A Design and Implementation of the Real-Time VoIP Terminal System Based on Linux (리눅스 기반 실시간 처리 VoIP 단말기 시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper, a VoIP (Voice on Internet Protocol) terminal system, which can process voice in real time based on Linux, is designed and implemented. The hardware of it is designed using a i486 processor and a DSP codec chip which encodes and decodes voice data in real time. As an operating system, RTLinux, which is a real-time operating system based on Linux, is ported to manage real-time voice processing. The voice processing module of the system uses G.723.1 voice codec of ITU-T standard. It transfers voice data within 30ms to assure good voice quality. In order to satisfy the real time requirements and QoS (Quality-of-Service) for the voice data, the real-time voice processing device driver is designed and implemented. To verify the system, the chatting application program is developed and tested for QoS of the system.

  • Distributed computing helps to efficiently store and process large data on a cluster of multiple machines. The performance of distributed computing is greatly influenced depending on the state of the servers constituting the distributed system. In this paper, we propose a self-diagnosis system that collects log data in a distributed system, detects anomalies and visualizes the results in real time. First, we divide the self-diagnosis process into five stages: collecting, delivering, analyzing, storing, and visualizing stages. Next, we design a real-time self-diagnosis system that meets the goals of real-time, scalability, and high availability. The proposed system is based on Apache Flume, Apache Kafka, and Apache Storm, which are representative real-time distributed techniques. In addition, we use simple but effective moving average and 3-sigma based anomaly detection technique to minimize the delay of log data processing during the self-diagnosis process. Through the results of this paper, we can construct a distributed real-time self-diagnosis solution that can diagnose server status in real time in a complicated distributed system.

  • A new dynamic scheduling algorithm is proposed for CAN-based real-time system in this paper. The proposed algorithm is extended from an existing EDS(Earliest Deadline Scheduling) approach having a solution to the priority inversion. Using the proposed algorithm, the available bandwidth of network media can be checked dynamically, and consequently arbitration delay causing the miss of deadline can be avoided. Also, non-real time messages can be processed with their bandwidth allocation. Full network utilization and real-time transmission feasibility can be achieved through the algorithm. To evaluate the performance of algorithm, two simulation tests are performed. The first one is transmission data measurement per minute for periodic messages and the second one is feasibility in the system with both periodic messages and non-real time message.

  • In this thesis, a three degrees of freedom robot, which is able to provide sufficient precision for various robot researches, has been developed. The cable mechanism is used as a basic transmission of robot joints. Based on an optimal design strategy, link and joint parameters are determined and then overall geometry of the robot is designed. As an architecture of robot control, real time control system using real time linux and RtiC-Lab(Real Time Controls Laboratory) is developed. This system, written in C and based on Linux O/S, includes text editor, compiler, downloader, and real time plotter running in host computer for developing control purpose. Using these hardware and software, simple PD position control is implemented, the results shows the effectiveness of the system.

  • One of the basic goals, when considering networks for communication in industrial control applications, is the reduction of complexity of related wiring harnesses. In addition, the networking offers the advantages for industrial control applications, such as ease of cabling, ease of changes in the cabling, ease of adding controller modules, etc. CAN (Controller Area Network) is generally applied in car networking in order to reduce the complexity of the related wiring harnesses. These traditional CAN application techniques are modified to achieve the real time communication for the industrial control applications. In this paper, we propose the method of CAN Identifier assignment for Real-Time network system. This method is can be used to scheduling messages on CAN for Real-Time network system. And also, the real-time network system is developed and the proposed moth(Ids are verified experimentally.

  • Real-time control systems are growing rapidly as infrastructure technologies such as IoT and mobile communication develop and services that value real-time such as factory management and vehicle operation checks increase. Various solutions have been proposed to increase the time sensitivity of this system, but most real-time control systems are currently composed of local servers and multiple clients located in control stations, which are transmitted to local servers where control systems are located. In this paper, we proposed an edge computing-based real-time control model that can reduce the time it takes for the bus information system, one of the real-time control systems, to provide the information to the user at the time it collects the information. Simulating the existing model and the edge computing model, the edge computing model confirmed that the cost for users to receive data is reduced from at least 10% to up to 80% compared to the existing model.

  • The OPRoS (Open Platform for Robotic Service) framework provides uniform operating environment for service robots. As an OPRoS-based service robot has to support real-time as well as non-real-time applications, application of Windows NT kernel based operating system can be restrictive. On the other hand, various benefits such as rich library and device support and abundant developer pool can be enjoyed when service robots are built on Windows NT. The paper presents a user-mode component scheduler of OPRoS, which can provide near real-time scheduling service on Windows NT based on the restricted real-time features of Windows NT kernel. The component scheduler thread with the highest real-time priority in Windows NT system acquires CPU control. And then the component scheduler suspends and resumes each periodic component executors based on its priority and precedence dependency so that the component executors are scheduled in the preemptive manner. We show experiment analysis on the performance limitations of the proposed scheduling technique. The analysis and experimental results show that the proposed scheduler guarantees highly reliable timing down to the resolution of 10ms.

Development of Real-time Screening System for Superior Melon Seeds Using Optical Coherence Tomography (광간섭 단층촬영법을 이용한 우량 참외 종자 실시간 감별 시스템 개발)

  • We developed a real-time screening system using optical coherence tomography (OCT) to distinguish the fruitful melon seeds efficiently. Cross-section images of melon seeds infected with Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) showed an additional layer that did not appear in normal seeds. Additional layer appeared under $100{\sim}300{\mu}m$ from the surface of the seed. OCT can visualize the micro-structural and morphological changes of the internal seed structure. Real-time OCT seed screening system provided the real-time, non-destructive, cross-section image and quantitative information such as A-scan analysis of selected region in the cross-section image. We can distinguish the viral infection seeds while monitoring the averaged A-scan analysis graph in real-time by considering the second peak value of the graph which refers to the layer that occurred owing to the virus. Real-time OCT seed screening system could assist to distinguish the disease caused by CGMMV.

  • Nowadays, as the indices of the major search engines grow to a tremendous proportion, vertical search services can help customers to find what they need. Real time search is valuable because it lets you know what's happening right now on any given topic. In this paper, we designed a new architecture to implement a high performance real time search system. Based on the real time search's characters, we divided the whole system to two parts which are collection system and search system. The evaluation results showed that our design has the potential to provide the real time search transparent scalability while maintaining the replication overhead costs in check.

  • In recent, the innovative improvement of a internet and computing environment make users desire the capability of processing information in real time. In this paper we implement a PC-to-PC real time multi-user communication system on the internet environment using the efficient algorithm for a real time processing and the MFEG-4 CELP codec which can be used for a low bit-rate coding from 6 to 24kbps. The implemented system produces a compressed bit-streams with the MPEG-4 CEU Mode-I 18200bps mode. There is 5 frames for a package and 1 frame has 160 samples. We can use this system to communicate with 4 users simultaneously in real time. The system is designed and examined on the Windows operating system.
