A Buffer Management Algorithm based on the GOP Pattern and the Importance of each Frame to Provide QoS for Streaming Services in WLAN (WLAN에서 스트리밍 서비스이 QoS를 제공하기 위한 GOP 패턴 및 프레임 중요도에 따른 버퍼 관리 기술)

  • IEEE 802.11e standardized the EDCA mechanism to support the priority based QoS. And the virtual collision handler schedules the transmission time of each MAC frame using the internal back-off window according to the access category(AC). This can provides the differentiated QoS to real-time services at the medium traffic load condition. However, the transmission delay of MAC frame for real-time services may be increased as the traffic load of best effort service increases. It becomes more critical when the real-time service uses a compressed mode video codec such as moving picture experts group(MPEG) 4 codec. That is because each frame has the different importance. That is, the I-frame has more information as compared with the P- and the B-frame. In this paper, we proposed a buffer management algorithm based on the frame importance and the delay bound. The proposed algorithm is consisted of the traffic regulator based on the dual token bucket algorithm and the active queue management algorithm. The traffic regulator reduces the transmission rate of lower AC until that the virtual collision handler can transmit an I-frame. And the active queue management discards frame based on the importance of each frame and the delay bound of head of line(HoL) frame when the channel resource is insufficient.

Found Footage Film of Self-Reflexivity (자기반영적 파운드 푸티지 필름)

  • Found Footage Film has been increasingly addressed between film and visual art world in the age of rapid media change. With regards to this self-conscious found footage filmmaking, narrative structures are unraveled to relate new stories, images are removed from their original context only to reappear in a different context, new layers that alter the meaning are added, stereotypes from Hollywood movies are exposed, and new montages are used to destroy the illusion of the medium itself. The physical properties of the original material are also emphasized or altered in order to add a new meaning. The starting point of this study is the recognition of the origin of found footage film. It traces back to the found object from primitive impulse and found art from Dada and surrealism. Many found footage films have been at least partly inspired by Duchamp's ready-mades. These films use footages that the filmmakers did not shot, and even footage that was never intended as art. This essay deals with the found footage practices and interrogates the aesthetic implications by the concept of self-reflexivity. Self-reflexivity means consciousness turning back on itself, and found footage film is about films which call attention to themselves as cinematic constructs. It breaks with art as illusionism and exposes their own factitiousness as textual constructs. Furthermore, the inevitable mortality of celluloid and temporal reconstruction of original film will be treated. Recentely, many attention has been given to role of Found Footage Film. I hope to add the understanding of the artistic found footage film with this study.

Cultivation of Cauliflower Mushroom (Sparassis crispa) by Use of Steam-treated Coniferous Sawdusts (증기 처리한 침엽수 톱밥을 이용한 꽃송이버섯 재배)

  • Cultivation of cauliflower mushroom (Sparassis crispa) became a good way of consumption for coniferous sawdust. However, conventional method for the cultivation demanded ready-decomposed sawdust in field more than 6 months, which resulted in the spatial and temporal problems. This study was conducted to develop an efficient cultivation method to minimize the problem with steam-treated sawdust media of Larix leptolepis, Pinus densiflora and Pinus koraiensis. By the treatment, mycelial growth was stimulated by 10% compared to that of untreated sawdust with the sawdust media of L. leptoiepis and P. koraiensis, and the mushroom productivity was improved from 12.5% (50.1 g/400 g) to 16.7% (66.7 g/400 g) with the sawdust medium of P. densiflora from first harvest in case of KFRI644. Steam treatment is thought to be a good method for cultivation of cauliflower mushroom by minimizing culturing period and increasing productivity, which is an effective way of utilization for coniferous sawdusts.

Evaluation of a Compact Dry Method for Enumerating Bacteria in Contaminated Foods (식품 오염 미생물 분석을 위한 컴팩트 드라이법 평가)

  • The present study aimed to compare the accuracy of the compact dry and culture plate methods for natural flora (yeasts/molds, coliforms, and total bacterial count) and artificial inoculum (Escherichia coli) in dosirak (meat-based), meal kits (seafood-based), and Doenjang (traditional food). Compact dry TC, EC, CF, and YMR were compared with culture plate methods using a suitable medium for each bacterium. The total bacterial count, coliforms, yeasts/molds, and E. coli were assessed with 3M Petrifilm (aerobic bacterial, coliform, yeast/mold, and E. coli count plates) using culture plate methods. Analysis of the recovery rates of target microorganisms in the three food samples showed that the compact dry method for total bacteria, coliforms, and E. coli exhibited recovery capabilities equivalent to those of the culture plate and Petrifilm methods, with no significant differences (P>0.05). Overall, compact dry TC, CF, and EC showed a good correlation between the methods used in this study, indicating rapid and convenient microbial enumeration by saving time and requiring less space.
