 can obtain multispectral images of visible to near infrared band so that it is good to manage environment and to make a classified diagram of vegetation.
A mineral potential map showing the distributions of potential areas for exploration of undiscovered mineral deposits is a kind of predictive thematic maps. For any predictive thematic maps to show reasonably significant prediction results, validation information on prediction capability should be provided in addition to spatial locations of high potential areas. The objective of this paper is to apply prediction rate curves to the estimation of prediction probability of future discovery. A case study for Au-Ag mineral potential mapping using geochemical data sets is carried out to illustrate procedures for estimating prediction probability and for an interpretation. Through the case study, quantitative information including prediction rates and probability obtained by prediction rate curves was found to be very important for the interpretation of prediction results. It is expected that such quantitative validation information would be effectively used as basic information for cost analysis of exploration and environmental impact assessment.
The purpose of this study is the investigation of applicability of LSMA(Linear Spectral Mixture Analysis) on the geological uses with different radiometric and spatial types of sensor images such as Terra ASTER and LANDSAT 7 ETM+. As for the actual application case, geologic mapping for mineral exploration using ASTER and ETM+ at the Mongolian plateau region was carried out. After the pre-processing such as the geometric corrections and calibration of radiance, 7 endmembers, as spectral classes for geologic rock types, related to spectral signature deviation for the given application was determined by the pre-surveyed geological mapping information and the correlation matrix analysis, and total 20 images of ASTER and ETM+ were used to LSMA processing. As the results, fraction maps showing individual mineral types in the study area are presented. It concluded that this approach based on LSMA using ETM+ and ASTER is regarded as one of the effective schemes for geologic remote sensing.
The scientific objectives of PACRIM (Pacific Rim) are to advance the understanding of polarimetric and interferometric radar and to promote its application in environmental research designed to detect and quantify changes found in both the physical and humanly dominated ecosystems on the earth's surface. The information derived is used to more readily identify environments at risk; improve environmental decision making and the management of resources and thereby lead to the implementation of more effective and sustainable land use practices. PACRIM is a collaborative research project was organized by NASA's Mission to Planet Earth, Airborne Sciences Program; the Jet Propulsion Laboratory; CSIRO-COSSA and the Centre for Remote Sensing and GIS at the University of New South Wales. A decade of working with AIRSAR data (1993-2003) in the Australia-Asian-Pacific region has provided the opportunity for more than 400 investigators from 20 countries to collect, analyse, interpret and apply state-of-the-art radar data to earth-science studies. This has been achieved by scientists working within seven broad research themes; o Forestry and vegetation o Geology and tectonic processes o Interferometry o Disaster management o Coastal analysis o Agriculture o Urban and regional development. This paper presents an overview of the three data acquisition missions (1993,1996 and 2000) and the science research outcomes achieved from analyzing high quality radar data.

This paper investigated and evaluated the NASA's Shuttle Imaging Radar-C (SIR-C) multiple frequency SAR data for differential backscattering effects of microwave from the surface geological materials overlying the skarn type mineralization. Although an integrated approach in mineral exploration is more cost effective and is well in use, there are still many technical and scientific issues to be further investigated and researched. In this study we have reprocessed several sets of previously surveyed exploration data and experimented with fuzzy logic digital fusion of the preprocessed data with respect to chosen exploration targets. Among the numerous fuzzy logic operators, which are currently available for a data driven integrated exploration strategy, we used varying combinations of fuzzy MIN, fuzzy MAX, and fuzzy SUM operators along with Gamma operator for fusion of exploration data, including the contact metamorphic zone information. The final exploration target tested was a skarn type W-Mo-F mineralization in the study area. The fuzzy logic derived mineral potential anomaly almost exactly matched the differential backscattering anomalies on the C-band and L-band SIR_C data when overlaid on each other. Although this high degree of correlation between these two data sets is remarkable, the differential backscattering anomaly over the skarn type W-Mo-F mineralization in the study area requires further investigation.
A drone platform built by Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM) is introduced. The platform consists of various drone systems developed at KIGAM for photogrammetry, remote exploration, physical exploration, field operation methods, a vehicle-based drone control center, as well as a drone data platform for data storage, sharing, analysis, and visualization of the acquired data. The performance of the drone platform is verified using results obtained with the various systems, which are tested individually and in various combined applications. Finally, the possibility of using the KIGAM drone platform for geological surveys and mineral resource exploration is discussed.

With the construction of the northern line of the East Sea in 2021, expectations for peaceful use of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) are rising. Accordingly, it is necessary to prepare for leisure tourism activities at nearby beaches using the Demilitarized Zone as a security ecological tourism. However, despite the increase in the amount of ultraviolet rays on the surface due to the destruction of the ozone layer, there are no guidelines for UV exposure. In this paper, the amount of ultraviolet reflection on the coast adjacent to the DMZ using remote exploration was measured and analyzed. It is hoped that the presented results will be used as basic data to prepare UV guidelines for leisure tourism activities in nearby areas.
Quantification of carbon absorption and understanding the human induced land use changes forms one of the major study with respect to global climatic changes. An attempt study has been made to quantify the carbon absorption by land use changes through remote sensing technology. However, it focused on past carbon absorption changes. So prediction of future carbon absorption changes is insufficient. This study simulated land use change using the Conversion of Land Use and its Effects at Small regional extent (CLUE-S) model and predicted future changes in carbon absorption considering climate change scenarios 4.5 and 8.5 of the Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP). Results of this study, in the RCP 4.5 scenarios there predicted to be loss of 7.92% of carbon absorption, but in the RCP 8.5 scenarios was 13.02%. Therefore, the approach used in this study is expected to enable exploration of future carbon absorption change considering other climate change scenarios.
In developing algorithms to retrieve the sea surface temperature (SST) and sea surface wind speed from the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer (AMSR) aboard the AQUA and the Advanced Earth Observation Satellite-II (ADEOS-II), data from the SeaWinds aboard ADEOS-II were helpful. Since features of the ocean microwave emission (Tb) related with ocean wind are not well understood, in case of using only AMSR data, combination of AMSR and SeaWinds revealed pronounced features about the ocean Tb. Two results from combinations of the two sensors were shown in this paper. One result was obtained at wind speeds over about 6m/s, in which the ocean Tb varies with the air-sea temperature difference, even though the SeaWinds wind speed is fixed at the same values. The ocean Tb increases as the air-sea temperature difference becomes negative, i.e., the boundary condition becomes unstable. This result indicates that the air temperature should be included in AMSR SST algorithm. The second result was obtained from comparison of two wind speeds between AMSR and SeaWinds. There is a small difference of two wind speeds, which might be related with several mechanisms, such as evaporation and plankton.
