In this paper, we propose a new synthetic aperture focusing scheme for improving the lateral resolution which is one of the most important factors determining the quality of ultrasound imaging. The proposed scheme enables full round-trip dynamic focusing with approximately limited property. This properties are obtained through transmitting plane waves of which the traveling angle varies with the receive subaperture position, as opposed to stepping the spherical wave source across an array in other synthetic aperture focusing schemes, and employing dynamic focusing in receive. In this paper, the properties of the proposed scheme is analyzed in which a hypothetical infinite line source is used to transmit the plane waves and verified through computer simulation results. Also, we show that the proposed scheme is realizable with an array transducer with a finite aperture size. In summary, it is shown through comparison between the field contours of the proposed scheme and the conventional scheme that the proposed scheme can improve greatly the lateral resolution of ultrasound imaging.
The elliptic filters are optimal in the sense that the magnitude characteristic exhibits the steepest slope at the cutoff frequency. The other characteristics such as delay and step response, however, are rather undesirable. In this paper, the modified elliptic low-pass filter function is proposed. The modified elliptic function possesses progressively diminishing ripples in both passband and stopband, and the lower pole-Q, values when compared to the elliptic counterparts, thus producting the flatter delay characteristics and improved time-domain performances. And it is realizable in the doubley-terminated ladder structures for the order n even or odd, thus lending themselves amaenable to high-quality active RC or switched capacitor filters through the simulation techniques.
This paper assesses the two-equation turbulence models available in a commercial code, FLUENT, for heat transfer in a turbulent heated pipe flow. In case of flow under $Re_D=10,000$, Standard $\kappa-\epsilon$ and Realizable $\kappa-\epsilon$ models overpredict the Nusselt number about $20\%$ compared with the experimental correlation, and RNG $\kappa-\epsilon$ model overpredicts about $30\%$ when the two-layer zonal method is employed. When wall function method is adopted, all $\kappa-\epsilon$ models show better predictions. Standard $\kappa-\omega$ and SST $\kappa-\omega$ models have the dependency on the first grid point ($0.3). As Reynolds number becomes high, the predictions of all $\kappa-\epsilon$ and $\kappa-\omega$ models are in a good agreement with the experimental correlation.

Numerical simulations of turbulent flows around KCS have been performed to study the sensitivity of ship resistance to wall-adjacent grids and disclose the influence of near-wall treatment on the sensitivity of ship resistance. The resistance coefficients of viscous and pressure forces were compared when using realizable $k-{\varepsilon}$ and SST $k-{\omega}$ turbulence models in structured and unstructured grids, respectively. The calculation of friction velocity was found to be mainly responsible for the reduction of viscous and total resistances when the height of wall-adjacent cells increased. Since the assumption of equilibrium state between turbulent production and dissipation was not met in a bulbous bow, it was more reasonable to iteratively calculate the friction velocity from empirical laws of the wall for near-wall treatment rather than explicitly estimate it from the turbulent kinetic energy.
In this paper we studied for multi-user detection system, which hold the merit of CDMA system and can enhance the system capacity. We designed actually realizable quasi-optimal multiuser detection system by use of linear equalizer on the concept that multiuser detection algorithm can be reduced by combining TDMA with CDMA. we call this the hybrid TDMA/CDMA system. And we proposed multiuser detection system, which can use PSAD and MSDD channel estimation method. As a result of performance analysis we acquired equal or much better performance by use of linear multichannel equalizer in the case of not so many user. And on the occasion of many user within cell we can also acquired much better performance in comparison with conventional single user detection system by use of hybrid TDMA/CDMA system.
We consider channel-coded multi-input multi-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission and obtain a condition on its signal for it to attain the maximum diversity and coding gain. As this condition may not be realizable, we propose a suboptimal design that employs an orthogonal transform and a space-frequency interleaver between the channel coder and the multi-antenna OFDM transmitter. We propose a corresponding receiving method based on block turbo equalization. Attention is paid to some detailed design of the transmitter and the receiver to curtail the computational complexity and yet deliver good performance. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed transmission technique can outperform the conventional coded MIMO OFDM and the MIMO block single-carrier transmission with cyclic prefixing.
The objective of this study is to predict the drag of an axisymmetric underwater vehicle with bluff afterbody using CFD. FLUENT, commercial CFD code, is used to simulate high Reynolds number turbulent flows around the vehicle. The computed drag coefficients are compared to available experimental data at various Reynolds numbers. Four widely used two-equation turbulence models are investigated to evaluate their performance of predicting the anisotropic turbulence in a recirculating flow region, which is caused by flow separation arising from the base of the vehicle. The simulations with Realizable ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ and ${\kappa}-{\omega}$ SST turbulence models predict the anisotropic turbulent flows comparatively well and the drag prediction results with those models show good agreements with the experimental data.
Recently, the size and complexity of the system we have to develop and to deal with are expanding quickly. Because of the great size of causally related network in itself, such a system will be very difficult to deal with based on the typical reduction model. One of alternatives for this is to adopt emergence-based paradigm instead of reduction-based paradigm. The first is based on the low level causality and the latter on the high level emergence. In this paper we proposed an emergence-based object model realizable in terms of engineering. It is the abstracted one from original object model using of such concepts as performance function, interest function and emotional layer. The suggested model allows us to emerge some important concepts which might be useful for implementing the complex system which can hardly be available by reduction paradigm.
The phase angle which is mainly depend on time constant $\tau$ of the calculable 10 A and 0.1 ${\Omega}ac/dc$ resistor has been analysed. The low values of resistors are usually inductive and time constant $\tau$ very large compare to high values of resistors. The numerical analysis has been shown that the time constant $\tau$ becomes zero when introduce the compensation capacitance geometrically to the resistive coil with proper dimension. As a result a very low phase angle can be achieved within the realizable dimensions.
Narrowband signals can be treated like a single tone interference at the receiver which demodulates wideband signals spectrum overlaid at the same frequency band. In this paper, the single tone interference is effectively suppressed by the use of a multicarrier DPSK direct-sequence(DS) spread spectrum(SS) with maximal-ratio(MR) combining instead of notch filter, which is hard to implement. A noncoherent DPSK system is considered because it is more realizable and does not require any complicate phase tracking, compared with a single carrier system subject to a constraint system bandwidth, and their performance comparisons are validated through simulation. We also propose a suboptimal-ratio(SR) combining which yields uniform and tight low bound on the performance of the MR combining, and then system parameters re optimized by theoretically evaluating the low bound, since an exact analysis appears intractable.
