Along with increasing mothers' employment, work-family reconciliation has been recognised as a key policy agenda in contemporary welfare states. Although various policy instruments have been introduced and expanded in recent years, the problem of time allocation within couples still remains as a fundamental issue, which has been largely underresearched at a micro perspective. In this context, this study aims to identify dominant types of work-family time allocation within married couple, and to apply these types to the Korean case using the fuzzy-set ideal type analysis. Further, a series of multiple regression analyses will be implemented to find factors affecting each ideal type of work-family time allocation. The 1999 and 2009 Korea Time Use Survey datasets will be adopted for the analyses. Married couples are selected as samples only when men work 40 hours or more per week and they have at least one pre-school child. Empirical analyses cover three parts. First of all, four ideal types on work-family time allocation are classified by intersecting two core variables - the ratio of men's (paid) working and family (caring time plus domestic work) time to total working and family time. In this research, the four types will be labelled the traditional male breadwinner model (TM, high working and low family time), the dual burden model (DB, shared working but low family time), the family-friendly male breadwinner model (FM, high working but shared family time), and the adaptive partnership model (AP, shared working and shared family time). By comparing the composition of the four ideal types in 1999 and 2009, it will examine the trend of work-family time allocation in Korea. In addition, multiple regressions will be useful for investigating which characteristics contribute to the different degree of each fuzzy ideal score in the four models. Finally, policy implications and further research agenda will be discussed.
Long-term high-resolution hydro-meteorological data has been recognized as an essential element in establishing the water resources plan. The increasing demand for spatial precipitation in various areas such as climate, hydrology, geography, ecology, and environment is apparent. However, potential limitations of the existing area-weighted and numerical interpolation methods for interpolating precipitation in high altitude areas remains less explored. The proposed PRISM (Precipitation-Elevation Regressions on Independent Slopes Model) model can produce gridded precipitation that can adequately consider topographic characteristics (e.g., slope and altitude), which are not substantially included in the existing interpolation techniques. In this study, the PRISM model was optimized with SCEM-UA (Shuffled Complex Evolution Metropolis-University of Arizona) to produce daily gridded precipitation. As a result, the minimum impact radius was calculated 9.10 km and the maximum 34.99 km. The altitude of coastal weighted was 681.03 m, the minimum and maximum distances from coastal were 9.85 km and 38.05 km. The distance weighting factor was calculated to be about 0.87, confirming that the PRISM result was very sensitive to distance. The results showed that the proposed PRISM model could reproduce the observed statistical properties reasonably well.

In order to reduce the outbreaks of short-term high concentrations and its impacts, we developed the models which predicted tomorrow's maximum hourly concentrations of $O_3$, TSP, SO$_2$, NO$_2$ and CO. Statistical methods like multi regressions were used because it must be operated easily under the present conditions. 47 independent variables were used, which included observed concentrations of air pollutants, observed and forcasted meteorological data in 1994 at Seoul and its surrounding areas. We subdivided Seoul into 4 areas coinciding with the present ozone warning areas. 4 kinds of seasonal models were developed due to the seasonal variations of observed concentrations, and 2 kinds of data models for the unavailable case of forecasted meteorological data. By comparing the $R^2$and root mean square error(hearafter 'RMSE') of each model, we confirmed that the models including forecasted data showed higher accuracy than ones using observed only. It was also shown that the higher the seasonal mean concentrations, the larger the RMSE. There was no distinct difference between the results of 4 areal models. In case of test run using 1995's data, the models predicted well the trends of daily variation of concentrations and the days when the possibility of outbreak of high concentarion was high. This study showed that it was reasonable to use those models as operational ones, because the $R^2$ and RMSE of models were smaller than those of operational/research models such as in South Coast Air Basin, CA, USA.
In performance-based seismic design procedures Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) and pseudo-Spectral acceleration ($S_a$) are commonly used to predict the response of structures to earthquake. Recently, research has been carried out to evaluate the predictive capability of these standard Intensity Measures (IMs) with respect to different types of structures and Engineering Demand Parameter (EDP) commonly used to measure damage. Efforts have been also spent to propose alternative IMs that are able to improve the results of the response predictions. However, most of these IMs are not usually employed in probabilistic seismic demand analyses because of the lack of reliable Ground Motion Prediction Equations (GMPEs). In order to define seismic hazard and thus to calculate demand hazard curves it is essential, in fact, to establish a GMPE for the earthquake intensity. In the light of this need, new GMPEs are proposed here for the elastic input energy spectra, energy-based intensity measures that have been shown to be good predictors of both structural and non-structural damage for many types of structures. The proposed GMPEs are developed using mixed-effects models by empirical regressions on a large number of strong-motions selected from the NGA database. Parametric analyses are carried out to show the effect of some properties variation, such as fault mechanism, type of soil, earthquake magnitude and distance, on the considered IMs. Results of comparisons between the proposed GMPEs and other from the literature are finally shown.
Tunnel displacement happens during the process of stress redistribution by tunnelling. Tunnel displacement can be divided into 3 types such as displacements occurring before excavation, non-measured displacements after excavation and measured displacements after excavation. Because measurements of displacements occurring before excavation and non-measured displacement after excavation are difficult and time-consuming in the field, many researchers have studied on total displacement and its characteristics with excavation using numerical analysis. In this study, we used a 3-D back analysis to estimate total displacement by rock mass grades in tunnel constructed in sedimentary rock. We reduced error between measured displacements and calculated displacements from a 3-D numerical analysis, and then estimated suitable rock mass properties by RMR classes. Ultimately, Logistic nonlinear regressions of total displacement with tunnelling were estimated by least square estimation.
Purpose: This study was done to identify the influence of severity of drinking problem, circadian rhythm and sleep quality in patients with alcohol use. Methods: A descriptive study design was utilized. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires from 139 patients with alcohol use disorder who were admitted to a psychiatric hospital in D city, Korea. The questionnaires included Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT), Composite Scale of Morningness (CMS), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and Korea sleep scale A. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regressions using the SPSS 20.0 program. Results: There was significant correlations among severity of problem drinking, circadian rhythm, sleep quality and sleep disorder. The significant factors influencing sleep disorder were severity of problem drinking(${\beta}=.12$, p= .042), circadian rhythm(${\beta}=-.14$, p= .039) and sleep quality(${\beta}=.63$, p= < .001). This model explained 56% of variance in sleep disorder(F = 57.34, p= < .001). Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that the development of sleep intervention programs for alcohol use disorder patients needs to consider severity of alcohol use, circadian rhythm and sleep quality, and sleep assessment and intervention are needed the early stage of the treatment and recovery process.
This study aims to investigate the impact of total, native-born, and foreign-born employment rates on the increases of GDP and per capita GDP for 24 OECD countries out of 34 countries depending on data availability. The panel data analysis is formed by a fixed-effects model which allows dummy variable in it to permit the intercept term to vary over time-series and cross-sectional units. Empirical evidences obtained by simple and multiple panel regressions reveal that the contribution to increasing of GDP by foreign-born employment is obviously lower than the one by native-born employment. And, native-born labor is substituted by foreign-born labor. It also has to be mentioned that the labor is playing a key role in increasing in national income. And, therefore, labor-related policy should be concerned on decreasing in labor productivity and segmentation of labor market resulted from inflow of foreign labor. It means that labor-related policy has to take care of not only the magnitude, but also the quality of foreign-born labor.

The purpose of this study was to investigate factors associated with coping responses in Korean public high school students. Methods: This study employed a descriptive survey research design. The sample included 263 high school students who responded to a self-report questionnaire. Variables included socio-demographic characteristics, health-related characteristics, academic stress, somatization symptoms, social support, and coping responses. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlations, and multiple regressions. Results: Participants, regarding their school life, reported moderate levels of academic stress ($M{\pm}SD=2.3{\pm}0.52$) and somatization symptoms ($M{\pm}SD=2.3{\pm}0.71$), and a relatively high level of social support ($M{\pm}SD=4.2{\pm}0.67$). All the variables were associated with the use of multiple coping responses. Active-cognitive coping ($M{\pm}SD=2.9{\pm}0.68$) was most frequently used, followed by active-behavioral coping ($M{\pm}SD=2.5{\pm}0.56$). and avoidant coping ($M{\pm}SD=2.3{\pm}0.75$). Significant relationships were found among the measured variables: positive relation between academic stress and somatization symptoms, but, negative between academic stress and both somatization symptoms and social support. Students who had higher stress and more somatization symptoms were more likely to use avoidant coping than the others. In multiple regression analysis, while factors associated with each coping response differed, gender appeared to be a significant factor in all methods. Variables included in the final model explained 27% of the variance in avoidant coping (F=11.40, p<.001). Conclusion: Based on the study results, schools should provide tailored educational programs to help high school students reduce multisource stress and somatization symptoms at school and cope with them in more active and effective ways.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the casual relationships of the service qualify, the satisfaction of the users, and the loyalty of the users on the academic libraries. The study develops a model and a hypothesis based on the previous researches, and testifies through multiple regressions and path analysis using questionnaires from 266 academic library users(undergraduate students and graduate students) in the C University. The result of this study is summarized as the following: the service qualifies of e-service, contents, and librarians significantly influences the satisfaction of the users-undergraduate students on the qualifies of library space/environment and contents, and graduate students on the qualities of e-service and librarian. The satisfaction of the users and the quality of e-service are the variables that influence the loyalty of the users. The quality of e-service is an important variable that influence both the satisfaction and the loyalty of the users in academic libraries.
This study aimed at identifying the relationship between marital satisfaction and marital stability, with primary focus on the effect of double sexual standards on their relationship. Data from 370 married women of community and culture centers in Daegu Metropolitan area were analyzed through multi-step multiple regressions. Findings indicated that communication and intimacy were positively related to marital satisfaction, which showed strong effect on marital stability, and that double sexual standard weakened the relationship between marital satisfaction and stability. Relationship between sexual satisfaction and marital satisfaction were not statistically significant in the sample of married women. Construction of comprehensive and systemic theoretical model on marital stability was suggested for further study.
