  • Beginning of the human ecology in 1920s, the efforts for applying the environmental values to a policy have been embodied by the enactments of international agreement and relevant laws. The government has been struggling to adopt the environmental values for the policy by enacting the relevant laws and establishing the environmental value evaluation information (environmental conservation value assessment map, eco-natural map, biotope map). In spite of the efforts to apply the environmental value assessment information for the habitat potential of wildlife, the application is being challenged by the discrepancy in methods and criteria. Thus this study intends to measure the potential of wildlife habitat and apply it to the spatial value classification for the application plan of wildlife habitat potential in policy. Maxent was used for the habitat potential and the land types were classified depending on the surface and land use pattern of cadastral map. As a result, the policy matrix including conservation strategy(CS), restoration strategy(RS), practical use strategy(PS) and development strategy(DS) has been deduced as CS $13.05km^2$(2.38%), RS $1.64km^2$(0.30%), PS $162.42km^2$(29.57%) and DS $8.56km^2$(1.56%). CS was emerged mostly on forest valleys and farmlands, and RS was appeared in the road area near the conservation strategy areas. Boryung downtown and Daecheon Beach were the center of DS, while the forest and farmlands were presented as PS. It is significant that this study suggest the new approaching method by comparing the wildlife habitat potential with the land type. Since this study evaluated the environmental value by one species of leopard cat (Prionailurusbengalensis) with Maxent model, it is necessary to apply the habitat potential measuring method for various target species as further research.

  • This review was conducted to analyze the current situation of aromatherapy research and to provide novel approach to the application of aromatherapy in Korean medicine. We reviewed peer-reviewed research articles published in Korean journals since 1998 up to 2010 related to the medical use of aromatherapy. We searched six electronic database to find all relevant articles using the terms "aromatherapy", "aroma" in English and Korean, and hand searched relevant journal articles. Among 180 identified articles, 115 clinical trials and 28 articles related to the Korean medicine were analyzed. Results showed that the articles on aromatherapy increased steeply during 2001~2004 in various study fields. The clinical studies with psychological disorders (57 articles) and women (42.7%) are reported most frequently. Though the Korean medicine tried to adopt aromatherapy earlier than other fields for the similarity, but there had not been quite a number of studies supporting the clinical applications. Several herbs like frankincense, jasmine, neroli and sandalwood are using in both Korean medicine and aromatherapy. There were many attempts to combine aromatherapy and Korean medicine but still more studies are needed. Aromatherapy have been studied in many research fields with various medical applications. There have been efforts to deploy aromatherapy to the clinical use and the potential value for the clinical practice of Korean medicine can be examined with more rigorous and innovative studies.

  • The term "big data" has recently gained widespread attention in the field of information technology (IT). One of the key challenges in making use of big data lies in finding ways to uncover relevant and valuable information. The high volume, velocity, and variety of big data hinder the use of solutions that are available for smaller datasets, which involve the manual interpretation of data. Semantic computing technologies have been proposed as a means of dealing with these issues, and with the advent of linked data in recent years, have become central to mainstream semantic computing. This paper attempts to uncover the state-of-the-art semantics-based approaches and tools that can be leveraged to enrich and enhance today's big data. It presents research on the latest literature, including 61 studies from 2011 to 2014. In addition, it highlights the key challenges that semantic approaches need to address in the near future. For instance, this paper presents cutting-edge approaches to ontology engineering, ontology evolution, searching and filtering relevant information, extracting and reasoning, distributed (web-scale) reasoning, and representing big data. It also makes recommendations that may encourage researchers to more deeply explore the applications of semantic technology, which could improve the processing of big data. The findings of this study contribute to the existing body of basic knowledge on semantics and computational issues related to big data, and may trigger further research on the field. Our analysis shows that there is a need to put more effort into proposing new approaches, and that tools must be created that support researchers and practitioners in realizing the true power of semantic computing and solving the crucial issues of big data.

  • Recently, with the introduction of social network services, studies that try to make use of them for the various purposes have been actively investigated. In order to proceed with the research that takes advantage of social network services, it is necessary to review the relevant literature and to identify trends in researches. However, the researches of social network are massive amount, so to review the huge amount of relevant research literature is a very difficult task. Therefore, in this study, we analyze systematically the tendency of research related to social network service focusing on Twitter. Especially, we use the SLR (Systematic Literature Review) technique for systematic literature survey and analysis. For the literature survey, we select korean literature resource sites and 243 studies of literature that are surveyed. Studies and analyzes on Twitter in a variety of research studies were also using Twitter data that way beyond the simple question directly.

  • As software grows more complex, it contains more bugs that are not recognized by developers. Attackers can then use exploitable bugs to penetrate systems or spread malicious code. As a representative method, attackers manipulated documents or multimedia files in order to make the software engage in unanticipated behavior. Recently, this method has gained frequent use in A.P.T. In this paper, an automatic analysis method to find software security bugs was proposed. This approach aimed at finding security bugs in the software which can arise from input data such as documents or multimedia. Through dynamic taint analysis, how input data propagation to vulnerable code occurred was tracked, and relevant instructions in relation to input data were found. Next, the relevant instructions were translated to a formula and vulnerable input data were found via the formula using an SMT solver. Using this approach, 6 vulnerable codes were found, and data were input to crash applications such as HWP and Gomplayer.

  • An increase in patients' medical expenses for their injury. accident and intoxication is a major challenge to improve the sustain-ability of a national health security system, and increasing medical expenses need be suppressed through improving relevant systems and/or efficiently operating and managing the health insurance. At this juncture, in Korea which has a high rate of injury incidence and mortality, it is necessary to estimate social and/or economic costs for injuries with a focus on their social effects. This research has examined the results of a Korea medical panel investigation conducted in 2008, which largely surveyed of the actual conditions of outpatients' medical use for their injury, accident and/or intoxication and investigated relevant medical expenses, with a view to estimating the directly incurred costs when the patients use medical services and the production loss costs caused by an production decline and others, so that social and/or economic costs for injuries may be ultimately aggregated.

  • As project opportunities for the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry have grown more complex and larger, the utilization of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies for three-dimensional (3D) design and simulation practices has been increasing significantly; the typical applications of the BIM technologies include clash detection and design alternative based on 3D planning, which have been expanded over to the technology of construction management in the AEC industry for virtual design and construction. As for now, commercial BIM software has been operated under a single-user environment, which is why initial costs for its introduction are very high. Cloud computing, one of the most promising next-generation Internet technologies, enables simple Internet devices to use services and resources provided with BIM software. Recently in Korea, studies to link between BIM and cloud computing technologies have been directed toward saving costs to build BIM-related infrastructure, and providing various BIM services for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This study addressed development of the usage metering functions of BIM software under cloud computing architecture in order to archive and use BIM data and create an optimal revenue structure so that the BIM services may grow spontaneously, considering a demand for cloud resources. For the reason, we surveyed relevant cases, and then analyzed needs and requirements from AEC industry. Based on the relevant cases, customizing for cloud BIM and design for the development was performed. We also surveyed any related-law to support cloud computing-based BIM service. Finally, we proposed herein how to optimally design and develop the usage metering functions of cloud BIM software.

  • The main goal of this paper is to describe and analyse intensifiers, especially non-head-bound-intensifiers (NHBIs), which can be included in the discussion and analysis of these elements as focus particles. In doing so, NHBIs such as Korean susulo, casin/cache, English x-self and German selbst are dealt with in a rather cross-linguistical perspective. The pure and strict comparison between Korean, English and German is not intended. This paper is mainly concerned with the semantic domain where the respective contributions of the expressions in question overlap, which offers the common base for the discussion regarding Korean, one of the non-European languages and English and German, two European languages. They share the semantic domain ‘intensification’ regarding relevant subject-NP. They introduce an ordering distinguishing center and periphery. In contrast to head-bound-intensifiers (HBIs), however, NHBIs add self-involvement (directness of involvement) of subject-NP to the meaning of the relevant sentence. I adopt the proposals of Konig (1991), Primus (1992) and Siemund (2000) in the treatment of intensifiers as focus particles. However, I reject Konig (1991) that just NHBIs talre scope over a whole clause, Primus (1992) that NHBIs focus VPs, not NPs, and Siemund (2000) that NHBIs can be further devided into two groups, viz. NHBIs with exclusive readings and NHBIs with inclusive readings. Evidence for my position is presented mainly in the course of describing and analysing some syntactic properties and the meaning and use of NHBIs. I come to the conclusion that both the common meaning of intensifiers as focus particles and the common meaning of NHBIs of three languages can be represented by a simple logical formalism.

  • The rapid growth of electronic commerce increases the potential for conflicts over contracts which have been entered into online(e.g. about price, late delivery, defects, specifications...). Using arbitration as a dispute resolution alternative is becoming increasingly popular especially in cases involving intellectual property rights and technology disputes since speed and secrecy are essential. The use of online dispute resolution(ODR) mechanisms to resolve such e-commerce conflicts is crucial for building business, consumer confidence and permitting access to justice in an online business environment. However, the use of the Internet and the World Wide Web in dispute resolution has an impact on the types of communication implied in the relevant processes(negotiation, mediation and arbitration). This paper deals with legal issues with respect to the practice of online arbitration. The paper begins with a brief introduction to the theories behind arbitration. These sections will be followed by a discussion on the specifics of online arbitration and the problems the process faces online arbitration by the legal community.

  • We use the first-passage-time formulation by Torquato, Kim and Cule [J. Appl. Phys., Vol. 85, pp. 1560∼1571 (1999) ], which makes use of the first-passage region in association with the diffusion tracer's Brownian movement, and develop a new efficient Brownian motion simulation method to compute the effective conductivity of digitized composite media. By using the new method, one can remarkably enhance the speed of the Brownian walkers sampling the medium and thus reduce the computation time. In the new method, we specifically choose the first-passage regions such that they coincide with two, four, or eight digitizing units according to the dimensionality of the composite medium and the local configurations around the Brownian walkers. We first obtain explicit solutions for the relevant first-passage-time equations in two-and three-dimensions. We then apply the new method to solve the illustrative benchmark problem of estimating the effective conductivities of the checkerboard-shaped composite media. for both periodic and random configurations. Simulation results show that the new method can reduce the computation time about by an order of magnitude.
