This paper deals with a novel full digital control of the single-phase PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) inviter for UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supp1y). The voltage and current of output filter capacitor as a state variable are the feedback control input. In the proposed scheme a double deadbeat control consisting of minor current control loop and major voltage control loop have been developed In addition, a second order deadbeat currents control which should be exactly equal to its reference in two sampling time without error and overshoot is proposed to remove the influence of the calculation time delay. The load current prediction is achieved to compensate the load disturbance. The simulation and experimental result shows that the proposed system offers an output voltage with THD(Total Harmonic Distortion) less than 5% at a full nonlinear load.
An attempt was made to enhance anaerobic treatment efficiency by adopting the anaerobic sequencing batch reactor(ASBR) process at a thermophilic temperature. Operational characteristics of the ASBR process were studied using laboratory scale reactors and concentrated organic wastewater composed of soluble starch and essential nutrients. Effects of fill to react ratio (F/R) were examined in the Phase I experiment, where the equivalent hydraulic retention time(HRT) was maintained at 5 days with the influent COD of 10g/L. A continuous stirred tank reactor(CSTR) was operated in parallel as a reference. Treatment efficiency was higher for the ASBRs because of continuous accumulation of volatile suspended solids(VSS) compared to the CSTR. However, the rate of gas production and organic removal per unit VSS in the ASBRs was much lower than the CSTR. This was caused by reduced methane fermentation due to accumulation of volatile acids(VA), especially for the case of low F/R, during the fill period. When the F/R was high, maximum VA was low and the VA decreased in short period. Consequently, more stable operation was possible with higher F/R. Effects of hydraulic loading rate on the efficiency was studied in the Phase II experiment, where the organic loading rate was elevated to 3333mg/L-d with the F/R of 0.12. Reduction of organic removal along with rapid increase of VA was observed and the stability of reaction was seriously impaired, when the influent COD was doubled. However, operation of the ASBR was quite stable, when the hydraulic loading rate was doubled and a cycle time was adjusted to 12 hour. It is essential to avoid rapid accumulation of VA during the fill period in order to maintain operational stability of the ASBR.

In this paper, a single-phase DC-AC inverter using two embedded Z-source converters is proposed. The proposed inverter is composed of two embedded Z-source converters with common DC source and output AC load. The output AC voltage of the inverter is obtained by the difference of output capacitor voltages of each converter. The output voltage of each converter take shape of the asymmetrical AC waveform centering zero voltage. Therefore, the proposed inverter can generate the same output voltage despite low VA rating L-C elements, compared to the conventional inverter using high DC voltage with AC ripple. To verify the validity of the proposed system, the PSIM simulation was achieved under the condition of rapid increase of DC source (110[V]${\rightarrow}$150[V]) and R-load (50[${\Omega}$]${\rightarrow}$300[${\Omega}$]). For controlling the voltage of the inverter system, the one-cycle controller was adopted. As results, the proposed inverter output the constant AC voltage (220[V]rms/60[Hz]) for all conditions. Also, the R-L load and nonlinear diode load were adopted for the proposed inverter loads, and we could know that the its output voltage characteristics were as good as the pure R-load. Finally, the RMS and THD of output AC voltage were examined for the different loads, input DC voltages and reference voltage signals.

Among 2-dimensional coastal hydrodynamic finite element models time stepping ADCIRC and STEPM. and harmonic FUNDY and TEA models were compared in order to find out their characteristics and analyze ernr. General feasibility and capability of models were studied by comparing model results with an analytical solution on some reference points and L$_2$norm error in quarter annular domain where analytical solution can be obtained. According to these tests harmonic models FUNDY and TEA were nearly coinciding with analytical solutions and gave better results than time stepping models. STEPM was at least 5 times better than ADCIRC in L$_2$norm error test and it was 7 times worse than harmonic models. It was expected and concluded that these errors might come from phase lag due to cold start condition and nonlinear effect in basic equations of time stepping models.
Color characteristics of the Cu-Sn alloys (bronze) in as-cast conditions were determined by reference to the $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$ color space. Results show that the values of $a^*$ and $b^*$ decrease with the increase in Sn levels, indicating that the colors of bronze alloys are increasingly away from red and yellow with the increase in the fraction of the ${\delta}$ phase while the opposite is true with the ${\alpha}$ phase. It has also been found in similar experiments with the Cu-22% Sn alloys that heat treatments in varying conditions produce subtle differences in their color characteristics as observed in the $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$ color space, due likely to the formation of various phases in different fractions.
Objective : To report the learning curve of percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (PELD) for a surgeon who had not been previously exposed to this procedure based on the period and detailed technique with a retrospective matched comparative design. Methods : Of 213 patients with lumbar disc herniation encountered during the reference period, 35 patients who were followed up for 1 year after PELD were enrolled in this study. The patients were categorized by the period and technique of operation : group A, the first 15 cases, who underwent by the 'in-and-out' technique; group B, the next 20 cases, who underwent by the 'in-and-out-and-in' technique. The operation time, failure rate, blood loss, complication rate, re-herniation rate, the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) for back and leg were checked. The alteration of dural sac cross-sectional area (DSCSA) between the preoperative and the postoperative MRI was checked. Results : Operative time was rapidly reduced in the early phase, and then tapered to a steady state for the 35 cases receiving the PELD. After surgery, VAS scores for the back and leg were decreased significantly in both groups. Complications occurred in 2 patients in group A and 2 patients in group B. Between the two groups, there were significant differences in operative time, improvement of leg VAS, and expansion of DSCSA. Conclusion : PELD learning curve seems to be acceptable with sufficient preparation. However, because of their high tendency to delayed operation time, operation failure, and re-herniation, caution should be exercised at the early phase of the procedure.
This paper is aimed to analyze the electrical and thermal signal such as ignition possibility, ignition time, thermal characteristics and arc fault power that are associated with electrical fire in case of the occurrence of series arc at IV wiring used for interior wiring at commercial power source. In order to analyze the signal, series arc was induced by generating the constant vibration through vibrating device in the one phase (R phase) and ignition possibility was analyzed along the condition of current value by adding cotton material to the contact point of wiring. The ignition time is shortened as the electric current value increased, burning time is not associated with current value and the temperature rose up to $740^{\circ}C$ though it was not ignited. It was checked out that the temperature was the energy source enough that can generate the fire related with insulation aging of wiring and the inflammable. The possibility of electrical fire by series arc was shown as more than 12% at 5A, more than 42% at 20A and arc showed 27W at 5A, 180W at 20A. It was confirmed that the possibility of electrical fire exists at the condition as above and the circuit breaker did not operate. This data can be used as the reference value for the investigation of electrical fire or development of the circuit breaker.
Five urease-positive Vibrio parahaemolyticus strains were isolated from Kamak Bay in Yeosu in 2002 and 2003. V. parahaemolyticus YKB4 and YKB14 were isolated from seawater, YFB20 from black rockfish (Sebastes schlegeli), and YFO2l and YFO22 from olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus). The five urease-positive strains (YKB4, YKB14, YFB20, YFO21, and YFO22) did not show hemolysin and protease activity, while they did alter in color (to red) as the bacteria grew in the urea broth medium. All samples showed identical biochemical characteristics as a reference strain, V. parahaemolyticus KCTC2471, except in urease production. The five urease-positive strains showed urease activities at a mid stationary phase, and their activity was maximal in the late stationary phase of their culture supernatant. The addition of urea to the Luria-Bertani (LB) broth medium significantly affected the initial production of urease of V. parahaemolyticus isolates. Mortality by urease-positive V. parahaemolyticus YKB4, YKB14, YFO2l, and YFO22 was significantly high, being$60-80\%$, while YFB20 only reflected a rate of $20\%$. Protease-positive V. parahaemolyticus FM39 and FM50 showed a $40\%$ and $60\%$ mortality rate, respectively. However, hemolysin-positive V. parahaemolyticus had no mortality, like the non-pathogenic V. parahaemolyticus KCTC2471, while V. vulnificus resulted in a $40\%$ mortality rate. Injection with urease-positive V. parahaemolyticus strains showed mortality within 12 hrs in mice, and the strains could be isolated from the dead mice.
We present our activities linking to planning of possible forms of large program to study on circumstellar H2O and SiO maser sources with KaVA. A great advantage of KaVA for the stellar maser observations is the combination of the unique capability of the multi-frequency phase referencing technique of KVN and the dual-beam astrometry of VERA with the KaVA's relative dense antenna configuration. We have demonstrated this advantage through the test observations conducted by the KaVA Evolved Stars Sub-working Group since 2012 March. Snapshot KaVA imaging is confirmed to be possible in integration time of 0.5 hour at the 22 GHz band and 1.0 hour at the 43 GHz band in typical cases. This implies that large snapshot imaging surveys towards many H2O and SiO stellar masers are possible within a reasonable machine time (e.g., scans on ~100 maser sources within 200 hours). This possibility enables us to select the maser sources, which are suitable for future long-term (10 years) intensive (biweekly-monthly) monitoring observations, from 1000 potential target candidates selected from dual-frequency band (K/Q-bands) KVN single-dish observations. The output of the survey programs will be used for statistical analysis of the structures of individual stellar maser clumps and the spatio-kinematical structures of circumstellar envelopes with accelerating outflows. The combination of astrometry in milliarcsecond(mas) level and the multi-phase referencing technique yields not only trigonometric parallax distances to the masers but also precise position reference for registration of different maser lines. The accuracy of the map registration affects interpretation of the excitation mechanism of the SiO maser lines and the origin of the variety of the maser actions, which are expected to reflect periodic behaviors of the circumstellar envelope with stellar pulsation. Currently we are checking the technical feasibility of KaVA operations for this combination. After this feasibility test, the long-term monitoring campaign program will run as one of KaVA's legacy projects.

This research investigates the design process of free-form architecture to understand the design strategy and changing factors during the development phase and the cause for them. It is aimed to foresee the changing factors from the design process and to reduce design changes. It analyzes the design changes of free-form architecture based on projects with finalized documentation or under construction in South Korea. Many free-form shapes of the free-form architectures have to be adjusted to rigid-form in order to satisfy function and be economical to build. The research finds three patterns in design changes. First, from the factors for design changes: function, constructability, design, program add/subtract, efficiency, circulation; Function and Constructability are the higher factors compared with the rest. The two are the design changes suitable for actual usage and cost savings. Second, each project has different predominant factors for design changes as the degree of free-form is different. Contrary to initial expectation, the greater the degrees of free-form of the competition scheme, the higher the rate of Function among the factors for design changes. Constructability is higher when the degree of the free-form is less than others. It means that the lower the degree of the free-form, the more properly planned the space of the building is. Last, Constructability of free-form architecture is considered during the earlier design phase than definite-form, one by which the design changes by comparing 'Before fixed Space Program' (BSP) and 'After fixed Space Program' (ASP) design changes. The research would be helpful as a reference for setting up competition guidelines to reduce trial and error during the design process.
