The purpose of this study is to summarize recent research on new product development (NPD) and to examine the direction of future research on NPD. In recent years, product development has also become more diversified due to the formation and disappearance of new markets, the increasing commoditization of products, and the emergence of new technological infrastructures such as ICT and crowdsourcing. In addition, NPD research is also in a situation where new research is emerging along with the progress of research in related areas, such as open innovation and customer participation. On the other hand, research on NPD has become increasingly fragmented into themes related to NPD as research progresses, making it more difficult to grasp the overall picture of NPD research, although review articles on NPD have been written. Not many review articles have been written in a way that goes beyond the individual themes of NPD research. However, even though it is impossible to look at NPD research as a whole, this study believe that by daring to conduct an exhaustive review of recent NPD research, rather than individual issues, and by understanding the types of discussions that have taken place in recent NPD research, this study can identify areas that require further discussion. Based on the above, the purpose of this study is to comprehensively examine and organize the topics and issues that have been dealt with in recent NPD research, point out the topics that have not been adequately dealt with in previous research, and indicate the direction of future research. This study found that (1) half of the previous studies this study reviewed dealt with the topic of collaboration in NPD, (2) existing studies on NPD assume that the purpose of NPD is to gain competitive advantage through differentiation, but the formation of the market itself through NPD has not been discussed However, it became clear that there has been no discussion of the formation of the market itself through NPD. While the formation and disappearance of new markets has become a common phenomenon in recent years as the competitive environment changes more and more rapidly, the formation of new markets through NPD may also be discussed as a new research area of NPD. However, the formation of new markets through NPD could be discussed as a new research area of NPD. This study examined the possibility of discussing the formation of new markets through NPD by using market category studies.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common cardiac rhythm disturbance, which carries significant cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. The medical treatment for AF is cumbersome and unsatisfactory, which has highlighted the need to develop alternative treatments for AF. The recent discovery that AF is often initiated by atrial ectopic beats has resulted in treatments designed to target the ectopic sources, particularly those within the pulmonary veins. Building on the pioneering work of Cox et al., a recent reported series demonstrated the feasibility of treating patients undergoing cardiac surgery for other structural heart diseases with limited, left-atrial ablation lesion sets using alternative energy sources. As less complex modifications of the Maze procedure have been developed, a number of energy sources have been introduced to create of electrically isolating lesions within the atria. These sources have been used both endocardially in arrest heart procedures as well as epicardially in a beating heart setting. This review summarizes the recent advances in surgery for AF that will aid in the development of an effective, minimally invasive surgical procedure to cure patients with AF.
This study reviewed recent trends in climate research by Korean climatologists. We analyzed six domestic journals listed in the Korean Citation Index and four international journals listed in the Science Citation Index during 2001-2011. Research on climate change has rapidly increased during the study period and studies on precipitation variability have been given continual attentions among Korean climatologists. In climate change research, meteorologists focused on characteristics, prediction, and causes while geographers were more interested in characteristics and impacts of climate change. In applied climatology and bioclimatology, research on the impacts of climate change on agriculture, livestock, vegetation, and human health has increased under recent climate change. While there has been steady interest in climatography by Korean climatologists, the number of papers has generally decreased over the recent period.

We examined long-term variations in sea surface temperature (SST) and annual amplitudes of SST around the Korean Peninsula. Two SST data sets with data periods of approximately 51 years and longer than 100 years, respectively, were obtained from the National Institute of Fisheries Science and Japan Meteorological Agency. SST of Korean waters clearly increased during last 51 years (1968-2018), which was 2.5 times higher than the global trend. This significant increasing trend was caused by the dominant increasing SST trend during winter. However, a negative and positive SST anomaly frequently appeared during winter and summer, respectively, in a recent decade. These features of seasonal SST variation have changed the annual amplitude of SST, and resulted in a drastically increasing trend after 2009. Using the longer SST data set, it was revealed that the decreasing SST trend in winter began in the 2000s and the increasing SST trend in summer bagan in the 1990s. During a recent decade, there was a distinctive SST increase in summer, whereas a clear decrease in winter. In summary, the annual amplitude of SST around the Korean Peninsula significantly changed from a decreasing trend to an increasing trend during a recent decade.
The recent Great Recession of 2008 was a period of sharp economic decline throughout the late 2000s. All socio-demographic groups were impacted by the economic downturn, however, Hispanic households were particularly hard hit. It is not a recent phenomenon that minority groups often have greater problems related to credit and debt repayments. A better understanding of these racial/ethnic differences in credit and debt has been hindered by the propensity of many studies to pool all racial/ethnic minorities together and compare them to white households. Using a Heckman-type selection model with a combination of the 2010 and 2013 Survey of Consumer Finances datasets to study household debt repayment problems, we found that racial/ethnic groups have been differently impacted by the recent Great Recession in terms of debt repayment problems. Hispanic households were less likely to hold debt; however, those with debt were just as likely as white households and African American households to be delinquent in repayments. This finding is contrary to prior research that indicated Hispanics with debt were less likely than white and African American households to be delinquent on repayments prior to the Great Recession of 2008. We propose possible explanations for the increase in debt repayment problems, that includes increased assimilation into the U.S. culture of credit use, the circumstance of being more recent home buyers prior to the decline, and living in states that suffered the greatest decline in housing value.
Auxins are essential in plant growth and development. The auxin-stimulated elongation of plant cells has been explained by the "acid-growth theory", which was proposed forty years ago. According to this theory, the auxin activates plasma membrane $H^+-ATPase$ to induce proton extrusion into the apoplast, promoting cell expansion through the activation of cell wall-loosening proteins such as expansins. Even though accepted as the classical theory of auxin-induced cell growth for decades, the major signaling components comprising this model were unknown, until publication of recent reports. The major gap in the acid growth theory is the signaling mechanism by which auxin activates the plasma membrane $H^+-ATPase$. Recent genetic, molecular, and biochemical approaches reveal that several auxin-related molecules, such as TIR1/AFB AUX/IAA coreceptors and SMALL AUXIN UP RNA (SAUR), serve as important components of the acid-growth model, phosphorylating and subsequently activating the plasma membrane $H^+-ATPase$. These researches reestablish the four-decade-old theory by providing us the detailed signaling mechanism of auxininduced cell growth. In this review, we discuss the recent research progress in auxin-induced cell elongation, and a set of possible future works based on the reestablished acid-growth model.
In this study, characteristics and trends of tropical night (TN) are investigated by using the KMA 14 observation data for the recent 50 years (1958-2007) over South Korea. The TN is defined as a day with a daily minimum temperature exceeds the absolute threshold temperature ($25^{\circ}C$), and the relative deviation from normal temperature, 95th percentile of all observed daily minimum temperature. Although the spatial distribution of TN occurrence depends on the choice of the definitions, the frequency of TN shows strong spatial and interannual variations with the minimum at high land area (Chupungnyeong and wet years) and maximum at southern coastal area and large city area (Jeju, Busan, Seoul, Daegu). Most of TN occurs in August (56%) and July (41%), and the duration date of TN is proportional to the frequency of TN without regard to the definition method. In general, increasing trends are found in the TN time series without regard to the analysis method, but the trends are clearly depending on the analysis period and geographic locations. Decreasing trends are prominent during the most of analysis period, especially until the mid of 1990, whereas strong increasing trends are found during recent 30 years (1988-2007), especially at Jeju, Ulsan, Daegu and Pohang. Also the severity of TN is significantly increased in recent years.
BACKGROUND : Hwabyung is a culturally-related syndrome of Korea diagnostically confounded with somatization, depressive and generalized anxiety disorders, representing typical clinical manifestations of wide range in their severity. METHODS : This clinical study was carried out on 200 inward stroke patients who had stable vital signs and had stayed at least for 10 days after admission. The patients were devided into two groups, hwabyung and non hwabyung group after an interview with an oriental neuropychiatrist. Than we compared the two groups with general characteristics, past history, stroke type, clinical manifestations and serum lipid levels. Also we investigated recent stressors in hwabyung group. RESULTS : The results showed that the incidence of hwabyung was about 28.5% in stroke patients. The greater number of subjects with hwabyung were women in lower educational level. Aphagia were observed more frequently in hwabyung group and verbal disturbance in non-hwabyung group. The most recent stressor of male in hwabyung group was finantial difficulties due to dishonor, unemployment, cheated and so on. As to female, the conflicts with husband or his family were the most recent stressor. As a whole, finantial difficulties were highly ranked as a recent stress in hwabyung group.
The purpose of this article is to explore recent developments in piracy attacks at the global level. This article provides an overview of global trend of recent piracy attacks and presents global counter-piracy efforts at the international and governmental as well as industry level. The issue of piracy has been a grave concern of the globe, becoming the biggest threat to the safety and security navigation and seaborne trade. Overall, piracy attacks in recent years have greatly diminished owing to multi-faceted counter-piracy efforts. However, Southeast Asia and West Africa have reemerged as an hotspot of piracy. A worrisome trend in these regions is that many of piracy attacks are committed by militant groups for financing their activities. As a result, the level of violence and the sophistication of attacks have escalated. The problem of contemporary piracy is beyond a particular region or coastal state, but a common concern of the international community. In order to address the global piracy problem, international cooperation should be further strengthened at the global level as well as the regional level. As a way of counter-piracy measures in Southeast Asian waters, the creation of a joint regional coast guard to patrol the highly piracy concentration areas needs to be considered.
