  • The object-oriented(00) distributed real-time(RT) programming movement started in1990's and is growing rapidly at this turn of the century. Distributed real-time simulation is a field in its infancy but it is bounded to receive steadily growing recognition for its importance and wide applicability. The scheme is called the distributed time-triggered simulation scheme which is conceptually simple and easy to use but widely applicable. A new generation object oriented(00) RT programming scheme is called the time-triggered message triggered object(TMO)programming scheme and it is used to make specific illustrations of the issues. The TMO structuring scheme is a general-style components structuring scheme and supports design of all types of component including hard real time objects and non real time objects within one general structure.

  • Technological advances in media have expanded users' consciousness. At the same time, users have changed from passive into active voice by interacting media. The emergence of mobile made different structures and contents compared to the past. Especially, Korean culture of mobile converted original media channels to contents in a category. Plus, the usage structure of internet of this time converges in massive portal sites. It is because that the structure has aspect of emitting through remediation in the sites. Also, Korean massive portal sites have provided specific service named 'real-time issues'. This is not only the unique way of offering information that exists in Korea but also high usability of getting issues. We therefore considered the meaning of durability of real-time issues in the view of journalism, compared original media channels. Then, this paper identified the user attributes for acquisition of information following ways using informal and formal data from Korean massive portal sites named 'Daum' and 'Naver'.

  • In this paper, we discuss real-time control of networked control systems (NCSs) and practical issues in the choice of the communication networks for this purpose. An appropriate integration of control systems, real-time environments, and network communication systems allows the optimization of the quality-of-control (QoC) in NCSs. We compare several prevailing network types that may be used in control applications to offer a guideline of choosing a proper network. A real-time operating environment is also presented as an important ingredient of NCS design. To evaluate its feasibility and effectiveness, a real-time NCS containing a ball magnetic levitation (Maglev) setup is implemented via an Ethernet. Based on the experimental results, it is concluded in this paper that real-time control via Ethernet is a practical and feasible solution to NCS design.

  • The Constructive Battle simulation Model is very important to the recent military training for the substitution of the field training. However, real battlefield systems operate under rea-time conditions, they are inherently distributed, concurrent and dynamic. In order to reflect these properties by the computer-based simulation systems which represent real world processes, we have been developing constructive simulation model for several years. The constructive simulation system is one of the famous real-time system software, nd the one common feature of all real-time systems is defined as the correctness of the system depend not only on the logical result of computation, but also on the time at which the results are produced. Conventionally, scheduling and resource allocation activities which have timing constraints are major problem of real-time computing systems. To overcome these constraints, we elaborated on these issues and developed the simulation system on commercially available hardware and operating system with lock-free resource allocation scheme and rae monotonic scheduling.

  • In this article, we present a performance enhancement scheme for mobile applications by adopting persistent memory. The proposed scheme supports the deadline guarantee of real-time applications like a video player, and also provides reasonable performances for non-real-time applications. To do so, we analyze the program execution path of mobile software platforms and find two sources of unpredictable time delays that make the deadline-guarantee of real-time applications difficult. The first is the irregular activation of garbage collection in flash storage and the second is the blocking and time-slice based scheduling used in mobile platforms. We resolve these two issues by adopting high performance persistent memory as the storage of real-time applications. By maintaining real-time applications and their data in persistent memory, I/O latency can become predictable because persistent memory does not need garbage collection. Also, we present a new scheduler that exclusively allocates a processor core to a real-time application. Although processor cycles can be wasted while a real-time application performs I/O, we depict that the processor utilization is not degraded significantly due to the acceleration of I/O by adopting persistent memory. Simulation experiments show that the proposed scheme improves the deadline misses of real-time applications by 90% in comparison with the legacy I/O scheme used in mobile systems.

  • The real time scheduling is a key research area in high performance computing and has been a source of challenging problems. A periodic task is an infinite sequence of task instance where each job of a task comes in a regular period. The RMS (Rate Monotonic Scheduling) algorithm has the advantage of a strong theoretical foundation and holds out the promise of reducing the need for exhaustive testing of the scheduling. Many real-time systems built in the past based their scheduling on the Cyclic Executive Model because it produces predictable schedules which facilitate exhaustive testing. In this work we propose hybrid scheduling method which combines features of both of these scheduling algorithms. The original rate monotonic scheduling algorithm didn't consider the uniform sampling tasks in the real time systems. We have enumerated some issues when the RMS is applied to our hybrid scheduling method. We found the scheduling bound for the hard real-time systems which include the uniform sampling tasks. The suggested hybrid scheduling algorithm turns out to have some advantages from the point of view of the real time system designer, and is particularly useful in the context of large critical systems. Our algorithm can be useful for real time system designer who must guarantee the hard real time tasks.

  • There are many different researches about how to analyze issues based on real-time news streams. But, there are few researches which analyze issues hierarchically from news articles and even a previous research of hierarchical issue analysis make clustering speed slower as the increment of news articles. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical and incremental clustering for semi real-time issue analysis on news articles. We trained siamese neural network based weighted cosine similarity model, applied this model to k-means algorithm which is used to make word clusters and converted news articles to document vectors by using these word clusters. Finally, we initialized an issue cluster tree from document vectors, updated this tree whenever news articles happen, and analyzed issues in semi real-time. Through the experiment and evaluation, we showed that up to about 0.26 performance has been improved in terms of NMI. Also, in terms of speed of incremental clustering, we also showed about 10 times faster than before.
