Recently, small radar require the development of small millimeter wave radar with high distance resolution to disable the target's system with a single strike. Small millimeter wave radar with high distance resolution need to process large amounts of data in real time to acquire and track target. In this paper, we summarized the real-time data preprocessing method to process the large amount of data required for small millimeter wave radar. In addition, the digital IF(Intermediate Frequency) receiver, Window processing, and, DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) functions presented by real-time data preprocessing are implemented using FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array). Finally the implemented real-time data preprocessing module was applied to the signal processor for small millimeter wave radar and verified by performance test related to the real-time preprocessing function.

Automatic semiconductor manufacturing systems are demanded to improve the efficiency of the semiconductor production process. These systems include the functionalities such as the analysis and management schemes for very large real-time data in order to enhance the productivities. So, it requires the efficient storage management system to store very large real-time data. Traditional database management systems(e.g. Oracle, MY-SQL, MS-SQL) are based on disk. However, previous DBMS's have the limitation on the low storing performance. In this paper, we propose a compress-merge storing method of very large real-time data using insert transaction of a block unit. The proposed method shows better processing performances compare to conventional DBMS's. Also compress-merge method makes it possible that it can store large real-time data on low storage cost. Therefore, the proposed method can be applied to an efficient storage management system in the semiconductor production process.
Since the recent launch of Microsoft Xbox Kinect, research on 3D human pose estimation has attracted a lot of attention in the computer vision community. Kinect shows impressive estimation accuracy and real-time performance on massive graphics processing unit hardware. In this paper, we focus on further reducing the computation complexity of the existing state-of-the-art method to make the real-time 3D human pose estimation functionality applicable to devices with lower computing power. As a result, we propose two simple approaches to speed up the random-forest-based human pose estimation method. In the original algorithm, the random forest classifier is applied to all pixels of the segmented human depth image. We first use a multi-scale approach to reduce the number of such calculations. Second, the complexity of the random forest classification itself is decreased by the proposed cascade approach. Experiment results for real data show that our method is effective and works in real time (30 fps) without any parallelization efforts.

Stand-alone global position system receiver based on C/A code tracking generates position error of 100m mainly due to the selective availability and ionospheric and tropospheric delay errors. The differential GPS is the most commonly used method for removing those bias range error components. The relative GPS, although somewhat restrictive in its use, is ideally suited to the car monitoring system for improved Automatic Vehicle location, especially where the DGPS infrastructure is not available. The RGPS does not require any additional hardware, facility or external infrastructure and can be operated within the system with existing host computer and communication link. This paper presents detailed description of the RGPS concept and its implementation for real-time data processing. Performance of RGPS is evaluated with real data and is compared with DGPS.
Nowadays most vehicles are equipped with a variety of electronic devices to improve user convenience as well as its performance itself. In order to efficiently interconnect these devices with each other, Controller Area Network (CAN) is commonly used. However, the CAN requires reconfiguration of the entire network when a new device, which is capable of supporting both of transmission and reception of data, is added to the existing network. In addition, since CAN is based on the collision avoidance using address priority, it is difficult that a new node is assigned high priority and eventually it results in transmission delay of the entire network. Therefore, in this paper we propose a new system component, called CAN coordinator, and design a new CAN framework capable of supporting plug and play functionality. Through experiments, we also prove that the proposed framework can improve real-time ability based on plug and play functionality.

We developed a real-time CCD photometric program for IBM PC compatibles. This program can perform several functions necessary for CCD photometry such as telescope control. filter rotation, CCD camera control and data acquisition, two-dimensional image processing, simple aperture photometry and automatic differential photometry. The image processing of a spiral galaxy M51 observed with the SNU 61cm reflector shows a well developed spiral structure. Simple aperture photometric results of 14 stars in open cluster NGC 6871 almost accorded with those from IRAF/APPHOT. And we could confirm the light variation of eclipsing binary EM Cep by simultaneous automatic differential photometry of 7stars in NGC 7160. Due to the excellence in the precision and efficiency of automatic differential photometry using CCD. this program is very useful for the study of small amplitude ${\delta}$ Sct type variables and of the photometric stability of B ${\sim}$ F type stars.

Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) is an effective algorithm in object recognition, panorama stitching, and image matching, however, due to its complexity, real time processing is difficult to achieve with software approaches. This paper proposes using a reconfigurable hardware processor with integer half kernel. The integer half kernel Gaussian reduces the Gaussian pyramid complexity in about half [] and the reconfigurable processor carries out a parallel implementation of a full search Fast SIFT algorithm. We use a low memory, fine grain single instruction stream multiple data stream (SIMD) pixel processor that is currently being developed. This implementation fully exposes the available parallelism of the SIFT algorithm process and exploits the processing and I/O capabilities of the processor which results in a system that can perform real time image and video compression. We apply this novel implementation to images and measure the effectiveness. Experimental simulation results indicate that the proposed implementation is capable of real time applications.

In this paper, a Mobile Continuous Query Processing System (MCQPS) is designed to solve problems related to database hoarding, maintenance of shared data consistency, and optimization of logging. These problems are caused by weak connectivity and disconnection of wireless networks inherent in mobile database systems under mobile client-server environments. We show the superiority of the proposed MCQPS by comparing its performance to the Client-Intercept-Server (C-I-S) model. In addition, several experimental results show the effectiveness of our proposed indexing structure and methodology for real-time continuous queries.
Recently in-memory data stream processing has been actively applied to various subjects such as query processing, OLAP, data mining, i.e., frequent item sets, association rules, clustering. However, finding regular periodic patterns of events in an infinite data stream gets less attention. Most researches about finding periods use autocorrelation functions to find certain changes in periodic patterns, not period itself. And they usually find periodic patterns in time-series databases, not in data streams. Literally a period means the length or era of time that some phenomenon recur in a certain time interval. However in real applications a data set indeed evolves with tiny differences as time elapses. This kind of a period is called as a pseudo-period. This paper proposes a new scheme called FPMH (Finding Periods using Multiple Hash functions) algorithm to find such a set of pseudo-periods over a data stream based on multiple hash functions. According to the type of pseudo period, this paper categorizes FPMH into three, FPMH-E, FPMH-PC, FPMH-PP. To maximize the performance of the algorithm in the data stream environment and to keep most recent periodic patterns in memory, we applied decay mechanism to FPMH algorithms. FPMH algorithm minimizes the usage of memory as well as processing time with acceptable accuracy.

In this paper, we developed a hardware and software platform of the real-time data logging system to verify radar FEM (Front-end Module) and signal-processing algorithms. We developed a hardware platform based on FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) and DSP (Digital Signal Processor) and implemented firmware software to verify the various FEMs. Moreover, we designed PC based software platform to control radar logging parameters and save radar data. The developed platform was verified using 24 GHz multiple channel FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) in an environment of stationary and moving targets of chamber room.
