Recently, the importance of the industrial warehouse floor has been increasing due to the development of the distribution and logistics industry. In this present study, an early-hardening polymer floor mortar which can compensate for the limitation of conventional cement based floor mortar regarding fluidity and long curing time was developed. In order to achieve the early-hardening of mortar characteristic ultra rapid hardening cement was used as binder. Four types of mixture proportions in accordance with the vinyl acetate ethylene(VAE) polymer contents with range from 10% to 20% and the other proto proportion without VAE polymer were designed. Mechanical experiments including the fluidity test, compressive strength test, bending test, bond test, and abrasion test were conducted for all mixture proportions. From the flow test result, it was possible to achieve the high flow with 250 mm by controlling the amount of superplasticizer. The incorporation of VAE polymer was found to affect the compressive strength reduction, however, the flexural strength was higher than that of the proto mixture, and it was evaluated to increase the compressive strength / flexural strength ratio. Moreover, at least 2.6 times higher bond strength and more than 4 times higher abrasion resistance were secured. From the mechanical experiments results, the optimum mixing ratio of the VAE polymer was determined to be 10%. As a result of application and monitoring, it shows that it has excellent resistance to cracking, discoloration, impact, and scratch as well as bond performance compared to the cement based floor mortar.

Since the current method of SCW cement milk pouring method uses one to one ratio of cement milk with OPC, there are some problems such as drying shrinkage, increased cost, difficulty of controlling mix proportions for various conditions of applied soil, and precipitation of $Cr^{6+}$ due to the excessively used cement. Specifically, in aspect of sustainability issues of cement manufacturing, the consumption of cement should be reduced. Hence, in this research, as a replacement of cement for SCW method, blast furnace slag with sulfate or alkali as a stimulant, and expansive admixture were used. By using blast furnace slag as a hardening composite of SCW, there are many advantages such as free controllable mix proportions, rapid setting time with less mud occurrence, less cost with less energy for mixing, constant strength development, and less precipitation of $Cr^{6+}$. Regarding the alternative composites for SCW, in this research, durability and chloride resistance were evaluated.
The impact of urbanization on local meteorology (e.g., surface temperature, PBL height, wind speed, etc.) in the Greater Seoul Area (GSA) was quantitatively evaluated based on a numerical modeling approach during a 1-month period of 2001 (9 Sep. through 8 Oct. 2001). The analysis was carried out by two sets of simulation scenarios: (1) with the global land use and topographic data from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in 1990s (i.e., LU-USGS case) and (2) with the land use data from the Environmental Geographic Information System (EGIS) along with the 3 sec elevation data from the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) in 2000s (i.e., LU-EGIS case). The extension of urban areas in the GSA (especially, the southern parts of Seoul) accounted for 1.8% in the LU-USGS case and 6.2% in the LU-EGIS case. For the simulations, the surface temperature and PBL height due to urbanization in the LU-EGIS case was higher (the differences of up to $0.1^{\circ}C$ and 36 m, respectively) than those in the LU-USGS case, whereas the wind speed (up to 0.3 $ms^{-1}$) in the former was lower than that in the latter at 1500 LST. The increase in surface temperature due to urbanization in the GSA (especially, the southern parts of Seoul) was led to the strong convergence of air masses, causing the early sea breeze and its rapid propagation to inland locations. In addition, the vertical mixing motion in the extended urban areas for the LU-EGIS case was predicted to be stronger than that for the LU-USGS case and vice versa for the original urban areas.
The purpose of this study was to examine physical properties of the addition of Plantago powder on bread flour and dough fheology of white pan bread. Four levels(0.3, 0.6, 0.9 and 1.2%) of each Plantago powder with bread flour were tested for their effects in dough mixing using rapid visco analyzer, alveogram, farinogram and sensory test. Addition of Plantago powder(0.3, 0.6 and 0.9% ) showed almost same tendency on the initial pasting temperature but 1.2% increased it. Increment of Plantago powder showed increment of peak viscosity and final viscosity, L(extensibility) and G(swelling index) value in alveogram showed decrement with increasing Plantago powder. In farinogram the use of Plantago powder increased consistency and water absorption but decreased development time and stability. White pan bread using Plantago powder had higher value of Max. G and gardeness in rheometer than without using it. Sensory evaluation of white pan bread with 0.6% Plantago powder had the highest score.

This study was initiated to improve the cooling water quality by chemical coagulation and sedimentation in steel mills. Due to the inefficient flocculation in the settling tanks of blast furnace cooling water systems, the solid particles in the cooling water overflow accumulate and clog the cooling system. To protect the cooling water system from such fouling, proper flocculants must be continuously used. Laboratory tests were performed for the indirect cooling water system of a plate mill. The batch test in the gas scrubbing cooling water system of a blast furnace showed that the proposed coagulant was more effective for the improvement of coagulation and sedimentation than the existing one. During the tests, cationic flocculants were more effective than use of only an anionic flocculant. The suggested combination of anionic and cationic flocculants can probably improve the turbidity removal efficiency of the cooling water. Proper control of the overflow rate by the designed residence time would help turbidity removal efficiency in the settling tank. In addition, the settling can be enhanced by adopting rapid and slow mixing alternatively. Scale problems in blast furnace cooling water system were reduced to some extent by efficient settling.
A numerical analysis of thermal stratification in the upper plenum of the MONJU fast breeder reactor was performed. Calculations were performed for a 1/6 simplified model of the MONJU reactor using the commercial code, CFX-13. To better resolve the geometrically complex upper core structure of the MONJU reactor, the porous media approach was adopted for the simulation. First, a steady state solution was obtained and the transient solutions were then obtained for the turbine trip test conducted in December 1995. The time dependent inlet conditions for the mass flow rate and temperature were provided by JAEA. Good agreement with the experimental data was observed for steady state solution. The numerical solution of the transient analysis shows the formation of thermal stratification within the upper plenum of the reactor vessel during the turbine trip test. The temporal variations of temperature were predicted accurately by the present method in the initial rapid coastdown period (~300 seconds). However, transient numerical solutions show a faster thermal mixing than that observed in the experiment after the initial coastdown period. A nearly homogenization of the temperature field in the upper plenum is predicted after about 900 seconds, which is a much shorter-term thermal stratification than the experimental data indicates. This discrepancy is due to the shortcoming of the turbulence models available in the CFX-13 code for a natural convection flow with thermal stratification.
Cheju Island formed by Quarternary volcanism provides highly permeable hydrogeological environment. To meet the increasing demand of water in the island, many groundwater wells have been developed. The environmental isotopes(oxygen-18, deuterium, tritium) and chemical analysis of water samples from the eastern part of the island were carried out to ascertain whether groundwater in the eastern part of the island was contaminated by sea water. The result of tritium analysis indicated fast infiltration of meteoric water into underground and rapid mixing process between rain water and groundwater. The results of oxygen-18 and deuterium analysis demonstrated that most of the wells in the eastern part of the island were influenced by sea water intrusion. Chemical analysis of water samples revealed that most groundwater in study area were classified into Na-Cl type and showed high chloride/bicarbonate ratios. Sea water intrusion in the northeastern part of the island has proceeded at least 3 km within the coastaline, and in the south eastern part about 700m.

In this study. the recovery of plasma induced damage in the etched PZT thin film with $O_2$ re-annealing have been investigated. The PZT thin films were etched as a function of $Cl_2/Ar$ and additive $CF_4$ into $Cl_{2}(80%)/Ar(20)%$. The etch rates of PZT thin films were $1600\dot{A}/min$ at $Cl_{2}(80%)/Ar(20)%$ gas mixing ratio and $1970\dot{A}/min$ at 30 % additive $CF_4$ into $Cl_{2}(80%)/Ar(20)%$. The etched profile of PZT films was obtained above 70 by SEM. In order to recovery properties of PZT thin films after etching, the etched PZT thin films were re-annealed at various temperatures in $O_2$ atmosphere. From the hysteresis curves, ferroelectrical properties are improved by $O_2$ re-annealing process. The improvement of ferroelectric behavior at annealed sample is consistent with the increase of the (100) and (200) PZT phase revealed by x-ray diffraction (XRD). From XPS analysis, intensity of Pb-O, Zr-O and Ti-O peak are increased and the chemical residue peak is reduced by $O_2$ re-annealing. The ferroelectric behavior consistent with the dielectric nature of TixOy is recovered by $O_2$ recombination during rapid thermal annealing process. From AFM images, it shows that the surface roughness of re-annealed sample after etching is improved.
Various humic substances are widely distributed in natural water body, such as rivers and lakes and cause the yellowish or brownish color to water. The evidence that humic substances are precursors of THMs formation in chlorinated drinking water has been reported m the Jiteratures. For the reason of public health as well as aesthetics, needs for humic substances removal have been increased in the conventional water treatment processes. In this research, the characteristics of aluminium coagulation of humic acids and humic acids were investigated. The optimum pH and coagulants dosage to remove these materials simultaneously by coagulation were alto studied. The results are as followed; 1. UV-254 absorptiometry for measuring the concentration of aquatic humic acids showed good applicability and stable results. 2. The optimal pH range for humic acids removal by aluminium coagulation was 5 to 5.5, however, an increase in aluminium coagulant dosage could enhance the removal rate of humic acids in the wide pH range. 3. Coprecipitation of humic acids in the typical pH range of 6.5 to 8 in water treatment processes may require the sweep coagulation mechanism with the excess aluminium coagulant dosage. 4. Using PAC(poly aluminium chloride) or PASS(poly aluminium silica sulfate) as coagulants was able to expand the operating range for removing humic acids. 5. From the coagulation of humic substances(UV-254) and turbidity at pH range of 5.5 - 6.0 and alum dose of 86 ppm, the removal efficiency of turbidity from the reservoir water was above 90% and that of UV-254 was above 70%. 6. By using the reservoir water, the optimum condition of rapid mixing for simultaneous removal of turbidity and UV-254 absorbance was pH of 5.8 and LAS dose of 86 ppm, in this study.
Depositional processes of fine-grained sediments were investigated on the basis of sediment transport vector analysis and identification of benthic foraminiferal assemblages in Yoja Bay, southern coast of Korea. The bay is a semi-enclosed embayment where extensive mud flats occur with a width up to about 4 km. Most surface sediments are poorly sorted (sorting values: 1.9-3.0 ${\phi}$) mud and silt (mean grain size: 6.0-8.7 ${\phi}$), except for the tidal inlets with basement rocks locally exposed. Grain-size distribution shows a fining tendency toward the basin center near the Yoja Island, implying a possible existence of turbidity maximum and relatively rapid settling of fine-grained sediments. The agglutinated foraminiferal taxa are dominant in the inner bay and decrease in abundance toward the mouth of the bay. Species diversities are higher in the outer bay, due to mixing of the offshore faunas with those of the bay. Four groups of benthic foraminiferal assemblages, identified by cluster analysis, represent the bay. Biofacies I and ll with relatively lower diversities are dominated by Ammobaculites exiguus and Ammonia beccarii, suggestive of influx of fresh water. In contrast, biofacies III and IV with relatively higher diversities include increased amounts of calcareous genus Elphidium and Quinquelocuzina, accounting for strong influence of sea water from the offshore. The fluvial discharge in summer floods appears to develop a bay-wide, clockwise lateral circulation in Yoja Bay, a typical of well-mixed estuaries. Accordingly, the foraminiferal assemblages of the surface sediments well show a sign of this circulation. The dominant inflow of the offshore water into the western part of the bay has resulted in more extensive muddy tidal flats compared to the eastern narrower counterpart.
