The adsorption features of copper ion have been investigated by taking the barley residue which occurring from the beer production process as an adsorbent. Under the experimental conditions, adsorption equilibrium of copper ion was attained within 30 minutes after the adsorption started and the adsorption reaction was observed to be first order. As the temperature increased, the adsorbed amount of copper ion at equilibrium was also increased, which indicated that the adsorption reaction was endothermic. Based on the experimental results which obtained by varying the temperatures, several thermodynamic parameters for copper adsorption reaction were estimated. Regarding the electrokinetic behavior of barley residue, its electrokinetic potential was observed to be positive below pH 5 and turned into negative above this pH. In the pH range from 1.5 to 4, copper adsorption was found to be increased, which was well explained by the electrokinetic behavior of barley residue in the pH range. When nitrilotriacetic acid, which is a complexing agent, was coexisted with copper ion, equilibrium adsorption of copper ion was decreased and this was presumed to be due to the formation of metal complex. In addition, the adsorbed amount of copper ion was examined to be increased when $KNO_3$ was coexisted, however, it approached a saturated value above a certain concentration of $KNO_3$.
Ion exchange resin was used to remove silica ion at ultralow concentration. The effects of temperature, type of ion exchange resin and single/mixed-resin systems on removal efficiency were estimated. As temperature increased, the slope of concentration profile became stiff, and the equilibrium concentration was higher. In the single resin system, the removal of silica was continued up to 400 min, but the silica concentration was recovered to initial concentration after 400 min due to the effect of dissolved $CO_2$. In the mixed-resin system it took about 600 min to reach equilibrium. Because of faster cation exchange reaction than anion exchange reaction, the effect of $CO_2$ could be removed. Based on the experimental results carried out in the mixed-resin system, the selectivity coefficients of silica ion for each ion exchange resin were calculated at some specific temperatures. The temperature dependency of the selectivity coefficient was expressed by the equation of Kraus-Raridon type.
This article involves a unified treatment of equilibrium thermodynamics of the chemical reaction coupled with other interfacial (phase boundary) reactions. The modified (restrictive) chemical potential ${\mu}_k^+$, such as electrochemical potential, hydrostatic-chemical (mechanochemical) potential (exceptionally in the presence of the pressure difference) and surface-chemical potential, was first introduced under the isothermal and isobaric conditions. This article then enlightened the equilibrium conditions in case where the release of chemical energy is counterbalanced by the supply of electrical energy, by the supply of hydrostatic work (exceptionally in the presence of ${\Delta}p$), and finally by the release of surface energy, respectively, at constant temperature T and pressure p in terms of the modified chemical potential ${\mu}_k^+$. Finally, this paper focussed on the difference between chemical and electrochemical equilibria based upon the fundamentals of the isothermal and isobaric equilibrium conditions described above.

A stranded ship means a ship which is stuck on a rock or a seabed, and cannot move by itself. The lightening plan is required to refloat the stranded ship. For this, we have to understand the forces and moments acting on the ship, which is composed of the gravity, buoyancy, and reaction force due to the touched area below the ship. This study defines those forces and moments, and proposed the calculation method to find the posture based on the static equilibrium. It is divided by two steps. In the first step, the magnitude and position of the reaction force are obtained based on the known information such as initial trim angle and draft of the ship. In the second step, the reaction force and the posture is calculated due to the three cases such as addition, reduction, and movement of the cargo. It is applied to three examples in order to calculate the reaction force, and the trim angle due to changes of the cargo. As a results, we successfully obtain the magnitudes and positions of forces acting on the stranded ship and to check the posture of the stranded ship.
The aim of this work was to reveal the effect of butanoic acid in its dissociated form and undissociated form as a guest molecule on the kinetic parameters in an inclusion reaction with ${\beta}$-cyclodextrin (${\beta}$-CD). Ultrasonic absorption measurements in the frequency range from 0.2 to 45 MHz were carried out for ${\beta}$-CD solutions with butanoic acid at $25^{\circ}C$ by ultrasonic relaxation method. The rate and the equilibrium constants were obtained from the guest concentration dependence of the relaxation frequency, and the standard volume change of the complexation reaction were obtained from the maximum absorption per wavelength. A single relaxational absorption was observed, and the cause of the relaxation was attributed to a perturbation of the chemical equilibrium associated with a complexation reaction between ${\beta}$-CD and butanoic acid. These results were compared with those in solutions containing both ${\beta}$-CD and different guest molecules. It was found that the hydrophobicity of guest molecules played an important role in the formation of the inclusion complex and also that the charge on the carboxylic group had a considerable effect on the kinetic characteristics of the complexation reaction.
The 123Te(p,n)123I, 124Te(p,n)124I and 124Te(p,2n)123I reactions, among the many reaction channels opened, are the major reactions under consideration from a diagnostic purpose because reaction residuals as the gamma emitters are used for most radiophamaceutical applications involving radioiodine. Based on the available experimental data, the absorption cross sections and elastic scattering angular distributions of the proton-induced nuclear reaction on Te isotopes below 60 MeV are calculated using the optical model code APMNK. The transmission coefficients of neutron, proton, deuteron, trition and alpha particles are calculated by CUNF code and are fed into the GNASH code. By adjusting level density parameters and the pair correction values of some reaction channels, as well as the composite nucleus state density constants of the pre-equilibrium model, the production cross sections and energy-angle correlated spectra of the secondary light particles, as well as production cross sections and energy distributions of heavy recoils and gamma rays are calculated by the statistical plus pre-equilibrium model code GNASH. The calculated results are analysed and compared with the experimental data taken from the EXFOR. The optimized global optical model parameters give overall agreement with the experimental data over both the entire energy range and all tellurium isotopes.
The adsorption features of malachite green onto activated carbon have been investigated for its treatment from aqueous solution. The influential factors were examined the initial concentration of malachite green, reaction temperature, and pH. Under experimental conditions, adsorption equilibrium of malachite green was attained within 2 hr after the adsorption started. The adsorption reaction of malachite green followed the pseudo-second order rate model, and the adsorption rate constants(k2) decreased with increasing initial concentrations of malachite green. Adsorption behavior of malachite green on activated carbon was found to follow the Freundlich model well in the initial adsorbate concentration range. With increase in temperature, the adsorbed amount of malachite green at equilibrium increased, which indicate that the adsorption reaction was endothermic reaction. Thermodynamic parameters for malachite green adsorption reaction were estimated at varying temperatures, and in the pH range of 2-10, adsorption of malachite green increased.
The afterpolymerization and depolymerization of poly-${\varepsilon}$-caproamide in solid state have been studied under two different reaction conditions, nitrogen flow and sealed state. The degree of polymerization ($\bar{P}$) of nylon 6 increased with the increase in reaction time and temperature, and then reacted finally an equilibrium. In the presence of oxygen, $\bar{P}$ decreased by increasing the reaction time due to the oxidation reaction. Under certain reaction condition, the change of $\bar{P}$ for different initial degree of polymerization ($\bar{P}_0$) tendered toward unity in equilibrium.

The reaction between 1-benzyl-3-carbamoyl-1,4-dihydropyridine (BNAH) 1 and various 1-arylpyridinium salts 2, and the reaction between 1-(4-methylphenyl)-1,4-dihydropyridine 4b and 1-aryl-3-carbamoylpyridinium (1-arylnicotinamide) salts 5 were carried out. The extents of reaction in equilibrium were estimated by nmr integration data. The equilibrium constants for the reactions, K, and the standard Gibbs free energy changes for the reduction of the pyridinium salts to the corresponding 1,4-dihydropyridines ${\Delta}G^{\circ}'$ were evaluated. The Hammett plot of log K for the reaction between 1 and 2, and ${\Delta}G^{\circ}'$ against ${\sigma}_p$ of the substituents in 1-aryl moiety shows linear correlation with the reaction constant ${\rho}$ of 9.4 (for log K vs ${\sigma}_p$) and -54.5 KJ/mole (for ${\Delta}G^{\circ}'$ vs ${\sigma}_p$). It was found that 1-aryl-1,4-dihydropyridines have much higher reducing power than the corresponding 1-aryl-1,4-dihydronicotinamides, and the power is affected greatly by the electron-withdrawing ability of the substituents in aryl group. The reactions were utilized for preparation of 1,4-dihydropyridines bearing highly electron-withdrawing groups such as 4-nitrophenyl and 2,4-dinitrophenyl, which could not be obtained by conventional dithionite reduction of the corresponding pyridinium salts due to the base-labile nature of the salts.

Chemical-kinetic parameters of the equilibrium constants to evaluate the reverse rate coefficients in the shock layer of a blunt body and the expanding flows are derived for the temperature range from 300 K to 20,000 K. The expanded equilibrium constants for the chemical reactions of the dissociation, ionization, associative ionization, and neutral and charge exchange reactions of the atmospheric species and carbon materials are proposed in the present work. In evaluating the equilibrium constants, the inter-nuclear potential energies of the molecular species are calculated by the analytical potential function of the Hulburt-Hirschfelder model, and the parameters of the analytical model are determined from the semi-classically calculated RKR potentials. The electronic states and energies of the atoms are calculated by the electronic energy grouping model, and the rovibrational states and energies of each electronic states of the molecules are evaluated by the WKB method. The expanded equilibrium constants for 31 types of the reactions are provided for the best curve-fit functions, and the recombination reaction rate coefficients evaluated from the present equilibrium constants are compared with existing measured values.
