Diamond MIS(Metal-Insulator-Semiconductor) diodes and MISFETs(Metal-Insulator-Semiconductor Field Effect Transistors) were fabricated by employing various fluorides as gate insulator, and their electrical properties were closely investigated by means of C-V measurements. The A1/BaF$_2$/diamond MIS structure exhibited outstanding electrical properties. The MIS diode showed a very low surface state density of ∼10$\^$10//$\textrm{cm}^2$ eV near the valence band edge, and the observed effective mobility(${\mu}$$\_$eff/) of the MISFET was 400 $\textrm{cm}^2$/Vs, which is the highest value obtained until now in the diamond FET. From the chemiphysical point of view, the above result might be explained by the reduction of adsorbed-oxygen on the diamond surface via strong chemical reaction by the constituent Ba atom in the insulator during the film deposition(Oxygen-Gettering Effect).

Toluene, which is emitted from textile process, is considered as an important hazardous air pollutant. In this study, the catalytic activity of transition metal oxides(Cu, Mn, V, Cr, Co, Ni, Ce, Sn, Fe, Sr, Cs, Mo, La, W, Zn)/${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ catalysts was investigated to carry out the complete oxidation of toluene. The metal catalysts were characterized by XRD-ray diffraction), FE-SEM(Field Emission Scanning Electron Micrograph), BET(Brunauer Emmett Teller) method and TPR(Temperature Programmed Reduction). Among the catalysts, Cu/${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ was highly promising catalyst for the oxidation of toluene. From the BET results, it seems that the catalytic activity is not correlated to the specific surface area. XRD results indicated that most of catalysts exist as amorphous phase. From the FE-SEM results, it was observed that copper on ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ surface was well dispersed among catalysts. The catalytic activity for the toluene oxidation could be explained with that metal oxide catalyst was dispersed well over supports and was attributed to reduction activity in surface of catalysts.

Transparent conducting films having a hybrid structure of GZO/Metal/GZO were prepared on glass substrates by sequential deposition using DC magnetron sputtering. Silver, copper, aluminum and zinc thin films were used as the intermediate metal layers in the hybrid structure. The electrical and optical properties of hybrid transparent conducting films were investigated with varying the thickness of metal layer or GZO layers. With increasing the metal thickness, hybrid films showed a noticeable improvement of the electrical conductivity, which is mainly dependent on the electrical property of the metal layer. GZO(40 nm)/Ag(10 nm)/GZO(40 nm) film exhibits a resistivity of $5.2{\times}10^{-5}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ with an optical transmittance of 82.8%. For the films with Zn interlayer, only marginal reduction in the resistivity was observed. Furthermore, unlike other metals, hybrid films with Zn interlayer showed a decrease in the resistivity with increasing the GZO thickness. The optimal thickness of GZO layer for anti-reflection effect at a given thickness of metal (10 nm) was found to be critically dependent on the refractive index of the metal. In addition, x-ray diffraction analysis showed that the insertion of Ag layer resulted in the improvement of crystallinity of GZO films, which is beneficial for the electrical and optical properties of hybrid-type transparent conducting films.

Micro-dimples on sliding surfaces have been investigated to reduce the frictional forces on metal bearing surfaces; however, for an elastomer, such as thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), this has not been studied. The material properties of an elastomer are affected by temperature, and this can shorten the life of the elastomer. In this paper, micro-dimples were applied on the surface of an elastomer in order to reduce the frictional heating, which was experimentally investigated using pin-on-disk apparatus while the surface temperature was measured. To obtain optimal design parameters, the design of the experiment was applied, and the shape of the section, size, depth and density of micro-dimples were selected as the design parameters. The results show that the size of the dimple is the most important design parameter.

The object of this study is to discuss the effect of cutting fluid on the mechanism of chip formation in orthogonal cutting. Rehbinder effect has been known as a phenomenon, the reduction of mechanical strength, when the metal is exposed in a polar organic environment or the surface of metal is coated with some polar organic substances. About the cause of Rehbinder effect there have been many different ideas by Rehbinder, Merchant, Shaw, Sakakida and etc. In this report, the effects of surface active medium (magic ink) upon the mechanism of chip formation on the orthogonal cutting of copper and the mechanical properties of the work material are experimentally discussed with constant rake angle. Under the condition of polar organic environment the experimental results are as follows; 1) The chip thickness becomes thinner and slip line pitch on the free surface of chip becomes smaller than that of dried cutting area. 2) The order of alternation of cutting ratio was changed. 3) The friction angle on the tool face is not affected by the depth of cut. 4) The cutting force and shear strain on the shear plane decrease remarkably, therefore the work material must be embrittled under polar organic environment.

Small FRP(fiber-reinforced polymer) fishing ships have numerous problems with the point of the environmental and recycling perspectives. In light of these aspects, aluminum can be used as a material for ship building. It is environmental friendly, easy to recycle, and provides a high added value to fishing boats. In this paper, we report on mechanical and electrochemical characteristics of welding parts for friction stir welded 5456-H116 Al alloy. In friction stir welded at various traveling speeds under the rotation speed of 500 RPM, the best characteristics presented in traveling speed of 15mm/min. The anodic polarizations of base metal and welding metal were observed tendency which current density from the open circuit potential suddenly increase. The cathodic polarization presented concentrated polarization caused by the dissolved oxygen reduction reaction and activation polarization caused by hydrogen generation. From result of Tafel analysis, the corrosion potential of 5456 alloy(Base metal) was lower than that of friction stir welded part, as were its corrosion current densities.
Various metal ions (transition and base metals) incorporated MCM-41 catalysts can be synthesized using colloidal and soluble silica with non-sodium involved process. Transition metal ion-typically $V^{5+}$, $Co^{2+}$, and $Ni^{2+}$-incorporated MCM-41 catalysts were synthesized by isomorphous substitution of Si ions in the framework. Each incorporated metal ion created a single species in the silica framework, single-site solid catalyst, showing a substantial stability in reduction and catalytic activity. Radius of pore curvature effect was investigated with Co-MCM-41 by temperature programmed reduction (TPR). The size of metallic Co clusters, sub-nanometer, could be controlled by a proper reduction treatment of Co-MCM-41 having different pore size and the initial pH adjustment of the Co-MCM-41 synthesis solution. These small metallic clusters showed a high stability under a harsh reaction condition without serious migration, resulting from a direct anchoring of small metallic clusters to the partially or unreduced metal ions on the surface. After a complete reduction, partial occlusion of the metallic cluster surface by amorphous silica stabilized the particles against aggregations. As a probe reaction of particle size sensitivity, carbon single wall nanotubes (SWNT) were synthesized using Co-MCM-41. A metallic cluster stability test was performed by CO methanation using Co- and Ni-MCM-41. Methanol and methane partial oxidations were carried out with V-MCM-41, and the radius of pore curvature effect on the catalytic activity was investigated.

In the present study, the $CuN_x-Cu-CuN_x$ layer the partial pressure ratio Cu metal of Ar and $N_2$ gas using a DC magnetron sputtering device, was generated by the In-situ method. $CuN_x$ layer was able to obtain a surface reflectance reduction effect from the advantages of the process and the external light. $CuN_x$ layer is gas partial pressure, DC the Power, the deposition time variable transmittance in response to the thickness and partial pressure ratio, the reflectance was measured. $Ar:N_2$ gas ratio 10:10(sccm), DC power 0.35 A, was derived Deposition time 90 sec optimum conditions. Thus, according to the optimal thickness and the composition ratio was derived surface reflectance of 20.75%. In addition, to derive the value of ${\Delta}$ Ra surface roughness of 0.467. It was derived $CuN_x$ band-gap energy of about 2.2 eV. Thus, to ensure a thickness and process conditions can be absorbed to maximize the light in a wavelength band in the visible light region. As a result, the implementation of the $12k{\Omega}$ base line resistance of using the Cu metal. This is, 5 inch Metal mesh TSP(L/S: $4/270{\mu}m$) is in the range of the reference operation.

Fe-Ni-Pt nanocatalysts were loaded on carbon black powders which were synthesized by a spontaneous reduction reaction of iron (II) acetylacetonate, nickel (II) acetylacetonate and platinum (II) acetylacetonate. The morphology and the loading weight of Fe-Ni-Pt nanoparticles were characterized by transmission electron microscopy and thermogravimetric analyzer. The amount of Fe-Ni-Pt catalyst supported on the carbon black surface was about 6.42-9.28 wt%, and the higher the Fe content and the lower the Pt content, the higher the total amount of the metal catalyst supported. The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller Analysis (BET) specific surface area of carbon black itself without metal nanoparticles supported was 233.9 m2/g, and when metal nanoparticles were introduced, the specific surface area value was greatly reduced. This is because the metal nanocatalyst particles block the pore entrance of the carbon black, and thereby the catalytic activity of the metal catalysts generated inside the pores is reduced. From the I-V curves, as the content of the Pt nanocatalyst increased, the electrolytic properties of water increased, and the activity of the metal nanocatalyst was in the order of Pt > Ni > Fe.
We investigated the high-excitation voltage cathodoluminescence (CL) performance of blue light-emitting (ZnS:Ag,Al,Cl) and green light-emitting (ZnS:Cu,Al) phosphors coated with metal oxides ($SiO_2$, $Al_2O_3$, and MgO). Hydrolysis of the metal oxide precursors tetraethoxysilane, aluminum isopropoxide, and magnesium nitrate, with subsequent heat annealing at $400^{\circ}C$, produced $SiO_2$ nanoparticles, an $Al_2O_3$ thin film, and MgO scale-type film, respectively, on the surface of the phosphors. Effects of the phosphor surface coatings on CL intensities and aging behavior of the phosphors were assessed using an accelerating voltage of 12 kV. The MgO thick film coverage exhibited less reduction in initial CL intensity and was most effective in improving aging degradation. Phosphors treated with a low concentration of magnesium nitrate maintained their initial CL intensities without aging degradation for 2000 s. In contrast, the $SiO_2$ and the $Al_2O_3$ coverages were ineffective in improving aging degradation.
