Experimental and numerical studies were performed to examine the effect of material temperature and reduction ratio on friction coefficient during hot flat rolling. We carried out a single pass pilot hot flat rolling test at the temperatures range of $900{\sim}1200^{\circ}C$ and measured the spread of deformed material while reduction ratio varied from 20% to 40%. Materials used in this study were a high carbon steel and two alloy steels. The dimension of specimen used in hot rolling experiment was $50mm{\times}50mm{\times}300mm$. We performed a series of finite element simulation of the hot rolling process to compute the friction coefficient change in terms of steel grade and reduction ratio. Results showed that temperature dependency of friction coefficient is not noteworthy but the effect of reduction ratio on friction coefficient is quite large. For high carbon steel, friction coefficient at reduction ratio of 30% is lower than that at that of 20%. Meanwhile friction coefficient at reduction ratio of 40% was one and half times large compared with that at that of 20%. The effect of steel grade on friction coefficient was significant when reduction ration was large, e.g., 40%.
In this study, an approach designed to compute high temperature friction coefficients for SCM 435 steel through a pilot hot rolling test and a finite element analysis, is proposed. Single pass pilot hot flat rolling tests with reduction ratios varying from 20 to 40% were carried out at temperatures ranging from 900 to $1200^{\circ}C$. In the proposed approach, the friction coefficient is calculated by comparing the measured strip spread and the roll force with the simulation results. This study showed that the temperature and reduction ratio had a significant influence on the friction coefficient. As both material temperature and reduction ratio become higher, the friction coefficient increases monotonically. This finding is not in agreement with the Ekelund model, which is widely used in the analysis of the hot rolling process. In the present work, the friction coefficient at a reduction ratio of 40% was found to be 1.2 times greater than that at a reduction of 30%. This higher friction coefficient means that an increment of the roll thrust force is expected at the next stand. Therefore, a roll pass designer must understand this phenomenon in order to adjust the reduction ratio at the stands while keeping the driving power, the roll housing structure and the work roll strength within the allowable range.
In this study, we prepare the Ag nanofluids synthesized by the chemical reduction method and measure the extinction coefficient of those nanofluids at a wavelength of 632.8 nm. The Ag nanofluids are synthesized by the chemical reduction method using silver nitrate ($AgNO_3$) and sodium borohydride ($NaBH_4$) in water and ethylene glycol (EG). For stable dispersion of Ag particles in the base liquids, polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) is added as a surfactant. The extinction coefficient of manufactured Ag nanofluids is measured by an in-house developed measurement system at the wavelength of 632.8 nm. The results show that the extinction coefficient of water-based and EG-based Ag nanofluids is linearly increased with respect to the particle loadings. Moreover, it is shown that the extinction coefficient of EG-based Ag nanofludis is higher than that of water-based Ag nanofluids. Finally we compare the experimental results with both the Maxwell-Garnett model and Rayleigh scattering approximation model, and they demonstrate that the Rayleigh scattering approximation model is reasonably predict the extinction coefficient of Ag nanofluids using hydraulic diameter of silver nanoparticle.
This paper presents the construction of consistent coefficient matrix elements for jointed structures using the reduction of flexibility and mass matrices. The reduced flexibility coefficient matrix hat little structural complexity than Guyan's stiffness matrix reduction since the only element of the original matrix, corresponding to the selected nodal degrees of freedom, contributes. The proposed method was applied to building equivalent coefficient matrices for a clamp jointed structure in finite element modal analysis of a cantilevered beam. The theoretical analysis results were compared with those experimental modal analysis, Comparison of both shows good agreement each other.

There are six approaches to constructing standardized coefficient for logistic regression. The standardized coefficient based on Kruskal's information theory is known to be the best from a conceptual standpoint. In order to calculate this standardized coefficient, the coefficient of determination based on entropy loss is used among many kinds of coefficients of determination for logistic regression. In this paper, this standardized coefficient is obtained by using four kinds of coefficients of determination which have the most intuitively reasonable interpretation as a proportional reduction in error measure for logistic regression. These four kinds of the sixth standardized coefficient are compared with other kinds of standardized coefficients.

High speed engines with high power are increasingly on demands and almost engines employ crankshafts Such problems as bending and torsional vibrations become the point at issue in crankshaft analysis and design. In this study to overcome the diffiiculty with the large amount of computation in finite element vibration analysis of a crankshaft, a reduction method based on influence coefficient and lumped parameter is presented. which reduces the computation amount effectively and can be used in vibrational analysis and design of any types of crankshafts Crank journal and pinparts are meodelled as elements with 6degrees of freedom per node. Crank web part is modelled using equivalent mass and stiffness matices . based up on lumped parameter and influence coefficient respectively to reduce total degrees of freedom considerablely. To confirm the scheme of the study the results are compared with the known data and they are coincident. Also a simple crankshaft is designed and manufactured for experiments. The calculated results using reduction method and the experimental results agree well The scheme of this study can be utilized in evaluation results agree well. In this study, a runoff hydrograph and runoff volume were calculated by using the kinetic wave theory for small urban watersheds based on the concept of low impact development(LID), and the effective imperviousness was estimated based on these calculations. The degree of sensitivity of the effective imperviousness of small watersheds to the impervious to pervious area ratio, infiltration capability, watershed slope, roughness coefficient and surface storage depth was then analyzed. From this analysis, the following conclusions were obtained: The effective imperviousness and paved area reduction factor decreased as the infiltration capability of pervious area increased. As the slope of watersheds becomes sharper, the effective imperviousness and the paved area reduction factor display an increasing trend. As the roughness coefficient of impervious areas increases, the effective imperviousness and the paved area reduction factor tend to increase. As the storage depth increases, the effective imperviousness and the paved area reduction factor show an upward trend, but the increase is minimal. Under the conditions of this study, it was found that the effective imperviousness is most sensitive to watershed slope, followed by infiltration capability and roughness coefficient, which affect the sensitivity of the effective imperviousness at a similar level, and the storage depth was found to have little influence on the effective imperviousness.
Notably, laser surface patterning facilitates tribological applications under lubricated sliding contacts. Consequently, a special pattern that can reduce the coefficient of friction under contact is considered necessary for improved machine efficiency. However, inappropriate pattern designs produce higher friction coefficients and cannot reduce friction. In this study, we use cast iron pins as specimens to investigate their friction and wear characteristics. Moreover, we experimentally investigate the correlation between the friction reduction effect and the design of groove crosshatch patterns fabricated with various angles and widths. We conduct a friction test using a pin-on-disc type tribometer under grease lubrication to study the friction reduction effect of the specimens, and we observe that the average coefficient of friction changes with the crosshatch angle and width. The experiment reveals that grooved crosshatch specimens with a crosshatch angle of 135°maximize friction reduction. The coefficient of friction of the groove specimens with a width of 120 ㎛ is lower than that of the specimens with a width of 200?. The friction reduction effect of the width of the groove is attributed to the density of the groove pattern. Thus, grooved crosshatch patterns can be designed to maximize friction reduction, and the friction property of a grooved crosshatch pattern is found to be related to its width and angle.

The change of thermal expansion and mechanical behaviors by cold working has been investigated in Fe-29%Ni-17%Co low thermal expansion Kovar alloy. Fe-29%Ni-17%Co alloy was cold rolled gradually and prepared to plates having reduction ratio of 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80%. Annealing effect on the properties was also studied. Thermal expansion was measured from $25^{\circ}C$ to $600^{\circ}C$ with a heating rate of $5^{\circ}C$/min by using vacuum differential dilatometer. It was found that thermal expansion coefficient ($\alpha_{30{\sim}400}$) slightly decreased (reduction ration of 20%) and then remarkably increased (above reduction ration of 40%) with increasing reduction ratio of cold rolling. Thermal expansion coefficient ($\alpha_{30{\sim}400}$) was sharply decreased after annealing heat-treatment. Yield and tensile strengths were continuously increased and elongation was decreased by cold roiling. Microstructural observation and X-ray diffraction analysis results showed that the $\alpha$ phase significantly increased as the reduction ratio increased. The slight decrease of thermal expansion coefficient bellow reduction ration of 20% could be explained by the destroying short-range ordering and the decreasing of grain size. The significant increase of thermal expansion coefficient with cold rolling mainly attributed to the appearance of $\alpha$ phase. The correlation between the microstructural cause and invar phenomena for the low thermal expansion behavior was also discussed.
To estimate the structural seismic demand, some methods are based on an equivalent linear system such as the Capacity Spectrum Method, the N2 method and the Equivalent Linearization method. Another category, widely investigated, is based on displacement correction such as the Displacement Coefficient Method and the Coefficient Method. Its basic concept consists in converting the elastic linear displacement of an equivalent Single Degree of Freedom system (SDOF) into a corresponding inelastic displacement. It relies on adequate modifying or reduction coefficient such as the inelastic deformation ratio which is usually developed for systems with known ductility factors ($C_{\mu}$) and ($C_R$) for known yield-strength reduction factor. The present paper proposes a rational approach which estimates this inelastic deformation ratio for SDOF bilinear systems by rigorous nonlinear analysis. It proposes a new inelastic deformation ratio which unifies and combines both $C_{\mu}$ and $C_R$ effects. It is defined by the ratio between the inelastic and elastic maximum lateral displacement demands. Three options are investigated in order to express the inelastic response spectra in terms of: ductility demand, yield strength reduction factor, and inelastic deformation ratio which depends on the period, the post-to-preyield stiffness ratio, the yield strength and the peak ground acceleration. This new inelastic deformation ratio ($C_{\eta}$) is describes the response spectra and is related to the capacity curve (pushover curve): normalized yield strength coefficient (${\eta}$), post-to-preyield stiffness ratio (${\alpha}$), natural period (T), peak ductility factor (${\mu}$), and the yield strength reduction factor ($R_y$). For illustrative purposes, instantaneous ductility demand and yield strength reduction factor for a SDOF system subject to various recorded motions (El-Centro 1940 (N/S), Boumerdes: Algeria 2003). The method accuracy is investigated and compared to classical formulations, for various hysteretic models and values of the normalized yield strength coefficient (${\eta}$), post-to-preyield stiffness ratio (${\alpha}$), and natural period (T). Though the ductility demand and yield strength reduction factor differ greatly for some given T and ${\eta}$ ranges, they remain take close when ${\eta}>1$, whereas they are equal to 1 for periods $T{\geq}1s$.
