  • Due to the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) modernization, recently launched GNSS satellites transmit signals at various frequency bands such as L1, L2 and L5. Considering the Korean Positioning System (KPS) signal and other GNSS augmentation signals in the future, there is a high probability of applying more complex communication techniques to the new GNSS signals. For the reason, GNSS receivers based on flexible Software Defined Radio (SDR) concept needs to be developed to evaluate various experimental communication techniques by accessing each signal processing module in detail. This paper proposes a novel SDR-based A-GNSS receiver capable of processing multi-GNSS/RNSS signals at multi-frequency bands. Due to the modular structure, the proposed receiver has high flexibility and expandability. For real-time implementation, A-GNSS server software is designed to provide immediate delivery of satellite ephemeris data on demand. Due to the sampling bandwidth limitation of RF front-ends, multiple SDRs are considered to process the multi-GNSS/RNSS multi-frequency signals simultaneously. To avoid the overflow problem of sampled RF data, an efficient memory buffer management strategy was considered. To collect and process the multi-GNSS/RNSS multi-frequency signals in real-time, the proposed SDR A-GNSS receiver utilizes multiple threads implemented on a CPU and multiple NVIDIA CUDA GPGPUs for parallel processing. To evaluate the performance of the proposed SDR A-GNSS receiver, several experiments were performed with field collected data. By the experiments, it was shown that A-GNSS requirements can be satisfied sufficiently utilizing only milliseconds samples. The continuous signal tracking performance was also confirmed with the hundreds of milliseconds data for multi-GNSS/RNSS multi-frequency signals and with the ten-seconds data for multi-GNSS/RNSS single-frequency signals.

  • A women's meaning about labor and delivery may influence the process of childbirth and performance of the maternal role. Therefore, negative meaning about the birth experience may have a negative impact on the childrearing. The purpose of this study is to explore the meaning of labor and delivery for the strategies of nursing intervention in positive childbirth experience. The data were collected through the in-depth interviews of 10 nursing college women on Jeju Island from October 2000 to January 2001. The interviews were conducted by investigator in the class room after school hours. Each interview lasted for about 30 minutes on average. Subjects were interviewed one at a time. The interviews were recorded with the consent of the subject. The data were analyzed by means of Giorgi's phenomenological analysis methods and catagorized according to the similarities of its contents. The investigator read the data repeatedly to identify the themes and the main meanings. Eight main meanings were identified as follows : 1)pain 2) shame and disgust 3)load 4)naturality 5)unreality 6)happiness 7)anxiety 8)maturity. Under these main meanings there were seventeen themes. I. Pain : (a) It's too painful (b) I don't want to deliver II. Shame and Disgust : (a) I am shameful (b) I am hateful III. Load : (a) I don't feel free (b) I have responsibility IV. Naturality : (a) It's in order to obtain a child (b) It's natural for women (c) It's a destiny of women V. Unreality : I don't feel real VI. Happiness : (a) I am glad (b) I am happy (c) It's miraculous VII. Anxiety : (a) I am anxious (b) I am worried VIII. Maturity : (a) I understand parents (b) I feel great. • Handover is one of the most important factors that may degrade the performance of TCP connections and real-time applications in wireless data networks. We proposed a seamless handover with Motion Prediction in IEEE 802.16e-based broadband wireless access networks. By intergrating MAC and network layer handovers efficiently, this scheme minimizes the handover delay and eliminates packet losses during handover Simulations show that this scheme achieves loss-free packet delivery without packet duplication and increases TCP throughput significantly.

  • Although various ophthalmic imaging methods, including fundus photography and optical coherence tomography, have been applied for effective diagnosis of ocular diseases with high spatial resolution, most of them are limited by shallow imaging penetration depth and a narrow field of view. Also, many of those imaging modalities are optimized to provide microscopic anatomical information, while functional or cellular information is lacking. Compared to other ocular imaging modalities, photoacoustic imaging can achieve relatively deep penetration depth and provide more detailed functional and cellular data based on photoacoustic signal generation from endogenous contrast agents such as hemoglobin and melanin. In this paper, array-based ultrasound and photoacoustic imaging was demonstrated to visualize pigmentation in the eye as well as overall ocular structure. Fresh porcine eyes were visualized using a real-time ultrasound micro-imaging system and an imaging probe supporting laser pulse delivery. In addition, limited photoacoustic imaging field of view was improved by an imaging probe tilting method, enabling visualization of most regions of the retina covered in the ultrasound imaging.

  • The vehicle routing problem with simultaneous pick-up and delivery (VRPSPD) is a variant of the vehicle routing problem (VRP) that customers require simultaneously a pick-up and delivery service. The main objective of VRPSPD is to minimize a cost of routes satisfying many constraints. Traditional VRPSPD have been dealt with a static environment. The static environment means that a routing data and plan cannot be changed. For example, it is difficult to change a vehicle's routing plan so that a vehicle serves the pick-up demands of new customers during the delivery service. Therefore, traditional approach is not suitable for dynamic environments. To solve this problem, we propose a novel approach for finding efficient routes using a real-time re-routing heuristics based on the Location Based Service (LBS). Our re-routing heuristics can generate a new route for vehicle that satisfies a new customer's demand considering the current geographic location of a vehicle. Experimental results show that our methodology can reduce the traveling cost of vehicles comparing with other previous methods.

  • Appropriate amount of water supply to paddy fields in proper time is important to achieve efficient agricultural water management. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the irrigation water supply adequacy for paddy fields using water level data in irrigation canals. For the evaluation, the real-time water level data were collected from main canals in the Dongjin irrigation district for 2 years. Using the water level data, delivered irrigation water amounts at the distribution points of each canal were calculated. The water balance model for paddy field was designed considering intermittent irrigation and the irrigation water requirement was estimated. Irrigation water supply adequacy was analyzed from main canals to the irrigation blocks based on the comparison between estimated requirement and delivered irrigation water amounts. From the adequacy analysis, irrigation water supply showed poor management condition in 2012 with low efficiency except the Daepyong canal section, and the adequacy in 2013 was good or fair except the Yongsung canal section. When irrigation water for paddy fields was insufficient, water supply adequacy was affected by irrigation area, but when irrigation water was enough to supply, adequacy was affected by distance from main canal to distribution points. These results of the spatial and temporal dimensions of the irrigation adequacy could be utilized for efficient irrigation water management to improve the temporal uniformity and equity in the water distribution for paddy fields.

  • In the process of vaccine delivery and vaccination, temperature is mostly controlled by an insulated containers containing ice. Moreover, amount of wasted vaccine is significant because the temperature of the vaccine is not properly controlled. A core challenge of vaccination is temperature data monitoring, since it is critical for managing and operating strategical vaccination by health organizations. In this research, a real-time monitoring vaccine carrier system was developed. Temperature, location, and power consumption data of the vaccine carrier were monitored and working performances of the vaccine carrier were tested in both Korea and Tanzania (Arusha and Kilimanjaro regions). For both places, Short Message Service (SMS) communication method was used to send information of the carrier's status. As a result, the monitoring system was able to transmit and receive real-time data of the vaccine carrier status while the vaccine carrier was tested. The vaccine status data can be accessed from any location through the cloud server and web-based user interface.

  • In this paper, we propose a real time QoS(Quality of Service) guaranteed transmission mechanism for MPEG video traffic at the congested node in IP based networks. Recent spread of the Internet has increased the demands of a real time multimedia service of the quality, Because the type of Internet services can, however, offer the best effort delivery strategies, it is difficult to treat all the types of traffic with differential COS (Class of Service). Most of all, the hierarchical coding method of MPEG data utilizes the reference frame for the motion prediction. The loss of the reference frames makes QoS of the video traffic degraded because the reference frame bit error causes the consecutive packet loss. Therefore we have studied the real time QoS guaranteed mechanism for video traffic by analyzing the previous methods. Computer simulation results show that the proposed scheme has better performance than the previous one.
