The purpose of the present study was to evaluate cardiovascular regulation during passive standing (PS) after ethanol ingestion by spectral analysis of heart rate variability (HRV) in flushed and nonflushed subjects. Of 24 young male subjects, 8 belonged to flushed group (F) and 16 to nonflushed group (NF). Two sessions of 10-min PS were performed before and after ethanol (0.5 g/kg) ingestion. Powers of R-R interval variability in very low frequency $(VLF,\;0{\sim}0.05\;Hz),$ low frequency $(LF,\;0.05{\sim}0.15\;Hz)$ and high frequency $(HF,\;0.15{\sim}0.50\;Hz)$ bands, normalized powers (LFn and HFn) and LF/HF ratio were obtained. After ethanol ingestion, F showed higher heart rate than NF. PS increased LFn $(+22.9{\pm}3.6\;in\;NF,\;+12.8{\pm}4.7$ in F, in normalized units) and LF/HF $(+3.10{\pm}0.57\;in\;NF,\;+3.00{\pm}1.08\;in\;F)$ and decreased HFn powers. Ethanol ingestion increased LFn and LF/HF and decreased HFn. PS after ethanol resulted in higher LFn and LF/HF and lower HFn than the prior PS. F showed a greater and more sustained HRV change than NF after ethanol. In conclusion, PS or ethanol ingestion increased LFn and LF/HF and decreased HFn. Flushed subjects showed an accentuated HRV response to ethanol.

We present the results offar ultraviolet (FUV, 1350-1750 ${\AA}$) auroral observations made by the Far-ultraviolet IMaging Spectrograph (FIMS) instrument on the Korean microsatellite STSAT-1. The instrument was capable of resolving spatial structures of a few kilometers with the spectral resolution of 2-3 ${\AA}$. The observations were carried out simultaneously with the measurement of precipitating electrons using an electrostatic analyzer (ESA, 100 eV-20 keV) and a solid state telescope (SST, 170 keV-360 keV) on board the same satellite. With a careful mapping of the field lines, we were able to correlate the particle spectrum to the corresponding FUV spectrum of the footprints of the FIMS image that varied significantly in fine scales. We divided the FIMS spectral band into the LBH long (LBHL, 1640-1715 ${\AA}$) and LBH short (LBHS, 1380-1455 ${\AA}$) bands, and compared the electron energies with the intensities of LBHL and LBHS for the well-defined inverted-V structures. The result shows a strong correlation between the total LBH intensity and the energy flux measured by ESAwhile the peak energy itself does not correlate well with the LBH intensity. On the other hand, it was observed that the ratio of the LBHL intensity to that of LBHS increased significantly as the peak electron energy increased, primarily due to a smaller absorption by O2 at LBHL than at LBHS.

This research developed a measurement technique that can measure the oxygen temperature inside a high temperature furnace. Instead of measuring only changes in frequency components within a small range used in the existing variable laser absorption spectroscopy, laser spectroscopy technology was used to spread out wavelength of the light source passing through the gas Based on a total of 20,000 image data, research was conducted to predict the temperature of a high-temperature furnace using CNN with black and white images in the form of spectral bands by temperature of 25 to 800 degrees. The optimal model was found through Hyper parameter optimization, R2 score is 0.89, and the accuracy of the test data is 88.73%. Based on this research, it is expected that concentration measurement and air-fuel ratio control technology can be applied.

The experimental study was carried out to investigate the pressure fluctuation, operating frequency, noise emission and combustion characteristics in an aero-valved pulsating combustor. Measurements of the pressure fluctuation, mean temperature and ion current inside the combustion chamber indicate that combustion phenomena are characteristically similar to those in the diffusion flame. The measured frequency schedue indicates that the acoustic theory of the quarter wave tube can be approximated to give the operating frequency, but correction factor must be involved to estimate the correct operating frequency. The spectral behavior of the noise emission exhibits that frequency bands with high noise intensity are narrowly restricted to the neighborhood of the operating frequency signalling the low-frequency combustion characteristics of the pulsating combustor. Measurements of the operating characteristics as variation of the fuel nozzle diameter and injection angle with 4 fuel nozzles have been made, and it was found that the system produced the stable operating conditions up to the turn down ratio of 3 when the fuel nozzle diameter is 1.2mm, and the optimum fuel injection angle is thought to be in the neighborhood of 30.deg. radially.
This paper proposes a new masking threshold adjustment strategy to improve the performance for speech signals in low bit-rate audio coding. After determining formant regions, the masking threshold is adjusted by using the energy ratio of each sub-band to the average energy of each formant. More quantization noises are added to the bands that have relatively large energy, but less distortion is allowed in spectral valley regions by allocating more bits, which reflects the concept of perceptual weighting widely used in speech coding. From the results of objective speech quality measure, we verified that the proposed method improves quality for the speech input signals compared to the conventional one.

In this paper we propose a new two-color signal processing algorithm for efficient target tracking under complicated condition including interfernces such as background noises and countermeasures. For the efficient target tracking, we adopt two detection bands, and define the ratio between two band signals which represents the spectral distribution characteristics of a target or interference. The proposed algorithm detects the ratio of interference, and extracts only the target signal from the target and the interference mixed signal by using it. To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we apply it to a rosette tracker and perform various simulations. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm extracts the target signal from the mixed signal well. The proposed algorithm is also ready to be applied to a real system since it is simple and adaptive for environment change.
The current spectral shape matching method (SSMM), developed by Ahn and Shanmugam (2004), relies on the assumption that the path radiance resulting from scattered photons due to air molecules and aerosols and possibly direct-reflected light from the air-sea interface is spatially homogeneous over the sub-scene of interest, enabling the retrieval of water-leaving radiances ($L_w$) from the satellite ocean color image data. This assumption remains valid for the clear atmospheric conditions, but when the distribution of aerosol loadings varies dramatically the above postulation of spatial homogeneity will be violated. In this study, we present the second version of SSMM which will take into account the horizontal variations of aerosol loading in the correction of atmospheric effects in SeaWiFS ocean color image data. The new version includes models for the correction of the effects of aerosols and Raleigh particles and a method fur computation of diffuse transmittance ($t_{os}$) as similar to SeaWiFS. We tested this method over the different optical environments and compared its effectiveness with the results of standard atmospheric correction (SAC) algorithm (Gordon and Wang, 1994) and those from in-situ observations. Findings revealed that the SAC algorithm appeared to distort the spectral shape of water-leaving radiance spectra in suspended sediments (SS) and algal bloom dominated-areas and frequently yielded underestimated or often negative values in the lower green and blue part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Retrieval of water-leaving radiances in coastal waters with very high sediments, for instance = > 8g $m^{-3}$, was not possible with the SAC algorithm. As the current SAC algorithm does not include models for the Asian aerosols, the water-leaving radiances over the aerosol-dominated areas could not be retrieved from the image and large errors often resulted from an inappropriate extrapolation of the estimated aerosol radiance from two IR bands to visible spectrum. In contrast to the above results, the new SSMM enabled accurate retrieval of water-leaving radiances in a various range of turbid waters with SS concentrations from 1 to 100 g $m^{-3}$ that closely matched with those from the in-situ observations. Regardless of the spectral band, the RMS error deviation was minimum of 0.003 and maximum of 0.46, in contrast with those of 0.26 and 0.81, respectively, for SAC algorithm. The new SSMM also remove all aerosol effects excluding areas for which the signal-to-noise ratio is much lower than the water signal.
Variations in phytoplankton concentrations result from changes of the ocean color caused by phytoplankton pigments. Thus, ocean spectral reflectance for low chlorophyll waters are blue and high chlorophyll waters tend to have green reflectance. In the Korea region, clear waters and the open sea in the Kuroshio regions of the East China Sea have low chlorophyll. As one moves even closer In the northwestern part of the East China Sea, the situation becomes much more optically complicated, with contributions not only from higher concentration of phytoplankton, but also from sediments and dissolved materials from terrestrial and sea bottom sources. The color often approaches yellow-brown in the turbidity waters (Case Ⅱ waters). To verify satellite ocean color retrievals, or to develop new algorithms for complex case Ⅱ regions requires ship-based studies. In this study, we compared the chlorophyll retrievals from NASA's SeaWiFS sensor with chlorophyll values determined with standard fluorometric methods during two cruises on Korean NFRDI ships. For the SeaWiFS data, we used the standard NASA SeaWiFS algorithm to estimate the chlorophyll_a distribution around the Korean waters using Orbview/ SeaWiFS satellite data acquired by our HPRT station at NFRDl. We studied In find out the relationship between the measured chlorophyll_a from the ship and the estimated chlorophyll_a from the SeaWiFs satellite data around the northern part of the East China Sea, in February, and May, 2000. The relationship between the measured chlorophyll_a and the SeaWiFS chlorophyll_a shows following the equations (1) In the northern part of the East China Sea. Chlorophyll_a =0.121Ln(X) + 0.504, R²= 0.73 (1) We also determined total suspended sediment mass (55) and compared it with SeaWiFS spectral band ratio. A suspended solid algorithm was composed of in-.situ data and the ratio (L/sub WN/(490 ㎚)L/sub WN/(555 ㎚) of the SeaWiFS wavelength bands. The relationship between the measured suspended solid and the SeaWiFS band ratio shows following the equation (2) in the northern part of the East China Sea. SS = -0.703 Ln(X) + 2.237, R²= 0.62 (2) In the near future, NFRDI will develop algorithms for quantifying the ocean color properties around the Korean waters, with the data from regular ocean observations using its own research vessels and from three satellites, KOMPSAT/OSMl, Terra/MODIS and Orbview/SeaWiFS.
Airborne MSS data is regarded as a potentially effective data source for the measurement of water quality and for the environmental change of water bodies. In this study, we measured the radiance reflectance by using multi-spectral image of low resolution camera(LRC) which will be reached in the multi-purpose satellite(KOMPSAT) to use the data in analyzing water pollution. We also investigated the possibility of extraction of water quality factors in water bodies by using high resolution remote sensing data such as Airborne MSS. Especially, we tried to extract environmental factors related with eutrophication such as chlorophyll-a, suspended sediments and turbidity, and also tried to develop the process technique and the radiance feature of reflectance related with eutrophication. Although it was difficult to explicitly correlate Airborne MSS data with water quality factors due to the insufficient number of ground truth data. The results were summarized as follows: First, the spectrum of sun's rays which reaches the surface of the earth was consistent with visible bands of 0.4${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$~0.7${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and about 50% of total quantity of radiation could be found. The spectrum was reached highest at around 0.5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ of green spectral band in visible bands. Second, as a result of the radiance reflectance Chlorophyll-a represented high mainly around 0.52${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ of green spectral band, and suspended sediments and turbidity represented high at 0.8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and at 0.57${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, respectively. Finally, as a result of the water quality analysis by using Airborne MSS, Chlorophyll-a could have a distribution image after carrying out ratio of B3 and B5 to B7. Band 7 was useful for making the distribution image of suspended sediments. When we carried out PCA, suspended sediments and turbidity had distributions at PC 1 and PC 4 which are similar to the ground data. Above results can be changed according to the change of season and time. Therefore, in order to analyze the environmental factors of water quality by using LRC data more exactly, we need to investigate the ground data and the radiance feature of reflectance of water bodies constantly. For further studies, we will constantly analyze the radiance feature of the surface of water in wafter bodies by measuring the on-the-spot radiance reflectance and using low resolution satellite image(SeaWiFS). We will also gather the data of water quality analysis in water bodies and analyze the pattern of water pollution.
The problem has been pointed out that the domestic design response spectrum does not reflect site amplification, particularly in the high frequency bands, including the fact that site specific response spectrum from the observed ground motions appears relatively higher than design response spectrum. Among various methods, this study applied H/V spectral ratio of ground motion for estimating site amplification. This method, originated from S waves and Rayleigh waves, recently has been extended to Coda waves and background noise for estimating site amplification. For limited time of periods, 4 electric substation sites had operated seismic stations at two separate locations (bedrock and borehole) within each substation site. H/V spectral ratio of S wave, Coda wave, and background noise, was applied to 36 accelerations of 3 macro earthquakes (Odaesan, Jeju and Gongju earthquakes), larger than magnitude 3.4. observed simultaneously at each bedrock location within 4 electric substation sites. Site amplifications at the bedrock location of 4 sites were compared among S wave, Coda wave energy, and background noise, and then compared to the previous results from the borehole location data. The site classification was also tried using resonancy frequency information at each site and location. The results suggested that all the electric substation sites showed similar site amplification patterns among S wave, Coda wave, and background noise. Each station showed its own characteristics of site amplification property in low, high and specific resonance frequency ranges. Comparison of this study to other results using different method can give us much more information about dynamic amplification of domestic sites characteristics and site classification.
