Most of the control problem is for the redundant manipulators use the pseudo-inverse control, thit is, the redundancy is resolved by the pseudo-inverse of the Jacobian matrix and then the controller is designed based on this resolution. However, this pseudo-inverse control has some problems when the redundant robot repeats the cyclic tasks. This is because the pseudo-inverse resolution is a local solution that generates the different configurations of the robot arm for the same hand position. Therefore it is necessary to find the global solution that maintains the optimal configuration of the robot for the repetitive tasks. In this paper, we want to propose a redundancy resolution method by the optimal theory that uses the calculus of variation. The problem formulations are : first to convert the optimal resolution problem to an optimal control problem and then to resolve the redundancy using the necessary conditions of optimal control.

This paper presents an impact control algorithm for reducing the potentially damaging effects by interation of redundant manipulators with their environments. In the. proposed control algorithm, the redundancy is resolved at the torque level by locally minimizing joint torque, subject to tire operational space dynamic formulation which maps tire joint torque set into the operational forces. For a given pre-impact velocity of the manipulator, the proposed approach is on generating joint space trajectories throughout the motion near the contact which instantaneously minimize the impulsive force which is a scalar function of manipulator's configurations. This is done by using the null space dynamics which does not affect the motion of an end-effector. The comparative evaluation of the proposed algorithm with a local torque optimization algorithm without reducing impact is performed by computer simulation. The simulation results illustrate the effectiveness of the algorithm in reducing both the effects of impact and large torque requirements.
Force control of robotic mechanisms continues to be a challenging area. Previous implementation have seldom produced satisfactory results, and researchers in the past have experienced significant instability problems associated with their force controllers. In this study, a new stability factor in force control will be pointed out. When a manipulator is constrained to an environment(force-controlled), geometric instability due to the relationship between the manipulator configuration and the force-controlled direction is shown to be a significant factor in overall system stability. This exploratory study points out a rather intuitive, geometrically based stability factor in terms of an effective system stiffness and analyzes the phenomenon both analytically and graphically. Also, a stiffness control algorithm using the kinematic redundancy of a kinematically redundant manipulator is proposed to improve the overall stability in force control.
The distributed digital control system has many shared common components, and a single fault in the system may have effects on not a single function. Not as in an analog system, the faults in a digital system usually make discrete and abrupt changes in its output, which are hard to be expected. To cope with these situations, the fault-tolerance is an inevitable property of a distributed control system. A distributed digital control system consists of many equipments, and each equipment can be implemented by many different technologies. The fault-tolerance has to be implemented depend-ing on the overall architecture and how each equipment is implemented. The paper analyzes and compares the strategies and tactics to add the fault-tolerances in a distributed digital control system, and studies how they can be combined appropriately.
This paper addresses a control allocation method for fault-tolerant control by redistributing redundant control surfaces. The proposed method is based on a classical daisy chain approach for the compensation of faulty actuators. The existing daisy chain method calculates a desired moment according to a number of actuator groups. However, this method has a significant limitation; that is, any faulty actuator belonging to the last actuator group cannot be compensated, since there is no more redundant actuator group that can be used to generate the required moments. In this paper, a modified daisy chain method is proposed to overcome this problem. Using the proposed method, the order of actuator groups is readjusted so that actuator groups containing any faulty actuator are always placed in an upper group instead of the last one. A set of simulation results with an F-18 HARV aircraft demonstrate that the proposed method can achieve better performance than the existing daisy chain method.
A new control method for a redundant manipulator is developed using a local optimal torque and null space joint velocity. By solving the dynamic control equations of the system, the local optimal torque is obtained. If only the local optimal torque is used for controlling the robot there is a possibility that the system is unstable. To eliminate the characteristics of instability during the movements, the control law with a null space concept is used. The new method is applied to the 3-DOF planar manipulator. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
Digital technologies are required to reduce to events due to human fails clarified existing nuclear power plant. When we are trying to retrofit control rod control system from analog system to digital one, new communication network and controller is required to be constructed. In this paper, we are going to introduce experience in developing economic and reliable control rod control system construction. this proposed system consists of redundant POS, communication network, and controller to provide enhance reliability and safety.
The redundant operation of a parallel AC to DC converter via a serial communication bus is presented. The proposed system consists of three isolated CUK power factor correction modules. The controller for each converter is a dsPIC30F6010 microcontroller while a RS485 communication bus and the clock signal are used for synchronizing the data communication. The control strategy of the redundant operation relies on the communication of information among each of the modules, which communicate via a RS485 serial bus. This information is received from the communication checks of the converter module connected to the system to share the load current. Performance evaluations were conducted through experimentation on a three-module parallel-connected prototype, with a 578W load and a -48V dc output voltage. The proposed system has achieved the following: the current sharing is quite good, both the transient response and the steady state. The converter modules can perform the current sharing immediately, when a fault is found in another converter module. In addition, the transient response occurs in the system, and the output voltages are at their minimum overshoot and undershoot. Finally, the proposed system has a relatively simple implementation for the redundant operation.
Distributed Control System (DCS) communication networks, which use Fast Ethernet with redundant networks for the transmission of information, have been installed in digitalized nuclear power plants. Normally, failover tests are performed to verify the reliability of redundant networks during design and manufacturing phases; however, systematic integrity tests of DCS networks cannot be fully performed during these phases because all relevant equipment is not installed completely during these two phases. In additions, practical verification tests are insufficient, and there is a need to test the actual failover function of DCS redundant networks in the target environment. The purpose of this study is to verify that the failover functions works correctly in certain abnormal conditions during installation and commissioning phase and identify the influence of network failover on the entire DCS. To quantify the effects of network failover in the DCS, the packets (Protocol Data Units) must be collected and resource usage of the system has to be monitored and analyzed. This study introduces the use of a new methodology for verification of DCS network failover during the installation and commissioning phases. This study is expected to provide insight into verification methodology and the failover effects from DCS redundant networks. It also provides test results of network performance from DCS network failover in digitalized domestic nuclear power plants (NPPs).

There are three kinds of singularity in controlling redundant manipulators. Kinematic, algorithmic and representation singularities are those. If manipulators fall into any singularity without proper action to avoid it, the control system must go away from our desire, and we can meet a dangerous situation. Hence, we have to deal the singularities very carefully. In this paper, we describe an on-line solution for avoiding the occurrence of both algorithmic and kinematic singularities in task-priority based kinematic controllers of robotic manipulators. Representation singularity can be easily avoided by using proper representation algorithm, so, in this paper, we only consider kinematic and algorithmic singularities. The proposed approach uses a desired task reconstruction and a successive task projection in order to maintain the measure for singularity over a user defined minimum value. It shows a gain in performance and a better task error especially when working in proximity of singular configurations. It is particularly suitable for autonomous systems where an off-line trajectory control scheme is often not applicable. The advantage and performance of the proposed controller is verified by simulation works. And, the experiment with real manipulator is remaining for the future works.
