With the increase in industrialization and urbanization, growing demand has enhanced rate of new constructions and old demolitions. To avoid serious environmental impacts and hazards recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) is being adopted in all over the world. This paper investigates successive recycled coarse aggregates (SRCA) in which old concrete made with RCA in form of concrete cubes was used. The cubes were crushed to prepare new concrete using aggregates from crushing of old concrete, used as SRCA. The mechanical behavior of concrete was determined containing SRCA; the properties of SRCA were evaluated and then compared with natural aggregates (NA). Replacement of NA with SRCA in ratio upto 100% by weight was studied for workability, mechanical properties and microstructural analysis. It was observed that with the increase in replacement ratio workability and compressive strength decreased but in acceptable limits so SRCA can be used in low strength concretes rather than high strength concrete structures.
This paper will describe the experimental results on the shear behaviors of reinforced concrete (RC) beam with recycled coarse aggregate (RCA). The primary objective of this research is to evaluate the influences of different RCA replacement percentage (i.e, 0%, 30%, 60%, and 100%) on the shear performance of reinforced concrete beams without shear reinforcement. Eight large-scale RC beams without shear reinforcement were manufactured and tested to shear failure. All had a rectangular cross-section with 400mm width ${\times}$ 600mm depth and 6000mm length, and were tested with a shear span-to-depth of 5.1. The results showed that the deflection and shear strength were little affected by the different RCA replacement percentage. Actual shear strength of each RCA beam was compared with the shear strength predicted using the provisions of ACI 318 code and Zsutty'e equation for shear design of RC beams. ACI 318 code predicted the shear strength of RCA reinforced concrete beams well.

Consider about aggregate's price, coarse aggregates from 13 to 25mm were widely used in ready mixed concrete company. But if only use 13 to 25mm aggregates in the concrete, gap grading problem would be occurred. When recycled aggregates from 13 to 25mm was used, continuous grading would increase the durability and strength for the concrete, meanwhile the construction waste materials would also be reused. In this paper, 5-13mm recycled aggregates was utilized, to analyse the fundamental properties for concrete, strength has been tested to evaluate the quality and reusing effect of the recycled materials.
This paper investigates the flexural behavior of reinforced recycled aggregates concrete (RRAC) beams after exposed to high temperatures. The experimental results from 17 specimens were present and compared with temperatures, recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) replacement percentages, and concrete strength as variables. It was found that the high temperature would not cause an observable change in the failure pattern. However, high temperature can significantly reduce the stiffness and ductility, and accelerate the damage degradation of specimens. After exposure to 600℃, the ultimate bearing capacity of the specimens decreased by 20%-30% The mechanical properties of RRAC beams after high temperatures were barely impacted by the replacement percentages. Increasing the concrete strength of RCA could effectively improve the bearing capacity and peak deflection of RRAC beams after exposed to high temperatures. Furthermore, the calculation method of the bending bearing capacity and deflection of RRAC beams was also discussed.

A new concept of stock preparation for the increase of bending stiffness in paper and board was proposed. The 'stiff' fibers, which were mechanically not treated or treated slightly to remove fiber curls, were combined with extensively refined fibers (ERF) to produce higher stiffness papers than those where the whole fibers were refined. The combination of 'stiff' fibers and extensively refined fibers produced higher stiffness at the same tensile strength than the control furnish, in which all the fibers are refined together. In this concept, the fibers from recycled papers could be as much useful as the virgin fibers as long as they are stiff enough or they can produce highly bondable fiber fractions by extensive refining. Use of the concept in real paper mill needs considerations such as increase of refining energy, slower drainage, and added drying burden, but savings of wood fibers, utilization of more recycled fibers, and increase of physical properties may offset the negative concerns. The success of this concept implementation in mills, therefore, depends on the wood fiber market around the mills and the proper decision making for the papermakers about how to apply this concept.

The effects of Condebelt press drying on the densification of recycled sheets made from KOCC , AOCC UKP and BKP were examined using CLSM (Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope) and thermal image analysis techniques. It was shown that significant improvement in sheet density, compression strength, tensile strength, surface smoothness was obtained by Condebelt drying. Densification effect by press drying was most prominent for recycled KOCC sheets. And this beneficial effect of Condebelt drying of increasing sheet density and strength was shown to provide opportunities of reducing the utilization ratio of AOCC for cost saving.
In this study, development of new sound absorbent which is safety, economical and efficient with using recycled materials is tried for substitution of commercial sound absorbent. The sound absorbents, used in this investigation, were made of used paper or filters of cigarette butts. With the variation of the material densities, sound absorptions of materials were measured. The impedance tube method is used for measuring sound absorption coefficient of the new sound absorbent materials. The measured frequency range was 250Hz to 4000Hz in 1/3 octave band. The sound absorption coefficient of the commercial materials and that of the materials synthesized in the our laboratory show almost same value.

This paper investigated the engineering properties of cement mortar mixed with more than 2 kinds of sand. For fresh mortar properties, unit volume weight is constant regardless of mixing content and type of sand. An increase in contents of river and crushed sand resulted in an increase in flow, whereas an increase in recycled sand contents reduced flow. Gap between maximum flow in N3C0R0 and minimum flow in N0C0R3 exhibited about $12\%$. Compressive strength at 28 days ranged from 32 to 36 MPa in order for crushed sand, river sand and recycled sand. Mortar with mixed sand along with river sand and crushed sand showed compressive strength comparable to crushed sand. An increase of fraction of recycled sand in mixed sand resulted in a decrease in compressive strength. For drying shrinkage, N0C0R3 had the largest drying shrinkage among various mixture type. The combination of large contents of recycled sand and small contents of river and crushed sand had a large amount of drying shrinkage.

This work is devoted to the study of fresh and hardened properties of concrete containing recycled gravel. Four formulations were studied, the concrete of reference and three concretes containing recycled gravel with 30, 65 and 100 % replacement ratios. All materials were formulated on the basis of S4 class of flowability and a target C35 class of compressive strength according to the standard EN 206-1. The paper first presents the mix design method which was based on the optimization of cementitious paste and granular skeleton, then discusses experimental results. The results show that the elastic modulus and the tensile strength decrease while the peak strain in compression increases. Correlation with the water porosity is also established. The validity of analytical expressions proposed by Eurocode 2 is also discussed. The obtained results, together with results from the literature, show that these relationships do not predict adequately the mechanical properties as well as the stress-strain curve of tested materials. New expressions were established to predict the elastic modulus and the peak strain from the compressive strength of natural concrete. It was found that the proposed relationship E-$f_c$ is applicable for any type of concrete while the effect of substitution has to be introduced into the stress-strain (${\varepsilon}_{c1}-f_c$) relationship for recycled aggregate concrete. For the full stress-strain curve, the model of Carreira and Chu seems more adequate.
