The accuracy of DXA(Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) highly depends on the detection and separation capability of dual energy X-ray X-ray photons. In addition both of scan time and patient exposure are affected by detection efficiency. A CZT detector with a good energy resolution and high detection efficiency was evaluated for the application of bone densitometry. Its performance was compared to a photomultiplier tube with a NaI(T1) scintillator in terms of energy resolution, detection efficiency and the accuracy of bone mineral density measurement. The comparison study was performed with CZT detector and PM tube using DXA equipments(OSTEO Plus, OSTEO Prima, ISOL Technology). The energy spectrum was acquired using MCA(Multi-Channel Analyzer). The used X-ray energy ranged from 20keV to 86keV. The MCA result of the CZT detector showed a slightly sharper energy spectrum than that of NaI(T1). Detection efficiency of the CZT detector at 59.5keV was 1.4 times better. Remarkably the final results of bone mineral density measurements demonstrate only less than 1% difference. The CZT detector appears to have many benefits for the application of bone densitometry. Its excellent energy resolution can enhance the counting accuracy of dual energy X-ray spectrum. Furthermore its compactness in physical dimension and no cooling requirement will be additional benefits for a more compact and accurate bone densitometer.

Ceramic materials are being explored as alternatives to toxic lead sheets for radiation shielding due to their favorable properties like durability, thermal stability, and aesthetic appeal. However, crafting effective ceramics for radiation shielding entails complex processes, raising production costs. To investigate local viability, this study evaluated Malaysian ceramic tiles for shielding in diagnostic X-ray rooms. Different ceramics in terms of density and thickness were selected from local manufacturers. Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence (EDXRF) and X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) characterized ceramic compositions, while Monte Carlo Particle and Heavy Ion Transport code System (MC PHITS) simulations determined Linear Attenuation Coefficient (LAC), Half-value Layer (HVL), Mass Attenuation Coefficient (MAC), and Mean Free Path (MFP) within the 40-150 kV energy range. Comparative analysis between MC PHITS simulations and real setups was conducted. The C3-S9 ceramic sample, known for homogeneous full-color structure, showcased superior shielding attributes, attributed to its high density and iron content. Notably, energy levels considerably impacted radiation penetration. Overall, C3-S9 demonstrated strong shielding performance, underlining Malaysia's potential ceramic tile resources for X-ray room radiation shielding.

Physicochemical properties of rice-based expanded snacks extruded with rice flour, high amylose starch, and isolated soy protein were investigated using a twin-screw extruder. The ingredients were extruded at various feed moisture contents (19~23%) and screw speeds (200~400 rpm) at a constant feed rate (43.4 kg/hr). Bulk density and apparent density of rice snacks were 0.06~0.21, and 0.55~0.65 respectively. Bulk density, apparent density, water absorption index, and breaking strength of rice snacks increased with increasing feed moisture content and decreasing screw speed. However, expansion and water solubility index of rice snacks increased with decreasing feed moisture content and increasing screw speed. Hunter's color L values of rice snacks was lower with increasing screw speed at feed moisture contents of 19% and 21%, but was not significantly different from a feed moisture content of 23%. On the other hand, a and b values of rice snacks were higher with increasing screw speed a feed moisture content of 19%. X-ray diffraction intensity of rice snacks decreased with decreasing feed moisture content and increasing screw speed. X-ray diffraction of rice snacks was V-type at feed moisture contents of 19% and 21% and screw speeds of 300, and 400 rpm. In the microstructure of the cross section of rice snacks, air cells in rice snacks were not well formed, and cell walls were thicker with increasing feed moisture content and decreasing screw speed.
Spatially resolved, quantitative, non-destructive analysis using synchrotron x-ray reflectivity (XR) with subnano-scale resolution was successfully performed on the nanoporous organosilicate thin films for low dielectric applications. The structural information of porous thin films, which were prepared with polymethylsilsesquioxane and thermally labile 4-armed, star-shaped poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) composites, were characterized in terms of the laterally averaged electron density profile along with a film thickness as well as a total thickness. The thermal process used in this work caused to efficiently undergo sacrificial thermal degradation, generating closed nanopores in the film. The resultant nanoporous films became homogeneous, well-defined structure with a thin skin layer and low surface roughness. The average electron density of the calcined film reduced with increase of the initial porogen loading, and finally leaded to corresponding porosity ranged from 0 to 22.8% over the porogen loading range of 0-30 wt%. In addition to XR analysis, the surface and the inner structures of films are investigated and discussed with atomic force and scanning electron microscopy images.
We have presented with the "A study on overexposure rate according to over-density in chest X-ray radiography(I)" last year. In this report, We could calculate the entrance skin dose from chest X-ray film density the formula $I_0=Ix/e^{-{\mu}x}{\times}mG$, (mG is Bucky factor) was used to deliver the skin dose. At that time, There was two problems that the Bucky factor from maker was not equal to field experience and the field size influenced on the Attenuation Rate. The experiment of Bucky factor was done from film method and retried the Attenuation Rate of Acryle phantom according to Good & Poor geometry. As the results, The Bucky factor from maker higher than in this experiments $30{\sim}40%$. The Attenuation Rate in good geometric condition brings about a little alteration compare with poor geometric condition. In the field experiment, we could get the chest image with very low entrance skin radiation dose $29.3{\mu}Sv$, especially with air gap methode, the entrance skin dose was detected $10{\mu}Sv$.

With an attempt to enhance the visibility of laser beam, we have investigated a black matrix with scattering particles by ray tracing simulations. As the scattering particle density is increased, the detected power by the receiver is increased, thereby enhancing the visibility. In reality, the visibility is reduced with increasing incident angle (away from the normal incidence) of laser beam, a phenomenon also observed by ray tracing simulations. It is due to the fact that the mean path is increased within a highly absorptive BM layer or a smaller number of rays hit the BM area when the incident angle is high. Embedding a number of scattering particles into BM may bring in crosstalk among pixels. However, it is negligible because scattered rays inside highly absorptive BM are re-scattered due to the high scattering particle density, decreasing the power of scattered rays into the active areas.

Ricci et al. (2017, Nature, 549, 488) discovered a lack of high accretion rate, obscured Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) in the hard X-ray selected Swift/BAT local AGN survey. This was interpreted as radiative pressure driven AGN feedback clearing its immediate vicinity composed of dusty gas (having an effectively low Eddington limit in the order of 0.01-0.1), and governing the level of nuclear obscuration. As we find Eddington-limited accretion and high extinction values among obscured, luminous AGN (quasars) however, it may be that the local X-ray AGN and the distant quasars undergo different feedback mechanisms in clearing their surroundings. In this study, we simply compare the obscuring column density and Eddington ratio values for quasars selected by various methods, including X-ray obscured, optically blue, infrared red/luminous, and submillimeter bright AGN. We find obscured quasars lying on the column density-Eddington ratio diagram previously unoccupied by Ricci et al., suggesting that radiative pressure is insufficient to clear its dusty structure at high luminosity, or that the dust in obscured quasars are more extended than the low luminosity counterparts to become fully transparent. We discuss alternative feedback scenarios that may be more relevant for obscured quasars.

In this study, we carried out an investigation of the etch characteristics of TiO2 thin films and the selectivity of TiO2 to SiO2 in adaptive coupled C12/Ar plasma. The maximum etch rate of the TiO2 thin film was 136±5 nm/min at a gas mixing ratio of C12/Ar (75%:25%). The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis showed the efficient destruction of oxide bonds by the ion bombardment as well as the accumulation of low volatile reaction products on the etched surface.
Low density polyethylene is widely used as an insulating material In electric power cables. It is most important to know the beginning of its aging by partial discharge and UV-ray. That Is reason which we investigate chemiluminescence of the LDPE treated by partial discharge, UV-ray and corona discharge. We find that it takes one hour on spectra of IR but 0.17 minutes on chemiluminescence in the variation of chemical by partial discharge. Also we knew that Lithium carbonate-added(1phr) LDPE offered obvious suppressing effect on aging by partial discharge through the chemiluminescence. Therefore, the chemiluminescence is a highly sensitive and effective measurement method to appreciate characteristics of the treated surface and the oxidation reaction.
The femoral fracture is the most serious problem of old ages haying osteoporotic fractures. First of all, prevention to reduce the incidence of hip fracture and to identify the risk factor is essential subject. The purpose of this study is to investigate which geometric parameters of proximal femur are related to the hip fracture risk in old ages. Author analyzed the bone density and bone content of over 60 years old women who had suffered hip fracture (n=60) and non fracture groups (n=60). Author concluded that geometric measurements of proximal femoral part made on dual energy x-ray absorptiometry can predict hip fracture independently of bone mineral density.
