Breast cancer incidence continues to increase, and survival rates are also increasing compared to the past. An increase in breast cancer survivors means an increase in the number of women who return to their life after treatment. These patients feared cancer recurrence, which makes it an important aspect to be studied among breast cancer survivors. Therefore, this study was aimed at analyzing the concept of breast cancer survivors' fear of recurrence. The procedure of concept analysis developed by Walker and Avant (2011) was used to clarify and describe the concept. Studies published from 2007 to 2017 were searched through domestic and foreign electronic databases. Finally, 15 studies were selected and included in analysis. Through concept analysis, the scope of use of the fear of recurrence among breast cancer survivors was confirmed, and concept analysis was performed to confirm the antecedent, consequences, attributes and empirical criteria. Based on the analysis, the attributes of the fear of recurrence among breast cancer survivors included 1) worry about health status, 2) ineffective coping, and 3) possibility of changes. The antecedents of the fear of recurrence among breast cancer survivors were 1) healthcare-related activity, 2) perception of cancer, and 3) perceived severity; the consequences were 1) increase in distress, 2) difficulty in role function, and 3) decrease in the quality of life. This study provides a clear definition of the fear of recurrence among breast cancer survivors, and the results can be applied to improve the understanding of breast cancer survivors who have finished treatment and to help them return to daily life.

Microscopic surgery of the larynx normally have a low recurrence rate. However, once they do recur, it is uneasy to manage recurrent diseases. Recurrence is often the result of inappropriate postoperative care and voice management. Out of the 764 patients operated for benign inflammatory laryngeal diseases, we have conducted a clinical analysis of 54 cases who have had at least one episode of recurrence after the initial treatment with laryngomicrosurgery (7.1% of recurrence rate). High risk groups for recurrence were determined, and they were related to cigarette smoking, alcohol intake, laryngopharyngeal reflux. From our experience and literature review, we conclude that pre- and postoperative patient education concerning these risk factors and voice usage Is of critical need to prevent recurrence of inflammatory laryngeal lesions after laryngomicrosurgery.
A recurrence plot can be used as a graphical exploratory data analysis tool before confirmatory time series analysis. With the recurrence plot, we can obtain the structural pattern of the time series and recognize the structural change points in a time series at a glance. Korean stock data shows the usefulness of the recurrence plot as a graphical exploratory data analysis tool for time series data.

Objective: It is difficult to predict the treatment response of tissue after stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) because radiation necrosis (RN) and tumor recurrence can coexist. Our study aimed to predict tumor recurrence, including the recurrence site, after SRS of brain metastasis by performing a longitudinal tumor habitat analysis. Materials and Methods: Two consecutive multiparametric MRI examinations were performed for 83 adults (mean age, 59.0 years; range, 27-82 years; 44 male and 39 female) with 103 SRS-treated brain metastases. Tumor habitats based on contrast-enhanced T1- and T2-weighted images (structural habitats) and those based on the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and cerebral blood volume (CBV) images (physiological habitats) were defined using k-means voxel-wise clustering. The reference standard was based on the pathology or Response Assessment in Neuro-Oncologycriteria for brain metastases (RANO-BM). The association between parameters of single-time or longitudinal tumor habitat and the time to recurrence and the site of recurrence were evaluated using the Cox proportional hazards regression analysis and Dice similarity coefficient, respectively. Results: The mean interval between the two MRI examinations was 99 days. The longitudinal analysis showed that an increase in the hypovascular cellular habitat (low ADC and low CBV) was associated with the risk of recurrence (hazard ratio [HR], 2.68; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.46-4.91; P = 0.001). During the single-time analysis, a solid low-enhancing habitat (low T2 and low contrast-enhanced T1 signal) was associated with the risk of recurrence (HR, 1.54; 95% CI, 1.01-2.35; P = 0.045). A hypovascular cellular habitat was indicative of the future recurrence site (Dice similarity coefficient = 0.423). Conclusion: After SRS of brain metastases, an increased hypovascular cellular habitat observed using a longitudinal MRI analysis was associated with the risk of recurrence (i.e., treatment resistance) and was indicative of recurrence site. A tumor habitat analysis may help guide future treatments for patients with brain metastases.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate physical activity as a risk factor for neck pain recurrence using the National Health Insurance Data Sharing Service that utilizes a nationwide cohort in South Korea. Methods: Medical records spanning a two-year period were extracted from the National Health Insurance database for 541,937 patients who sought healthcare services for neck pain (ICD 10 codes: M54.2) in 2020 and completed the national health examination survey. Selected variables for analysis included age, gender, health insurance premium decile, regional health vulnerability index, body mass index (BMI), acuity, blood pressure, and types of physical activity. A mixed-effect multivariate logistic regression analysis was conducted to examine the recurrence rate of neck pain and identify risk factors for neck pain recurrence. Results: Among the participants, 124,433 patients (23.0%) experienced a recurrence of neck pain within two years, with higher recurrence rates observed among older individuals and females. Regression analysis revealed that the risk of neck pain recurrence increased with age (OR=1.51), being female (OR= 1.10), being a medical aid recipient (OR=1.51), and having anaerobic (OR=1.04) or vigorous physical activities (OR=1.06). By contrast, an increased health insurance premium decile (OR=0.96) and having moderate physical activity (OR=0.97) were associated with a decreased risk of neck pain recurrence. Conclusion: This study highlights the importance of moderate physical activity as an effective strategy for reducing the recurrence of nonspecific neck pain, underscoring the necessity for personalized physical activity programs for patients.
Objectives: To demonstrate effective diagnostic method and proper management of recurrent thyroid cancer through to compare treatment and surveillance of $I^{131}$ scanning detected recurrence and clinically detected recurrence. Material and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed clinical information about 46 patients who has recurrent thyroid cancer of 298 patients who have been primarily operated due to thyroid cancer in PMC at the over 10 years between 1986 and 1995. We examine incidence of recurrence due to pathologic types, site of recurrence, disease free interval, detection method of recurrence, and also treatment and progression of recurrence. A patients in which the clinical examination was entirely negative and the $I^{131}$ scan demonstrated either a new area of $I^{131}$ uptake or an increased area of concentration, compared to the previous scan, was designated as a recurrence detected by $I^{131}$ scan only. Recurrences that were obviously by physical examination or chest x-ray, etc were considered clinically detected recurrence, regardless of the the results of the thyroid scan. Results: Mean of disease tree interval(DFI) is 36months. When mean DFI of $I^{131}$ scan detected recurrence is 28months, whereas mean DFI of clinically detected recurrence is 47months. In statiscal analysis, p-value is 0.043 as significantly. In progression of recurrent patient, NED is 28case, AWD is Sease, DOD is 13case. Among the 13case, scan detected recurrence is lease of 20 patients(5%), whereas clinically detected recurrence is l2case of 26 patient(46%). In statiscal analysis, p-value is 0.003 as significantly. Conclusion: Early detection of the recurrent thyroid cancer by $I^{131}$ scanning leads to good progress compare with detection by clinical examination. NED: No Evidence of Disease AWD : Alive With Disease DOD : Dead Of Disease DOC: Dead of Other Cause
Objective : Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is one of the most frequent problems encountered in neurosurgery. Although burr-hole trephination is widely performed to treat CSDH, the incidence rate of recurrent CSDH is still 2-37%. The goal of this study is to determine the risk factors that affect recurrent CSDH. Methods : A total of 182 patients were included in this study who underwent burr-hole trephination. The clinical factors and radiographic features between the recurrence and the no recurrence groups were analyzed to find the parameters related to the postoperative recurrence of CSDH. Results : For the recurrence of CSDH that occurred in 25 patients (13.7%), among various risk factors, pre and postoperative midline displacements, which are more than 10 mm (p=0.000), and preoperative hemiparesis (p=0.026) had contributed to recurrent CSDH with statistical significance by univariate analysis. Unilateral CSDH were more frequently related to recurrent CSDH (16.3%), although it was not a statistical significant result (p=0.052). Furthermore, preoperative midline displacement only had statistical meaning for the recurrence of CSDH by multivariate analysis. Conclusion : This study indicates that the midline displacement on the preoperative computed tomography scan is the only independent predictor for the recurrence of CSDH.
Objectives: In these days, patients with stage I breast cancer have increased by regular health examination and diagnostic tool development. The aim of this retrospective study is to identify systemic recurrence related factors after breast conserving surgery (BCS) for stage I breast cancer. Methods: In this study, we analyzed the correlation between systemic recurrence and pathologic factors. We reviewed 223 patients who underwent BCS for stage I breast cancer. Postoperative pathologic factors, recurrent rates and sites were studied. In addition, preoperative patients'data were also collected. Statistical analysis was done by using PASW 16.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). Results: Systemic recurrence was found in 16 patients (7.17%) within 5 years after primary surgery. 5 patients had lymphatic invasion and 6 patients had vascular invasion. Lymphatic and vascular invasion had statistical correlation with systemic recurrence (P = 0.004, P = 0.001). Conclusions: In this retrospective study, we can conclude that vascular invasion and lymphatic invasion are related systemic recurrence after BCS for stage I patients. Further studies with large cohort will be required to fully understand the risk factors of systemic recurrence for stage I breast cancer patients.
This article reports on the analysis of the patterns and frequency of recurrences of substantiated instances of maltreatment in the Child Protective System (CPS). The data was collected from 2012 to 2014 by the CPS. Five-thousand-five-hundred-forty-two cases were substantiated in 2012 and then 323 cases were exposed recurrence during that time. Most recurrence families experienced only one recurrence. Results from survival analyses instances indicated that risk of recurrence was greatest during the first one month following a report. The prior CPS report, multiple type of abuse, physical abuse, and services type was linked the pattern of recurrence of maltreatment. Also, victim's age and the number of problematic behavior, perpetrator's stress and social isolation, intra family member as perpetrator, prior CPS report, and the number of reports was linked recurrence.
Objective: To categorize the radiological patterns of recurrence after bevacizumab treatment and to derive the pooled proportions of patients with recurrent malignant glioma showing the different radiological patterns. Materials and Methods: A systematic literature search in the Ovid-MEDLINE and EMBASE databases was performed to identify studies reporting radiological recurrence patterns in patients with recurrent malignant glioma after bevacizumab treatment failure until April 10, 2019. The pooled proportions according to radiological recurrence patterns (geographically local versus non-local recurrence) and predominant tumor portions (enhancing tumor versus non-enhancing tumor) after bevacizumab treatment were calculated. Subgroup and meta-regression analyses were also performed. Results: The systematic review and meta-analysis included 17 articles. The pooled proportions were 38.3% (95% confidence interval [CI], 30.6-46.1%) for a geographical radiologic pattern of non-local recurrence and 34.2% (95% CI, 27.3-41.5%) for a non-enhancing tumor-predominant recurrence pattern. In the subgroup analysis, the pooled proportion of non-local recurrence in the patients treated with bevacizumab only was slightly higher than that in patients treated with the combination with cytotoxic chemotherapy (34.9% [95% CI, 22.8-49.4%] versus 22.5% [95% CI, 9.5-44.6%]). Conclusion: A substantial proportion of high-grade glioma patients show non-local or non-enhancing radiologic patterns of recurrence after bevacizumab treatment, which may provide insight into surrogate endpoints for treatment failure in clinical trials of recurrent high-grade glioma.
