Korea Gas Safety Corporation is developing consequence analysis system for combustible materials release events to enhance risk assessment technology and its efficiency. Unlike general consequence analysis programs, the final consequence area was implemented through ETA analysis based on API-581 standard, and a convenient user interface was constructed based on HTML5-based responsive web technology. In addition, a phase equilibrium module using third-order state equations (such as Peng-Robinson, SRK, and RK) and fugecity was implemented to analyze the mixture quality. Also. using the consequence analysis algorithm introduced in CCPS books and TNO Yellow Book, we developed material leak analysis module, fireball, pool fire, jet fire, flash fire, and vapor cloud explosion consequence assessment module. In addition, the conditions for calculating the safety distance were prepared with using the control values in the EIGA standard, PAC, and Bevi Reference Book.
Low power physics tests should be peformed for the domestic pressurized light water reactors (PWRs) after refueling. The tests are peformed to ensure that operating characteristics of the core are consistent with predictions and that the core can be operated as designed. But in some low power physics tests, slow but steady reactivity increasing phenomena were noticed after step reactivity insertion by the control rod movement. These reactivity increasing phenomena are due to the low flux level and the gamma background because an uncompensated ion chamber (UIC) is used as the ex-core neutron detector. The gamma background may affect the results or the lour power physics tests. The aims or this paper are to analyze the grounds of such phenomena, to simulate a reference bank worth measurement test and to present a resolution quantitatively. In this study, the gamma background level was estimated by numerically solving the point kinetics equations accounting the gamma background effect. The reactivity computer check test was simulated to verify the model. Also, an appropriate neutron flux level was determined by simulating the reference bank worth measurement test. The determined neutron flux level is approximately 0.3 of the nuclear heating flux. This level is about 3 times as high as the current test upper limit specified in the test procedure. Then, the findings from this work were successfully applied to Kori unit 4 cycle 7 and Yonggwang unit 1 cycle 7 physics tests.
This study was conducted to determine the relationship between the body fat percent (BF%) and body mass index (BMI) of Koreans and the differences with Caucasians. Complete data were collected from 3297 subjects (2441females and 856 males) between the ages of 18 and 79. Data were collected between September 2001 and November 2001 in Seoul and Pusan. For the statistical analysis, only the data on subjects between the ages of 18 and 65(3200) were used Body weight and height were measured BMI (kg/$m^2$) was computed From BMI, BF (%) was calculated using age- and sex-specific prediction formulas. BF% was assessed using an INBODY 2.0 body fat analyser. Data analysis showed that the females were significantly younger than the males, were smaller, lighter and had a lower body mass index. Body fat percent of the females was higher than that of the males. 1he differences between actual measured BF% and BF% as predicted from prediction equations from the literature, based on BMI, age and sex, were correlated with level of body fat and age. There is a significant age-related decrease in body fat in Koreans for any given BMI and sex, which is remarkably different compared to age-related increases in body fat in the European reference group. For the same age and BF%, Korean females have a slightly lower BMI than their European counterparts. Korean males have, for the same age and BF%, a higher BMI than their European counterparts. The differences between females and males were not significant. It was concluded that, assuming that the data on body fat percent was correct, that the relationship between BF% and BMI is quite different in Koreans than in European Caucasians. Thus, for younger Koreans cut-off values for obesity should be slightly lower than those for Caucasians whereas for older Koreans the cut-off points for obesity should be higher than those for Caucasians.

The structural deterioration of concrete structures due to reinforcement corrosion is a major worldwide problem. Service life of the age-degraded concrete structures is governed by the protective action provided by the cover concrete against the susceptibility of the reinforcement to the corrosive environment. The corrosion of steel would result in the various corrosion products, which depending on the level of the oxidation may have much greater volume than the original iron that gets consumed by the process of corrosion. This volume expansion would be responsible for exerting the expansive radial pressure at the steel-concrete interface resulting in the development of hoop tensile stresses in the surrounding cover concrete. Once the maximum hoop tensile stress exceeds the tensile strength of the concrete, cracking of cover concrete would take place. The cracking begins at the steel-concrete interface and propagates outwards and eventually resulting in the through cracking of the cover concrete. The cover cracking would indicate the loss of the service life for the corrosion-affected structures. In the present paper, analytical models have been developed considering the residual strength of the cracked concrete and the stiffness provided by the combination of the reinforcement and expansive corrosion products. The problem is modeled as a boundary value problem and the governing equations are expressed in terms of the radial displacement. The analytical solutions are presented considering a simple 2-zone model for the cover concrete viz. cracked or uncracked. A sensitivity analysis has also been carried out to show the influence of the various parameters of the proposed models. The time to cover cracking is found to be function of initial material properties of the cover concrete and reinforcement plus corrosion products combine, type of rust products, rate of corrosion and the residual strength of the cover concrete. The calculated cracking times are correlated against the published experimental and analytical reference data.

Simulation method for a pure radio-frequency (rf) mode of reflection-type and a pure rf mode of transmission-type radio-frequency single-electron transistor (RF-SET) operation is introduced. In this method, the solutions of differential equations based on Kirchhoff's law are obtained self-consistently at frequency-domain. Also, the steady-sate single-electron transistor (SET) current model and the time-dependent SET current model are used in this method. The reflected wave of a typical reflection-type RF-SET and the transmitted wave of a typical transmission-type RF-SET are calculated, and the accuracy of our developed method including the steady-state SET current model is verified with the method introduced by reference 2. At high frequency over GHz, results of our developed method including the time-dependent SET current model are considerably different from that including the steady-state SET current model. At high frequency over GHz, an exact time-dependent SET current model is needed to analyze RF-SET operation.

A nonlinear creep function incorporated into the elastic visco-plastic model may describe the long-term soil deformation more accurately. However, by applying the conventional procedure, there are challenges to determine the model parameters due to limitation of suitable data points. This paper presents a numerical solution to obtain several parameters simultaneously for a nonlinear elastic visco-plastic (EVP) model using the available consolidation data. The finite difference scheme using the Crank-Nicolson procedure is applied to solve a set of coupled partial differential equations of the time dependent strain and pore water pressure dissipation. The model parameters are determined by applying the algorithm of trust-region reflective optimisation in conjunction with the finite difference solution. The proposed method utilises all available consolidation data during dissipation of the excess pore water pressure to determine the required model parameters. Moreover, the reference time in the elastic visco-plastic model can readily be adopted as a unit of time; denoting creep is included in the numerical predictions explicitly from the very first time steps. In this paper, the settlement predictions of thick soft clay layers are presented and discussed to evaluate and compare the accuracy and reliability of the proposed method against the graphical procedure to obtain the model parameters. In addition, comparison of the available experimental results to the numerical predictions confirms the accuracy of the numerical procedure.

An optimized spudcan was designed for the Southwestern Sea, an area mostly comprised of sand and soft clay layers. The spudcan was designed using guidelines by SNAME, ISO, and InSafeJIP, as well as the yield surface for combined loads. The probe test method was applied to define a yield surface used in estimating spudcan stability. Numerical analyses that considered vertical, horizontal, and moment loads in Southwestern Sea resulted in a design of 8 m diameter spudcan. Additionally, the empirical equations suggested by previous studies can estimate a reasonable spudcan bearing capacity at shallow depth. Each yield surface calculated from Mohr Coulomb and Hardening soil model showed different shapes, however the yield surface also grew with increasing spudcan diameter. This yield surface is a useful reference, along with site investigation results and published guidelines, to estimate the stability of a spudcan in the Southwestern Sea.
Shear wave velocity is widely used as an parameter for investigating subsurface characteristics and for obtaining the design parameters based on theoretical equations. This study seeks to estimate the coefficient of shear wave velocity in Busan clay via laboratory tests. Eight specimens were extracted at depths of 10, 12, 15, 20, 22, 25, 30, and 31 m. The specimens were subjected to the consolidation test to determine the relationship between effective stress and shear wave velocity. The relationship shows a non-linear trend and is similar to the results of a previous study. The coefficient shows constant coverage and a relationship between ${\alpha}$ and ${\beta}$ is suggested. The results demonstrate that this coefficient could be used as a reference value to determine engineering parameters based on the shear wave velocity.

Although the Hazen-Williams C factors are very important in the design, operation, and maintenance of water supply pipes, sufficient studies for them have been not reported in korea, which are based on experiments or measured data. Because of this, we have estimated C factors by measurement considering constraints in time precise safety diagnosis for multi-regional water supply system were performed. In this study, we confirmed constraints and variables characteristics of Hazen-Williams equation, and collected reliable C factors data of 174 by measurement, and analyzed their characteristics. According to collected data, the average value is 115.35, which is almost equal to the value of design standard or a little higher than it in korea. Also, among the equations suggested to determine C factor in the past, the C factors calculated by Sharp and Walski equation was closest to them in this study. In addition, to analyze collected C factors, use year and pipe diameter having high correlation with them were respectively divided into there categories. Analysis results showed that C factors evidently decreases depending on increases in use year, on the other hand, size of pipe diameter is proportional to value of them. In conclusion, this research showing evaluation and characteristics for C factors based on measured data will be used as practical reference in determining C factor in multi-regional water supply systems at a later date.

The use of fibre optic probes for NIR quality control in the industry is becoming very important, as it provides a powerful tool to reduce sample analysis time and it facilitates the implementation of on-line analyses. However, most of the applications of fibre optics and probes have been done on suspensions, clear liquids and films, chemical and pharmaceutical products and also on fruits and animal products. Traditional applications of near infrared spectroscopy in agriculture have been developed in reflectance mode and calibration transfer could be an interesting way to reduce efforts. Classical methods for calibration transfer between different instruments involve the use of sealed reference cups, but, as fibre optic analysis does not use cups, it is necessary to develop new methods for calibration transfer without standards (Blank et al., 1996). In this paper, we have studied how the most used mathematical pretreatments (three methods of Multiplicative Scatter Correction, Standard Normal Variate, Detrending and derivatives) and their combinations applied to calibration development can contribute to reduce spectral differences between instruments. Calibration equations were obtained for three sets of cereals (barley, wheat and maize) scanned in reflectance mode and then they were validated with samples analysed in reflectance and interactance-reflectance mode (fibre optic). Preliminary results show how some combination of pretreatments reduce the differences in the predicted values, measured as standard error of differences, facilitating the use of calibrations obtained in reflectance for samples analysed by interactance-reflectance. However, the application of pretreatments is not enough to satisfy the control limits for calibration transfer suggested by Shenk et al. (1992), and it should be necessary to combine them with a specific algorithm for instruments standardization.
