콘크리트 보의 거동 측정을 위한 조합형 센서의 활용 (Application of Combined-Type Sensors for the Behavioral Measurement of Concrete Beams)

  • 본 연구에서는 일반 전기저항식 변형률센서 및 광섬유센서, 변위계를 이용하여 콘크리트 보의 거동특성을 연구하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 콘크리트 보를 제작하고 여기에 광섬유 및 일반 전기저항식 변형률센서를 표면에 부착 또는 내부에 매설하였고 또한, 보의 하면에는 변위계를 설치한 후 파괴에 이를 때까지 하중을 정적으로 점증시켜가면서 보의 하중단계별 거동을 조사하였다. 실험결과, 이 방식이 보의 거동을 조사하는 데 효과적임을 확인하였으며, 조합형 변형률센서가 보에 균열이 발생한 후의 거동을 파악하는데 매우 효과적임을 알 수 있었다. 아울러 보는 균열발생 전에는 인장부 콘크리트가 외력에 저항할 수 있으나 일단 균열이 발생한 후에는 보의 강성이 저하되어 처짐이 계속 증가되는 비선형거동을 하며, 이 때부터는 인장부 철근이 전적으로 외력을 담당하는 것을 본 연구를 통해 파악할 수 있었다.

  • 유리섬유를 사용한 섬유강화복합체(Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer, GFRP) 보강근의 인장강도 및 부착성능 등은 철근과 다르기 때문에 GFRP 보강근을 콘크리트 구조물에 적용하기 위해서는 GFRP 보강근으로 보강된 콘크리트 부재의 거동에 관한 연구가 선행되어야 한다. GFRP는 높은 비강도, 경량성, 비부식성 등의 장점을 가지고 있으나 탄성계수가 철근보다 작아 상대적으로 큰 처짐이 발생하는 단점이 있다. 교량 바닥판은 아칭효과 등에 의해 휨성능이 증가하므로 FRP 보강근을 우선 적용할 수 있는 대상 중 하나이다. 본 논문은 국내에서 개발된 철근 대체재용 GFRP 보강근의 콘크리트 구조물로의 적용 가능성을 관찰하기 위한 실험연구에 관한 것으로 폭과 길이가 3,000 mm, 4,000 mm이고 두께가 240 mm인 실제 크기의 콘크리트 바닥판을 제작하여 GFRP 보강근의 보강비에 따른 거동을 관찰하였다. 정적실험을 수행하였으며 DB-24 하중등급의 축하중을 모사한 재하면적을 가진 직사각형 강재로 바닥판이 파괴될 때까지 집중하중을 가하였다. 철근 보강 바닥판과 GFRP 보강 바닥판의 거동차이를 최대성능 및 처짐 거동 등에 대해 비교 검토하였다.

FRP 보강 콘크리트 보의 장기처짐에 관한 실험연구 (An Experimental Study on the Long-Term Deflection of Concrete Beams with GFRP Rebars)

  • FRP 보강근을 이용한 콘크리트 부재는 균열이 발생하면 강성이 상대적으로 작아지고 이와 같은 부재의 낮은 강성은 사용하중 상태에서 허용처짐량이나 균열폭 등과 같은 사용성이 부재의 설계를 결정하게 되는 주요 요인으로 작용하게 된다$^{1)}$. 미국, 캐나다, 일본 등의 선진국에서는 FRP 보강근을 사용한 콘크리트 부재의 연구가 활발히 진행되어 사용성에 대한 설계기준(안)이나 지침서를 제안하고 있으나 국내에서는 아직까지 이에 대한 연구가 미비하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 보강비를 달리한 총 4개의 콘크리트 보에 대하여 180일간 지속하중을 재하하였으며 이들 보의 순간처짐(sohrt-term deflection) 및 장기처짐(long-term deflection)의 발생을 관찰하였다. 뿐만아니라 현재 ACI에서 제안하는 장기처짐 값을 계산하여 그 결과를 실험값과 비교 분석하였다. 비록 제한된 수의 비교이지만 180일간 지속하중을 받은 콘크리트 보의 장기처짐은 재하시 순간처짐의 약 40${\sim}$70%까지 발생되었으며 ACI에서 제안한 장기처짐값은 실제 보에서 발생한 장기처짐값을 최대 46% 과대평가하였다.

LPS-SiC 세라믹스 제조특성에 미치는 소결온도의 영향 (Effects of Sintering Temperature on Fabrication Properties of LPS-SiC Ceramics)

  • SiC materials have been extensively studied for high temperature components in advanced energy system and advanced gas turbine. However, the brittle characteristics of SiC such as low fracture toughness and low strain-to fracture still impose a severe limitation on practical applications of SiC materials. For these reasons, $SiC_f/SiC$ composites can be considered as a promising for various structural materials, because of their good fracture toughness compared with monolithic SiC ceramics. But, high temperature and pressure lead to the degradation of the reinforcing fiber during the hot pressing. Therefore, reduction of sintering temperature and pressure is key requirements for the fabrication of $SiC_f/SiC$ composites by hot pressing method. In the present work, Monolithic LPS-SiC was fabricated by hot pressing method in Ar atmosphere at 1760 $^{\circ}C$, 1780 $^{\circ}C$, 1800 $^{\circ}C$ and 1820 $^{\circ}C$ under 20 MPa using $Al_2O_3-Y_2O_3$ system as sintering additives in order to low sintering temperature. The starting powder was high purity ${\beta}-SiC$ nano-powder with an average particle size of 30 nm. Monolithic LPS-SiC was evaluated in terms of sintering density, micro-structure, flexural strength, elastic modulus and so on. Sintered density, flexural strength and elastic modulus of fabricated LPS-SiC increased with increasing the sintering temperature. In the micro-structure of this specimen, it was found that grain of sintered body was grown from 30 nm to 200 nm.

자동차용 마찰재에 함유된 세라믹분말의 함량에 따른 마찰특성 (Friction Characteristics of Automotive Friction Materials with Ceramic Powder Contents)

  • The friction characteristics of automotive brake friction materials that contained different ceramic content were investigated. Several kinds of raw materials, such as resin-based binder, reinforcing fiber, friction restraint, abrasive, and filling materials were mixed, pressed, and heated in order to make the brake friction materials. The contents of SiC and $BaSO_4$ changed from 5 vol% to 20 vol%, respectively. In addition to this, the content of $Al_2O_3$ adjusted from 1 vol% to 16 vol%. The surface morphology of the SiC containing sample appeared rough while more debris was observed when the contents of SiC increased. This implies that the SiC containing brake composite was not adequate for the automobile. However, the relatively smooth surface was observed in samples that contained the $Al_2O_3$. But the roughness was low with a content of 11 vol% $Al_2O_3$ compared to the other samples. This is consistent with the abrasive properties of the samples. In the case of $BaSO_4$ containing samples, the smoothes surface was observed in the contents of 15 vol% $BaSO_4$. Thus, it was concluded that the 11 vol% $Al_2O_3$ and 15 vol% $BaSO_4$ containing composite would be the optimum content for the brake composite. Similar to the results of the surface morphology, the abrasion resistance consistently decreased when the content of SiC increased. On the contrary, the sample that contained 11 vol% $Al_2O_3$ and 15 vol% $BaSO_4$ showed the highest abrasion resistance compared to the other samples.

트럭 Deck Floor Board의 강도향상을 위한 목분복합재의 기계적특성 분석 (Analysis of Mechanical Properties of Wood Flours Composites to Improve the Strength of Truck Deck Floor Boards)

  • The deck floor of a the cargo truck becomesis damaged and aged due to the continuous loading of the loading cargo and external environmental factors. Floor boards made of wood and metal are often used. In the case of wood, the cost is high due to the use of imported wood, and the strength is easily deterioratesd due to environmental factors. In the case of metal materials, the durability is higher than that of wood, but problems are raised due to the effect of major factors that hinder the weight reduction, and the effects of corrosion. In order to replace this stucturestructural design, this study proposed a wood fiber composite using natural raw materials. Woody composites are being used as environmentally and friendly exterior materials with the combined advantages of plastic, and wood,; low cost and low density. However, due to the nature of the woody composites, the properties are differentdiffer depending on the contents of the matrix, reinforcing agent, additives, compatibilizer, etc. In this study, we investigate these problems through analysis of the microstructure and mechanical properties according to proper content and injection molding conditions. As a result, it is considered that the wood deck composite can replaced the current Deck Floor Boardreplace current deck floor boards through continuous continued research and results of this study.

Vibration analysis of damaged core laminated curved panels with functionally graded sheets and finite length

  • The main objective of this paper is to study vibration of sandwich open cylindrical panel with damaged core and FG face sheets based on three-dimensional theory of elasticity. The structures are made of a damaged isotropic core and two external face sheets. These skins are strengthened at the nanoscale level by randomly oriented Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and are reinforced at the microscale stage by oriented straight fibers. These reinforcing phases are included in a polymer matrix and a three-phase approach based on the Eshelby-Mori-Tanaka scheme and on the Halpin-Tsai approach, which is developed to compute the overall mechanical properties of the composite material. Three complicated equations of motion for the panel under consideration are semi-analytically solved by using 2-D differential quadrature method. Several parametric analyses are carried out to investigate the mechanical behavior of these multi-layered structures depending on the damage features, through-the-thickness distribution and boundary conditions. It is seen that for the large amount of power-law index "P", increasing this parameter does not have significant effect on the non-dimensional natural frequency parameters of the FG sandwich curved panel. Results indicate that by increasing the value of isotropic damage parameter "D" up to the unity (fully damaged core) the frequency would tend to become zero. One can dictate the fiber variation profile through the radial direction of the sandwich panel via the amount of "P", "b" and "c" parameters. It should be noticed that with increase of volume fraction of fibers, the frequency parameter of the panels does not increase necessarily, so by considering suitable amounts of power-law index "P" and the parameters "b" and "c", one can get dynamic characteristics similar or better than the isotropic limit case for laminated FG curved panels.

An algorithm for quantifying dynamic buckling and post-buckling behavior of delaminated FRP plates with a rectangular hole stiffened by smart (SMA) stitches

  • Dynamic buckling of structure is one of the failure modes that needs to be considered since it may result in catastrophic failure of the structure in a short period of time. For a thin fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) plate under compression, buckling is an inherent hazard which will be intensified by the existence of defects like holes, cracks, and delamination. On the other hand, the growth of the delamination is another prime concern for thin FRP plates. In the current paper, reinforcing the plates against buckling is realized by using SMA wires in the form of stitches. A numerical framework is proposed to simulate the dynamic instability emphasizing the effect of the SMA stitches in suppressing delamination growth. The suggested algorithm is more accurate than the other methods when considering the transformation point of the SMA wires and the modeling of the cohesive zone using simple and yet reliable technique. The computational design of the method by producing the line by line orders leads to a simple algorithm for simulating the super-elastic behavior. The Lagoudas constitutive model of the SMA material is implemented in the form of user material subroutines (VUMAT). The normal bilinear spring model is used to reproduce the cohesive zone behavior. The nonlinear finite element formulation is programmed into FORTRAN using the Newmark-beta numerical time-integration approach. The obtained results are compared with the results obtained by the finite element method using ABAQUS/Explicit solver. The obtained results by the proposed algorithm and those by ABAQUS are in good agreement.

고인성 복합체로 보강한 조적부재의 휨 거동 평가 (Evaluation of Flexural Behavior of Masonry Members Reinforced with Engineered Cementitious Composite)

  • 논문은 조적부재에 고인성 복합체를 보강하여 내진보강 가능성을 평가하기 위한 기초연구이다. 고인성 복합체의 섬유 혼입률에 따른 성능을 검토하기 위하여 배합설계에 따라 시험체를 제조하고 유동성능, 압축강도, 휨 강도, 길이변화율 및 직접인장변형률을 측정하였다. 또한, 무보강 조적부재, 고인성 복합체로 보강한 조적부재, 고인성 복합체에 유리섬유 및 와이어 메쉬를 별도 보강한 조적부재를 제작하고 휨 강도와 최대변위를 측정하였다. 고인성 복합체를 보강한 모든 실험체들은 무보강과 비교하여 최대내력이 16배 이상의 효과가 나타났으며 균열 형상을 검토한 결과 에너지소산능력이 우수한 것으로 나타나 내진보강 가능성을 확인하였다.

수-윤활용 플라스틱 베어링 개발에 관한 연구 (Development of Water-lubricated Plastic Bearings)

  • This paper presents the fabrication process of water-lubricated plastic bearings. Plastic bearings require good mechanical properties and tribological properties as well as elasticity and shock resistance, especially when lubricated in dirty water conditions. In this study, sleeve-type plastic bearings are produced by winding a prepreg sheet, which primary contains nitrile rubber (NBR)-modified epoxy, self-lubricating fillers, and various types of lattice-structured reinforcing fibers such as carbon, Aramid, and polyethylene terephthalate. A thermosetting epoxy is chemically modified with NBR to impart elasticity and low-friction characteristics in water conditions. Experimental investigations are conducted to examine the mechanical and tribological characteristics of the developed bearing materials, and the results are compared with the characteristics of a commercial plastic bearing (Thordon SXL), well known as a water-lubricated bearing. A Thordon bearing (mainly composed of polyurethane) exhibits an extremely low load-bearing capacity and is thus only suitable for medium loading (1~10MPa). The tribological characteristics of the test materials are evaluated through Falex block-on-ring (LFW-1) friction and wear tests. The results indicate that friction exhibited by the carbon-fiber-reinforced NBR-10wt.%-modified epoxy composite material, incorporated with the addition of 20wt.% UHMWPE and 6wt.% paraffin wax, is lower than that of the Thorden bearings, whereas its wear resistance surpass that of Thorden ones. Because of these features, the load carrying capacity of the fabricated composite (>10MPa) is higher than that of the Thorden bearings. These results confirm the applicability of water-lubricated plastic bearing materials developed in this study.
