  • Korea Privative security regulation was enacted in 1976 and which was revised 18 times. But most of the revision was made by outer forces but not by for the law itself. Now more than 39 years since the law was enacted and 63 years modern private security method was adopted. In this point of time being requires well equipped private security regulation would be revised to match with much changed society. First, there is a problem with the current ways of education, written examination. Second, security guard supervisor examination subject should be revised, which means overlapped subjects must be eliminated. Third, collective civil petition place has to be arranged.

  • In various organisms, the Hippo signaling pathway has been identified as a master regulator of organ size determination and tissue homeostasis. The Hippo signaling coordinates embryonic development, tissue regeneration and differentiation, through regulating cell proliferation and survival. The YAP and TAZ (YAP/TAZ) act as core transducers of the Hippo pathway, and they are tightly and exquisitely regulated in response to various intrinsic and extrinsic stimuli. Abnormal regulation or genetic variation of the Hippo pathway causes a wide range of human diseases, including cancer. Recent studies have revealed that Hippo signaling plays a pivotal role in the immune system and cancer immunity. Due to pathophysiological importance, the emerging role of Hippo signaling in blood cell differentiation, known as hematopoiesis, is receiving much attention. A number of elegant studies using a genetically engineered mouse (GEM) model have shed light on the mechanistic and physiological insights into the Hippo pathway in the regulation of hematopoiesis. Here, we briefly review the function of Hippo signaling in the regulation of hematopoiesis and immune cell differentiation.

  • The convergence in telecommunication and broadcasting is one of the most popular topics in these days. For example, the characteristic of IPTV -internet protocol television-is controversial in the extreme. In Korea the IPTV operators are mainly the telecommunication service operators. So it is natural that the IPTV services are categorized to the telecommunication services. But the Broadcasting service providers, especially the CATV providers who can serve the TPS-triple play service- like IPTV players insist that the IPTV should be regulated as a broadcasting service. This paper will analyze whether the regulation in which the IPTV is categorized to one of the broadcasting services is better than the case of telecommunication services. To examine this, the social welfare analysis is conduced and the differential oligopoly market model is used. Together with that, this paper suggests that we can improve the social welfare by the asymmetric regulation between IPTV and D-CA TV. This means that in Korea the IPTV has a weak substitution relation with the D-CA TV and the IPTV should be dealed as a new convergence service that differs from traditional broadcasting services.

  • Long-chain fatty acids (LCFAs) are vital in cellular compartments, primarily regulating lipid metabolism. Fatty Acid-Binding Proteins (FABPs) facilitate LCFA transport, lipid synthesis, storage, and act as signaling molecules influencing various pathways, including inflammation. FABP4, in particular, is linked to vascular and cardio-related diseases, and it plays a role in macrophage-mediated inflammatory responses. Previous studies have identified FABP4 as not only a representative biomarker for lipogenesis but also as having correlations with immune responses. This study aims to investigate the regulation of the chicken FABP4 (chFABP4) gene by toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) activation and determine the signaling pathways that are involved in chFABP4 transcriptional regulation. We analyzed the transcriptional regulation of chFABP4 in TLR3-stimulated DF-1 cells. The results showed that chFABP4 was up-regulated upon stimulation with polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid (PIC), a TLR3 ligand. Notably, chFABP4 transcription was independently regulated in the NF-κB signaling pathway. It was up-regulated in p38 inhibition, demonstrating that the p38 signaling pathway might suppress the transcription of chFABP4 within TLR3-activated DF-1 cells. In contrast, chFABP4 expression was down-regulated in JNK signaling pathway inhibition, suggesting the positive regulation of JNK signaling pathway for chFABP4 transcription in DF-1 cells in response to TLR3 activation, consistent with findings in macrophages. MEK pathway inhibition resulted in a similar regulation to NF-κB signaling. These results suggest that each MAPK contributes differentially to the transcriptional regulation of chFABP4 by in DF-1 cells in response to TLR3 activation.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the actual effect of government R&D support and regulation as a policy on technology innovation of SMEs. Because the previous studies did not consider the endogeneity of R&D support and made inconsistent conclusions in the case of regulation, the empirical research was conducted by logistic, negative binomial regression and 2SLS analysis for 1,223 SMEs. The analysis results show that government support has the effect for technology innovation even considering the endogeneity of government R&D support, and government regulation has a positive effect on technology innovation which supports Porter's theory. These results imply that government R&D support is important in inducing technology innovation because of the vulnerability of SMEs technology development environment and government should foster SMEs technology innovation through appropriate regulation policies rather than unconditional deregulation.

  • This study aimed to find an effective intervention measure through establishing the correlation between self-regulation (control over life style) and height growth through neuro-feedback training. 40 elementary students in grades two to four with height growth programs (20 experimental group students, 20 control group students) were examined for the changes before and after undergoing neuro-feedback training. The experiment lasted for three months with one 30-minute training session two times a week. After analyzing the differences in self-regulation among the control group with no neuro-feedback training and the experimental group with neuro-feedback training, the differences in height growth were analyzed. First of all, there were positive changes in self-regulation of the experimental group compared with the control group. Secondly, the experimental group showed larger changes in height growth. In conclusion, neuro-feedback training had positive effects upon the self-regulation that adjusts the acquired factors of height growth, which led to positive effects.

  • This study takes a critical perspective that current vertical regulatory framework for broadcasting, telecommunications, films and games cannot cope with media development in the age of convergence. Changes in media environment mitigate the uniqueness of terrestrial television causing doubts as to why television contents should be treated more strictly than the rest of media contents. Consensus is being reached that horizontal regulation would be the appropriate regulatory measure for media contents. However, which content should be aligned to what level of regulations have not been fully dealt with. The paper shows that the current regulatory framework which is established according to each delivery platform is no longer valid in convergent media environment. It shows why all content regulation should be applied in platform neutral manner. Then it also suggests both short and long term regulatory changes that need to be made in order to meet the future challenges in media convergence era.
