  • This paper presents a recursive least square estimation algorithm to estimate parameters of the vector controlled induction machine based on measurements of the stator voltage, curents and slip frequency. Due to its recursive structure, this algorithm has the potential to be used for on-line estimation and adaptive control. The algorithm is designed using regression model derived from the motor electrical equation. This model is valid when there is a tittle-scale separation between vector control system and adaptive system. Vector control performed at fast stage and slow stage is in charge of parameters estimation. The performance of tile algorithm is illustrated by means of simulation results and experiment.

  • In this paper we obtain a discrete mathmatical model of a Boiler control system from expermental data, we find appropriate input signal and parameter estimation algorithm for identification of the Boiler control system in power plant. Under these conditions experimental data are collected from real system and parameters are estimated by the Recursive Least Square algorithm. The computer simulation results show the parameter estimation algorithm for identification and the effectiveness of controller design of the Boiler control system.

  • In this paper, passive telemetry capacitive humidity sensor system using a RLSE(Recursive Least Square Estimation) technique is proposed. To overcome the problem like power limits and complications that general passive telemetry sensor system including IC chip has, the principle of inductive coupling is applied to model the sensor system. Specially. by applying the forgetting factor we show that the accuracy of its estimation can be improved even in the case of time varying parameter and also the convergence time can be reduced.

  • 하이브리드 전기자동차용 리튬이온 배터리 시스템의 모델링 및 모델기반 상태 관측기 설계에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 배터리의 동적 특성을 모사하기 위한 모델은 전기적 등가회로로 단순화하여 제안하였다. 모델 파라미터는 최소 자승 이론에 의거 다양한 운전조건에 따라 추정하였고, 실험 검증하였다. 검증된 모델을 기반으로 하는 비례-적분(PI) 제어의 상태 관측기를 구성하였고, 제어 이득 선정방법을 제안하였다. 제안된 상태 관측기의 강인성은 시뮬레이션 및 실험에 의거 다양한 운전조건 변동에 따른 민감도를 분석하여 검증하였다.

  • This paper proposes a model-prediction-based collision-avoidance algorithm for excavators for which the recursive-least-squares (RLS) estimation of the excavator's rotational inertia is used. To estimate the rotational inertia of the excavator, the RLS estimation with multiple forgetting and two updating rules for the nominal parameter and the forgetting factors was conducted based on the excavator-swing dynamics. The average value of the estimated rotational inertia that is for the minimizing effects of the estimation error was computed using the recursive-average method with forgetting. Based on the swing dynamics, the computed average of the rotational inertia, the damping coefficient for braking, and the excavator's braking angle were predicted, and the predicted braking angle was compared with the detected-object angle for a safety evaluation. The safety level defined in this study consists of the three levels safe, warning, and emergency braking. The analytical rotational-inertia-based performance evaluation of the designed estimation algorithm was conducted using a typical working scenario. The results of the safety evaluation show that the predictive safety-evaluation algorithm of the proposed model can evaluate the safety level of the excavator during its operation.

An Innovative Application Method of Monthly Load Forecasting for Smart IEDs

  • This paper develops a new Intelligent Electronic Device (IED), and then presents an application method of a monthly load forecasting algorithm on the smart IEDs. A Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) model implemented with Recursive Least Square (RLS) estimation is established in the algorithm. Case Study proves the accuracy and reliability of this algorithm and demonstrates the practical meanings through designed screens. The application method shows the general way to make use of IED's smart characteristics and thereby reveals a broad prospect of smart function realization in application.

반복 최소 자승법을 이용한 전자식 스로틀 바디의 PID 이득 자동 조정 (PID Gain Auto Tuning of ETB by Using RLS)

  • This paper presents a PID automatic gain-tuning algorithm for the electronic throttle valve which is driven by wire. Since the system characteristics of position control for electronic throttle valve are so complicated that both the real time robustness and the manufacturing cost must be considered for mass production. To resolve this paradox, a kind of algorithm called RLS (Recursive Least Square) is adopted for the control of the ETB (Electronic Throttle Body). Using this algorithm, the PID gains can be adjusted automatically with the estimated system parameters. Furthermore, a pre-filter is supplemented for the sake of the robustness against the friction and loads. From the industrial requests for the system, the design specifications are decided as follows: the settling time should be less than 1sec and the overshoot should be kept below 3%. The results of the experiments based on this approach show that the high robustness can be achieved while the system stability is satisfied steadily. A parameter estimation scheme and a gain-tuning algorithm have been properly combined and utilized in this research and the effectiveness is verified through the real experiments.

밀링공정의 적응모델링과 공구마모 검출을 위한 신경회로망의 적용 (Adaptive Milling Process Modeling and Nerual Networks Applied to Tool Wear Monitoring)

  • This paper introduces a new monitoring technique which utilizes an adaptive signal processing for feature generation, coupled with a multilayered merual network for pattern recognition. The cutting force signal in face milling operation was modeled by a low order discrete autoregressive model, shere parameters were estimated recursively at each sampling instant using a parameter adaptation algorithm based on an RLS(recursive least square) method with discounted measurements. The influences of the adaptation algorithm parameters as well as some considerations for modeling on the estimation results are discussed. The sensitivity of the extimated model parameters to the tool state(new and worn tool)is presented, and the application of a multilayered neural network to tool state monitoring using the previously generated features is also demonstrated with a high success rate. The methodology turned out to be quite suitable for in-process tool wear monitoring in the sense that the model parameters are effective as tool state features in milling operation and that the classifier successfully maps the sensors data to correct output decision.

  • 본 연구에서는 RLS(Rescursive Least Square) 알고리즘을 이용하여 정전용량형 습도센서를 사용한 원격 RF 센서 시스템의 시변 파라메타를 추정하고자 한다. IC 칩 형태의 원격 RF 센서 시스템이 가지는 구성의 복잡성 그리고 전력소모 문제를 해결하기 위해 보다 간단한 유도결합모델이 제안된다. 모델기반의 RLS 알고리즘을 수학적인 모델로 유도된 시스템에 적용시키기 위해 페이저법을 이용하여 모델의 파라메타를 재배열한다. 오차 제곱합의 수렴특성을 가진 RLS 알고리즘을 이용하여 시변 파라메타를 추정하며, 잡음을 내포한 측정 데이터에 대한 추정 성능을 확인함으로써 그 유효성을 검증하고자 한다.

  • 선형 서보 응용분야에 사용되는 속도제어기를 정밀하게 조정하기 위해서는 부하를 포함한 가동부 전체의 정밀한 질량이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 수직축 선형 영구자석 동기전동기의 가동부 질량을 추정하기 위한 방법으로 축차 최소자승 추정 알고리즘을 적용한 질량 추정방법을 제안한다. 먼저 수직축 선형 영구자석 동기 전동기의 기계적인 동적 시스템에 대한 DARMA(deterministic autoregressive moving average)모델을 유도하고, 유도된 DARMA모델에 축차 최소자승 추정 방법을 적용한 질량 추정방법을 제안하며, Matlab/Simulink를 이용한 시뮬레이션 및 실험 결과를 제시하여 제안한 방법으로 수직축 질량을 무부하 및 부하 시 모두 정밀하게 추정할 수 있음을 보였다.
