We investigated five ciliate species from soil, estuary and marine habitats in eastern Gangwon-do Province, South Korea. Morphology was studied through observation of living specimens as well as silver preparations. The species were classified into five genera, five families, five orders and four classes. Aspidisca aculeata, Hemiurosoma similis, Litonotus alpestris, Stentor roeselii and Vorticella infusionum are first records in Korea, and among them, the genus Hemiurosoma is recorded for the first time. Here, we provide short descriptions with microphotographs of these species.

Protogeton incertus Mayer, 1903 belonging to the family Caprellidae was collected from the South Sea, Korea. This species is very similar to Protogeton inflatus Mayer, but it is only distinguishable by the presence of biarticulate mandibular palp. Previous studies provided a very brief description of the species and lacked detailed illustration. In this study, the Korean Protogeton incertus is fully illustrated based on the mature and immature specimens.

The genus Sciasmomyia (Diptera: Lauxaniidae) was discovered for the first time in Korea. This Old World (PA and OR) genus currently includes two nominal species. In the process of revising Korean Lauxaniidae, we were able to collect Korean representatives of Sciasmomyia supraorientalis, and provide the redescriptions and illustrations of both sexes.

The three species, Synolpheus tumidomanus, Spirontocaris orcuota, Heptacarpus futilirostris, are added to the shrimp fauna of the Ulreung Island.S. turn idomanus was reported one time in Korean waters without redescription, and the present report is the second. Heptocawus futilirostris is newly recorded from the East Sea in Korean waters. With the five previously known species, the total eight species are listed and 5. tumidomanus is redescribed.

The systematic study of recent freshwater ostracods was conducted on the materials collected from 44 localities in South Korea. Four species of ostracods were identified, all of which were new to South Korea: Stenocypri'shislopi Ferguson,1969, Cypretta seuroti 6autier,1929, Potomocypris producta (Sars, 1924), and llyocvpris dentifero Sars. 1903.

The genus Dienerella Reitter and its described species are reported for the first time in Korea. Scanning Electronic Microscope (SEM) photographs of habitus and diagnostic characters, and line drawings of male genetalia are presented. All specimens of the species were collected from inside of a building associated with dried collections, but no evidence is available of the damage caused by the species.

One new copepod species (Doropygus hoi n. sp.) is described based on specimens taken from solitary ascidians collected from the East Sea (Sea of Japan) and the South Sea. Doropygus pinguis Ooishi, 1962 taken from solitary ascidians, Styela plicata (Lesueur) and Boltenia echinata (Linnaeus), collected from 8 localities of the South Sea and the East Sea are redescribed.
