  • The performance assessment in real sea is very important to increase the reliability of the fishing gear automatically identification monitoring system. The concept of real sea experiment for fishing gear automatically identification monitoring system is introduced and results of communication performance of RoLa and LTE Cat.M1 modules are reported through this research.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the problems of land and sea breeze model experiment that has presented in $5^{th}$ grade curriculum in chapter "Weather and our lives" and makes better model simulation so that learners can have better and more effective way to study it. To survey the opinions from dedicated teachers about land and sea breeze model experiment, we produced the survey through interview with science exclusive teacher from M elementary school. An elementary science education expert, 3 men of science EdD modified and complemented survey and started Delphi survey to 12 science teachers who have career teaching more than 3 years. The problems found in this survey were 'one heat bulb, short heating time, small temperature difference of water and sand, lack of class time, empty space between sand and water, back of transparent boxes, little amount of scent and the location of the it' etc. But the most of all, it is hard to see the successful result of the experiment. Based on these kinds of investigations, and lots of trial and error, redesigned the new model experiment that has the most similarity to the real one and high probability of success. According to this, it was able to see the smoke forms horizontal movement along the sand and the smoke goes in one circulation cycle. through this experiment, we made a conclusion that although those scientific experiments in textbook were developed through lots of considerations of expert, to consider the aspect of consumer, it needs to reach the educational agreement about simulation experiment so that It can lead to successful experiment and high quality education.

  • It is important to investigate the hull response of a fishing vessel in waves to ensure the safety of it and to keep excellent sea-keeping qualities. For this purpose we measured the response of fishing vessels in waves using real sea experimental measuring system, We analyze the experimental data by statistical method and spectral analysis to get the characteristics of the response of vessels which have different tonnage. In this real sea experiment we use three stern trawlers which are the training ship in university. We know that the distribution of experimental response have Gauss distribution and Rayleigh distribution and smaller vessels have larger response.

The Prediction of Remaining Service Life of Land Concrete Due to Steel Corrosion (철근부식에 의한 육지 콘크리트의 잔존수명 예측)

  • This paper presents the prediction of remaining service life of the concrete due to steel corrosion caused by the following three cases; carbonation, using sea sand and using deicing salts. The assessment of initiation period was generalized considering the existing perdiction models in the literature, corrosion experiment and field assessment. To evaluate the prediction equation of rust growth, the corrosion accelerating experiments was performed. The polarization resistance was measured by potentiostat and the conversion coefficient of polarzation resistance to corrosion rate was determined by the measurement of real mass loss. Chloride content, carbonation, cover depth, relative humidity, water-cement ratio(W/C), and the use of deicing salts were taken into account and the resulting prediction equation of rust growth was proposed on the basis of these properties. The proposed equation is to predict the rust growth during any specified period of time and be effective in particular for predicting service life of concrete in the case of using sea sand.

  • A model experiment, simulation test using personal computer and real sea trial fishing were carried out to investigate the basic efficiency of bottom trawl net which can be used in the sea mount of North West Pacific, and experimental values were analyzed as the values of full-scale bottom trawl net. Hydrodynamic resistance for the full-scale trawl net according to the Koyama equation was 2.1 times higher than that of simulation and 2.4 times higher than that of model experiment at the average towing velocity. At the 3.5kt's of towing speed, net width of the full-scale trawl net was 2.5% smaller than that of simulation and 8.2% larger than that of model experiment. On the fishing experiment of the full-scale trawl net for the 3.5kt's of average towing speed, average net height of A group(same direction with external force) was 423.5% higher than that of model experiment and 457.1% higher than that of simulation and that of B group(opposite direction with external force) were 283.8% and 306.3% higher than in case of model experiment and Simulation respectively. Net mouth of the full-scale trawl net was 338.1-504.6% higher than those of model experiment and simulation in A group, and 525.2-745.3% higher in B group.

  • The fuel charge is getting higher in navigation cost. Therefore, shipowners try to find the method for reducing oil consumption. ESS(Energy Saving System) is one of he method. ESS is the system consisted with two inverters, ESS control unit and monitoring system. Two inverters control two main sea water cooling pumps. In the ESS control Unit, the control algorithm finds optimized point to decrease a power consumption of main sea water cooling pumps. Monitoring system observes ESS not to work improperly. ESS is experimented in the laboratory with real condition and analyzed in every view. After experiment, the result of the experiment shows that the control algorithm works correctly and safely. ESS has a plan to be operated in the ship soon. In that case, additional devices are needed to connect ESS with cooling system of the vessel. So the development of addition device is needed and being studied.

  • In this paper, we propose ship detection system which is co-operated with AIS by using background estimation based on image processing for on the sea or harbor image extracted from camera. We experiment with on the sea or harbor image extracted from real-time input image from camera. By computer simulation and real world test, the proposed system show more effective to ship monitoring.

A Study on the Panoramic Image Generation in the Sea Environment (해상 환경에서의 파노라믹 영상 생성 기법에 관한 연구)

  • We generally used electric optical sensors in order to detect and identify sea objects efficiently. However due to the limitation of view-angle, the region acquired from the sense is restricted. So it is necessary to generate panoramic image from sea images acquired from pan-tilt camera. Previous mosaicing method is not able to generate panoramic image for sea environment because intensity is similar to all region and time varying. In this paper, we proposed new algorithm for generating high-resolution panoramic image on sea environment. Proposed algorithm use single-view point model, applying mosaicing result in feature environment to in sea environment, we overcame the limitation of previous method. In the result of virtual and real experiment, we showed that proposed algorithm is efficient for generating sea panoramic image.

  • We present an implementation and it's real-sea test of an underwater acoustic communication system, which allows the system to reduce complexity and increase robustness in time variant underwater environments. For easy adaptation to complicated and time-varying environments of the ocean, all-digital transmitter and receiver systems were implemented. For frame synchronization the CAZAC sequence was used, and QPSK modulation/demodulation method with carrier frequency of 25kHz and a bandwidth of 5kHz were applied to generate 10kbps transmission rate including overhead. To improve transmission quality, we used several techniques and algorithms such as adaptive beamforming, adaptive equalizer, and convolution coding/Viterbi decoding. For the verification of the system performance, measurement of BER has been done in a very shallow water with depth of 20m at JangMok, Geoje. During the experiment, image data were successfully transmitted up to about 9.6km.
