The effects of hydrodynamics and alum dose on particle growth were investigated by monitoring particle counts in a rapid mixing process. Experiments were performed to measure the particle growth and breakup under various conditions. The rapid mixing scheme consisted of the following operating parameters: Velocity gradient (G) ($200-300s^{-1}$), alum dose (10-50 mg/L) and mixing time (30-180 s). The Poisson regression model was applied to assess the effects of the doses and velocity gradient with mixing time. The mechanism for the growth and breakup of particles was elucidated. An increase in alum dose was found to accelerate the particle count reduction. The particle count at a G value of $200s^{-1}$ decreased more rapidly than those at $300s^{-1}$. The growth and breakup of larger particles were more clearly observed at higher alum doses. Variations of particles due to aggregation and breakup of micro-flocs in rapid mixing step were interactively affected by G, mixing time and alum dose. Micro-flocculation played an important role in a rapid mixing process.
The LCD monitor market enjoyed rapid growth in 1999 but only experienced modest growth in 2000. It is now poised for rapid growth from 2001 to 2005 as prices and costs decline. Price reductions will enable LCD monitors to move beyond limited vertical markets and extend into the broader consumer markets. This article will examine the future outlook for LCD monitors and provide a growth forecast.
Chinese cabbage is one of the most important vegetables in Korea and a target crop for market stabilization as well. Remote sensing has long been used as a tool to extract plant growth, cultivated area and yield information for many crops, but little research has been conducted on Chinese cabbage. This study refers to the derivation of simple Chinese cabbage growth prediction equation by using RapidEye derived vegetation index. Daesan-myeon area in Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do, Korea is one of main producing district of Chinese cabbage. RapidEye multi-spectral imagery was taken on the Daesan-myeon five times from early September to late October during the Chinese cabbage growing season. Meanwhile, field reflectance spectra and five plant growth parameters, including plant height (P.H.), plant diameter (P.D.), leaf height (L.H.), leaf length (L.L.) and leaf number (L.N.), were measured for about 20 plants (ten plants per plot) for each ground survey. The normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) for each of the 20 plants was measured using an active plant growth sensor (Crop $Circle^{TM}$) at the same time. The results of correlation analysis between the vegetation indices and Chinese cabbage growth data showed that NDVI was the most suited for monitoring the L.H. (r=0.958~0.978), L.L. (r=0.950~0.971), P.H. (r=0.887~0.982), P.D. (r=0.855~0.932) and L.N. (r=0.718~0.968). Retrieval equations were developed for estimating Chinese cabbage growth parameters using NDVI. These results obtained using the NDVI is effective provided a basis for establishing retrieval algorithm for the biophysical properties of Chinese cabbage. These results will also be useful in determining the RapidEye multi-spectral imagery necessary to estimate parameters of Chinese cabbage.
Leaf area index (LAI) is important in explaining the ability of crops to intercept solar energy for biomass production, amount of plant transpiration, and in understanding the impact of crop management practices on crop growth. This paper describes a procedure for estimating LAI as a function of image-derived vegetation indices from temporal series of RapidEye imagery obtained from 2010 to 2012 using empirical models in a rice plain in Seosan, Chungcheongnam-do. Rice plants were sampled every two weeks to investigate LAI, fresh and dry biomass from late May to early October. RapidEye images were taken from June to September every year and corrected geometrically and atmospherically to calculate normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI). Linear, exponential, and expolinear models were developed to relate temporal satellite NDVIs to measured LAI. The expolinear model provided more accurate results to predict LAI than linear or exponential models based on root mean square error. The LAI distribution was in strong agreement with the field measurements in terms of geographical variation and relative numerical values when RapidEye imagery was applied to expolinear model. The spatial trend of LAI corresponded with the variation in the vegetation growth condition.
The author analyzed 64 males and 65 females with normal occlusion from the childhood to the juvenile korean roentgenocephalometrically. And following conclusions were obtained by means of linear analyses. 1. Maxillo-facial structure growth continued quite rapidly until puberty from childhood, and growth of male was increased than that of female after Hellman dental age IV A significantly. 2. The order of growth increments were mandibular, maxillary, and cranial base length in both sexes. 3. In both sexes, the growth of anterior face was more rapid than that of posterior face, and lower facial growth was greater than upper facial growth of anterior and posterior face. 4. The maxillo-facial height growth was rapid than that of the depth in both sexes.

Current leads of high $T_{c}$ superconductor were fabricated with Bi excess B $i_{2.2}$/S $r_{1.8}$/C $a_{1}$/C $u_{2}$/ $O_{x}$ composition by rapid cooling method. The dimensions of final samples were fixed 3 mm and 8 mm diameter with 50 mm length each To control uniform density the samples were preformed by CIP(Cold Isostatic Press) process and followed by partial or full melting process after raising up to 90$0^{\circ}C$ for 30min. Plate shaped microstructure was clearly observed adjacent to the Ag tube wall and the size of plate was about 100$\mu$m. However the severe destruction of growth orientation was shown in the inner growth part. critical temperature ( $T_{c}$) was about 53~71K after directional growth while Tc was decreased about 77~80 K before directional growth. After directional growth critical current( $I_{c}$) and critical current density( $J_{c}$) in the specimen of 8 mm diameter at 50 K were about 110 A and 280 A/c $m^2$ respectively.pectively.ely.

Sarcomatoid carcinoma is a rare and occurs mainly in the upper aerodigestive tract such as the oral cavity, esophagus and vocal cords. It is a unique variant of squamous cell carcinoma. We report the case of a patient with spindle cell squamous cell carcinoma involving the mandible. At initial examination, overlying mucosa of that lesion was normal appearance. One week later, that lesion showed ulcerative and bloody change and rapid growth in size. This case showed unpredictable rapid growth although rapid growth in size was suspected of undergoing malignancy.
Effects of alum dosage on the particle growth were investigated by monitoring particle counts in a rapid mixing process. Kaolin was used for turbid water sample and several other chemicals were added to adjust pH and ionic strength. The range of velocity gradient and mixing time applied for rapid mixing were $200{\sim}300sec^{-1}$ and 30~180 sec, respectively. Particle distribution in the synthetic water sample was close to the natural water where their turbidity was same. The number of particles in the range of $10.0{\sim}12.0{\mu}m$ increased rapidly with rapid mixing time at alum dose of 20mg/L, however, the number of $8.0{\sim}9.0{\mu}m$ particles increased at alum dose of 50mg/L. The number of $14.0{\sim}25.0{\mu}m$ particles at alum dose of 20mg/L was 10 times higher than them at alum dose of 50mg/L. Dominant particle growth was monitored at the lower alum dose than the optimum dose from a jar test at an extended rapid mixing time(about 120 sec). The number of $8.0{\sim}14.0{\mu}m$ particles was lower both at a higher alum doses and higher G values. At G value of $200sec^{-1}$ and at alum dose of 10-20mg/L, residual turbidity was lower as the mixing time increased. But at alum dose above 40mg/L and at same G value, lower residual turbidity occurred in a short rapid mixing time. Low residual turbidity at G value of $300sec^{-1}$ occurred both at lower alum doses and at shorter mixing time comparing to the results at G value of $200sec^{-1}$.

In the process of ZnO ceramic sintering at a temperature of 1385℃, higher than the normal sintering temperature, some grains were growth up to mm scale. When sintered at 1400℃ for 8 hours, the size of the grains that are not involved in the abnormal growth is as large as 30~40 ㎛, but the size of the abnormal grown grain reaches 1,000 ㎛, which is more than 10,000 times bigger in volume than the normal one within 8 hr growth. As a cause of rapid and abnormal grain growth, primary particle size distribution, compaction density variation within sample and doping of impurities could be considered. The primary particle size distribution could be considered main reason for abnormal grain growth but no solid evidence was obtained. Through the observation of the microstructure, it is presumed that the giant grains grow absorbing the neighbor grains through a grain rotation process.
