Implementation of Real-Time Data Logging System for Radar Algorithm Analysis (레이다 알고리즘 분석을 위한 실시간 로깅 시스템 구현)

  • In this paper, we developed a hardware and software platform of the real-time data logging system to verify radar FEM (Front-end Module) and signal-processing algorithms. We developed a hardware platform based on FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) and DSP (Digital Signal Processor) and implemented firmware software to verify the various FEMs. Moreover, we designed PC based software platform to control radar logging parameters and save radar data. The developed platform was verified using 24 GHz multiple channel FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) in an environment of stationary and moving targets of chamber room.

Design of a machine learning based mobile application with GPS, mobile sensors, public GIS: real time prediction on personal daily routes

  • Since the global positioning system (GPS) has been included in mobile devices (e.g., for car navigation, in smartphones, and in smart watches), the impact of personal GPS log data on daily life has been unprecedented. For example, such log data have been used to solve public problems, such as mass transit traffic patterns, finding optimum travelers' routes, and determining prospective business zones. However, a real-time analysis technique for GPS log data has been unattainable due to theoretical limitations. We introduced a machine learning model in order to resolve the limitation. In this paper presents a new, three-stage real-time prediction model for a person's daily route activity. In the first stage, a machine learning-based clustering algorithm is adopted for place detection. The training data set was a personal GPS tracking history. In the second stage, prediction of a new person's transient mode is studied. In the third stage, to represent the person's activity on those daily routes, inference rules are applied.

  • As environmental pollution has become severe due to the rapid increase in pollutant generation in the air, measurement, collection, and analysis of atmospheric environment information plays an important role. However, it is difficult to measure the high-resolution and real-time atmospheric environment of the cities and tourist spots with high population mobility only by measuring equipment of stationary measuring stations. Therefore, this paper proposes a portable atmospheric environment measurement system for real-time measurement and monitoring of atmospheric environment information. The proposed system is a portable client with a low-power wireless communication method. It is possible to reliably transmit and receive the measured data through a multi-threaded server to monitor the trend of pollutants in the air in real-time.

LiDAR based Real-time Ground Segmentation Algorithm for Autonomous Driving (자율주행을 위한 라이다 기반의 실시간 그라운드 세그멘테이션 알고리즘)

  • This paper presents an Ground Segmentation algorithm to eliminate unnecessary Lidar Point Cloud Data (PCD) in an autonomous driving system. We consider Random Sample Consensus (Ransac) Algorithm to process lidar ground data. Ransac designates inlier and outlier to erase ground point cloud and classified PCD into two parts. Test results show removal of PCD from ground area by distinguishing inlier and outlier. The paper validates ground rejection algorithm in real time calculating the number of objects recognized by ground data compared to lidar raw data and ground segmented data based on the z-axis. Ground Segmentation is simulated by Robot Operating System (ROS) and an analysis of autonomous driving data is constructed by Matlab. The proposed algorithm can enhance performance of autonomous driving as misrecognizing circumstances are reduced.

  • A lot of studies to measure and analyze the system performance have been done in areas such as system modeling, performance measurement, monitoring, and performance prediction since the advent of a computer system. Studies on a framework to unify the performance related areas have rarely been performed although many studies in the various areas have been done, however. In the case of TMO(Time-Triggered Message-Triggered Object), a real-time programming model, it hardly provides tools and frameworks on the performance except a simple run-time monitor. So it is difficult to analyze the performance of the real-time system and the process based on TMO. Thus, in this paper, we propose a framework for the dynamic analysis of the real-time system based on TMO, TDAF(TMO based Dynamic Analysis Framework). TDAF treats all the processes for the performance measurement and analysis, and Provides developers with more reliable information systematically combining a load model, a performance model, and a reporting model. To support this framework, we propose a load model which is extended by applying TMO model to the conventional one, and we provide the load calculation algorithm to compute the load of TMO objects. Additionally, based on TMO model, we propose performance algorithms which implement the conceptual performance metrics, and we present the reporting model and algorithms which can derive the period and deadline for the real-time processes based on the load and performance value. In last, we perform some experiments to validate the reliability of the load calculation algorithm, and provide the experimental result.

  • In this paper, we consider the algorithms and numerical analysis for real-time integrated control system and resource management of large-scale manufacturing smart factory system. There various data transmitted on Cyber-Physical-System (CPS) is necessary to control in real time, as well as the terminal and the platform with respective system service. This will be a true smart manufacturing which consisting of existing research results, and a numerical analysis by the parameter-specific information. In this paper, Jacoby calculation to reflect the optimization algorithms that are newly proposed. It also presents a behavior that optimal operational algorithm on CPS which is adapted to the sensing data. In addition, we also verify the excellence of the real-time integrated control system through experimentation, by comparison with the existing research results.

  • Recently, Usage of multimedia server is rapidly increased with expansion of internet that real-time displaying service for multimedia data, MPEG and etc. For these multimedia real-time applications, it is necessary to use a disk array as a storage system. For providing requested service to much more clients at the same time in a multimedia data storage server, considerable varied strategies in a several parts. But especially it is important feature to various parameters for disk array such as relation of striping block size as a system environment and characteristics of video data. In this paper, we implemented real environment of multimedia server which provides MPEG-1 files and evaluated the suitable storage system architectures by applying synthetically generated workloads in the various parameters for disk array.

  • Recent developments in information and communication technology has enabled the deployment of sensor based data to provide real-time services. In Korea, The Korea Transportation Safety Authority is collecting driving information of all commercial vehicles through a fitted digital tachograph (DTG). This information gathered using DTG can be utilized in various ways in the field of transportation. Notably in autonomous driving, the real-time analysis of this information can be used to prevent or respond to dangerous driving behavior. However, there is a limit to processing a large amount of data at a level suitable for real-time services using a traditional database system. In particular, due to a such technical problem, the processing of large quantity of traffic big data for real-time commercial vehicle operation information analysis has never been attempted in Korea. In order to solve this problem, this study optimized the new database server system and confirmed that a real-time service is possible. It is expected that the constructed database system will be used to secure base data needed to establish digital twin and autonomous driving environments.

  • Millimeter wave (MMW) readily penetrates fabrics, thus it can be used to detect objects concealed under clothing. A passive MMW imaging system can operate as a stand-off type sensor that scans people in both indoors and outdoors. However, because of the diffraction limit and low signal level, the imaging system often suffers from low image quality. Therefore, suitable statistical analysis and computational processing would be required for automatic analysis of the images. In this paper, a real-time concealed object detection is addressed by means of the multi-level segmentation. The histogram of the image is modeled with a Gaussian mixture distribution, and hidden object areas are segmented by a multi-level scheme involving $k$-means, the expectation-maximization algorithm, and a decision rule. The complete algorithm has been implemented in C++ environments on a standard computer for a real-time process. Experimental and simulation results confirm that the implemented system can achieve the real-time detection of concealed objects.

  • A vehicle driving simulator is a virtual reality device which makes a human being feel as if the one drives a vehicle actually. The driving simulator is effectively used for studying interaction of a driver-vehicle and developing the vehicle system of new concepts. The driving simulator consists of a motion platform, a motion controller, a visual and audio system, a vehicle dynamic analysis system, a vehicle operation system and etc. The vehicle dynamic analysis system supervises overall operation of the simulator and also simulates dynamic motion of a multi-body vehicle model in real-time. In this paper, the main procedures to develop the driving simulator are classified by 4 parts.
