  • The aging of society is not only Korea's challenge but also a global issue. This leads to an increase in the number of elderly drivers who are much more prone to major traffic accidents. Therefore, we need a system to test aged drivers' driving abilities. As part of efforts to establish such a system, researchers of KoROAD. have conducted a study on the correlation between aging and driving abilities by analyzing old drivers' reaction time. The study shows that there was a sharp increase in reaction time for drivers aged 65 and over. The current reaction time of 2.5 secs for the 85 percent of eligible drivers needs to be revised upward in aging societies. From now on, we need to come up with the traffic safety measures that can deal with the issue of drivers of old age.

  • Recently, interest in utilization plan of recycling paper have been enhanced. Therefore, this research aimed to develop the manufacture process of cellulose acetate using old newsprint by acetosolv pulping process. And the manufactured cellulose acetate was also analyzed, especially based on chemical properties. The summarized results in this research were as follows; Reaction time, kind and amount of catalyst, and ratio of liquor to material were varied during acetosolv pulping process of old newsprint. Ratio of liquor to material did not give the significant difference in reaction product. Delignification rate was increased with increasing reaction time during acetosolv pulping, but yield and degree of substitution decreased with increasing reaction time. Sulfuric acid are better catalyst than hydrochloric acid in acetosolv pulping process for old newsprint, and optimal addition amount of catalyst was 1% based on reaction material. Delignification, yield, and degree of substitution were influenced by the catalyst and reaction time. Under pulping condition of $120^{\circ}C$ in 1/12 liquor to material ratio and 60min, degree of substitution was about 0.7. The acetylation reaction was not completely caused by these reaction condition. The examination of the FT-IR spectra revealed that absorption band(1200$\textrm{cm}^{-2}$, 1,750$\textrm{cm}^{-1}$) caused by carbonyl group were confirmed.

  • Background : The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between an agility and a concentration, an auditory reaction time and a muscle power. Methods : Twenty one healthy female college students who were 20-21 years participated in the experiment; after being introduced to the methods, they voluntarily signed a consent form. And they received several test related with this study; side step test for an agility, Harris & Harris test for a concentration, brain auditory evoked potential test for an auditory reaction time and vertical jump test for a muscle power. Result : There was no relationship between the agility and the concentration and the auditory reaction time. However, the muscle power related with the agility significantly. Conclusion : In conclusion, these findings suggest that a muscle power training is a good way to promote an agility. So, we can find out that, in an player who requires an agility, a muscle power training is the most important way for promoting an agility than a concentration training or an auditory reaction time training.

  • The effect of the reaction temperature and reaction time on the thermal oxidative purification quality of detonation nanodiamond (NDsoot) was investigated in a gas-solid fluidized bed reactor of a $0.10m-ID{\times}1.0m$-high stainless steel column with zirconia beads ($d_{SV}=99.2{\mu}m$). The carbon conversion increased with increasing the reaction temperature; however, when the reaction temperature was greater than 773 K, the carbon conversion did not increase. The content of $sp^3$-hybridized carbon at the reaction temperature of 703 K barely changed when the reaction time was more than 30 minutes, but at 773 K, the content decreased as preferred. At 703 K, the purification quality increased with the increasing reaction time; however, at 773 K, the purification quality increased up to 30 minutes and then decreased rapidly.

  • Resol type phenol-formaldehyde (PF) resin was synthesized by addition reaction of formaldehyde (F) and phenol (P). And the PF resin was synthesized by condensation reaction in which water was removed. In this work, we studied the influence of experimental parameters in the addition reaction, such as F/P mole ratio, amount of catalyst, reaction temperature, reaction time, and so on. Also, we studied the influence of molecular weight and viscosity of PE resin as a function of condensation time. As a result, in addition reaction, the reaction time decreased remarkably as the catalyst concentration increased, and the time decreased with increasing reaction temperature at a constant catalyst concentration. Also, in condensation reaction, the viscosity of resol type PF resin increased from 1500 to 9000 cps as a function of condensation time; molecular weight showed from 500 to 1100 g/mol.

  • Objectives: I carried out this study for research on dizziness (瞑眩) reaction. Methods: I found 14 papers about dizziness reaction from 1994 to 2009 in China Academic Journal (CAJ) website, and synthesized these reports. Results: Dizziness reaction, presupposing that the diagnosis and treatments are correct, is a peculiar reaction which occurs with severe and various symptoms temporarily diverging from regular course. As dizziness reaction disappears, the symptoms of the disease are improved. Though it mostly occurs rapidly and disappears in a short time, it can occur after a long treatment or occur gradually in chronic diseases. As a general rule, the faster dizziness reaction occurs, the more severe the reaction. The faster dizziness reaction disappears, the quicker the recovery from illness. Upon catching a disease, healthy qi(正氣) and the pathogen (邪氣) fight each other. Just at that moment, if the medicine or acupuncture treatment hits the mark of the pathogen (邪氣), healthy qi(正氣) attacks the origin of the disease in full force. Thus, all symptoms disappear at a time and various reactions occur which we can't accurately determine. So, we can call it 'Right action', 'Improving reaction' or 'Adjusting reaction'. Conclusions: It is difficult for us to predict whether a dizziness reaction will occur. Thus, we don't have to seek dizziness reaction blindly, and must distinguish dizziness reaction from side effects or toxic effects. So, we must pay more close attentions to symptom changes.

  • This study deals with human reaction speed according to human physical conditions (body size) such as head width, thickness, breast width, arm extent, and age. Especially, the results of this study are compared between young and old generation. According to this study, the thickness and extent factor do not have any correlation with human reaction speed, but width factors(head width, breast width, etc) have some correlation with human reaction speed. The result of this study can be used to find fitter person for a special job such as emergency condition job, sports man (because you can find a person having a good talent for it without test). Also, the purpose of this study is to find CNT (Channel Noise Time). The word of CNT is to explain the relation between Channel Noise and working speed. (Channel Noise is a kind of noise happening between the human information transmission channel.)

  • This study deals with the designing of vehicle pedal considering simple reaction time of visual information. Because vehicle accidents may bring about fatal results, the vehicle design which is considered with safity is very important. Though the vehicle design considered with safity is important in the whole parts of vehicle, the designing of pedal which is directly connected the designing of pedal which can minimize reaction time to risk through simple experiments. In the experiments, the experience of driving, the location of brake pedal and the space between brake and accelerator pedal are considered. Using experiment equipment and IBM-PC, simple reaction time was measured. The data which was result from measurement was analyzed with SPSS/PC+. When brake pedal located right side and the space between brake and accelerator pedal was 35cm, reaction was minimized. Based on this results, the vehicle pedal should be designed.
