  • We investigated the possibility of systemizing data for the colour gradation of classical ceramics by build-ing program and D-basing each data information in pottery field that has been fall behind in forming data be-cause of many variable and lacking of data system. In this study we manufactured $CoAl_2O_4$ stain that has stable spinel structure at high temperature and then mixed base glaze with stain for the additive per-centage of 0.5 , 1, 5, 10, 15 wt% In thie colouring of Lime base glaze with the wide ranged melting tem-perature the colour development of cobalt-blue sintered at $1250^{\circ}C$ is better than that of $1150^{\circ}C$ $1350^{\circ}C$ The experimental conditions and data are D-based simulated programming of computer. The result of -based data appeared to be more smoothed fusion-adherence in the Matt glaze range of Lime base glaze, The variation of colouring is not found when additive content of glaze is more than 5 wt% and the stable colour development of stain was shown at the content that RO, $R_2O$ percentage is high (the content that R2O3 per-centage is low)

A Study of Contamination of soil in playgrounds with the eggs of Toxocara canis reduced ocular toxocariasis (Toxocara canis 충란에 의한 놀이터 토양 오염에 관한 연구)

  • The prevalence of Toxocara canis eggs in the public places in the city of Gwangju were studied through examination of 800 soil and 123 fecal specimens. Toxocara canis eggs were found in 15% of soil samples. In 25% parks and 17% residential quarters, these eggs were detected with higher contamination rate than other places. The soil contamination rate of playgrounds in spring and autumn was higher than that of summer and winter, and the variation range of the rate was high in parks and residential quarters. The contamination rate of eggs in 123 samples of dogs' feces was 31%, it was higher than that of soil samples(21%).

  • Automatic exposure control systems are now readily available and widly used in radiography. A device that automatically determines the amount of radiation required to produce an acceptable level of film blackness is called a phototimer, or automatic exposure control. There are limitations in the use of phototimers ; however, equipment can be used much more effectively if one recognize these limitations, and the goal of obtaining a properly exposed, reproducible radiography can be achieved. We have some results in this experimental study. The variations of film density due to kVp are in propotion to below 80 kVp range. But indicate constant level above 80 kVp to 120 kVp. The characteristic density variation by phantom thickness shows the higher the thiner in exit type. AEC system have a density control that is designed to make adjustments increase or decreas the density 10% per step or 25% per step. The automatic exposure control circuits must meet the several regulations of the HEW. Some forms of technique chart is recomened for use of AEC.

  • This paper presents a modeling and a controller design for a hybrid wind turbine generator, especially with an operating mode of battery energy-storage system and a dumpload that contribute to the frequency control of the system while diesel-synchronous unit is not in operation. The proposed control scheme is based on a robust tracking controller, which takes an account of system uncertainties due to the wind flow and load variations. In order to provide robustness for system uncertainties, the range of operation is partitioned into three operating conditions as sub-models in the controller design. In the simulation study, the proposed robust tracking controller (RTC) is compared with the conventional proportional-integral (PI) controller. Simulation results show that the effectiveness of the RTC against disturbances caused by wind speed and load variation. Thus, better quality of the hybrid wind power system is achieved.

  • A separate heat pipe system capacity of 3,700kW has been developed and applied to preheating the blast furnace gas for recovery of the waste heat from boiler. The system is designed to preheat the blast furnace gas up to $126^{\circ}C$ by using tho boiler exhaust gas of which temperature is $180^{\circ}C{\sim}220^{\circ}C$. The arrangement of the fin tubes as well as the shape of the fin has been carefully determined to minimize the fouling problems. The heat pipe system was found to be stable in circulation of the working fluid and the range of the temperature variation of the preheated blast furnace gas was within $10^{\circ}C$. It was proved through a long-term test that the selected tube arrangement and the shape of the fins are proper to prevent the fouling problems and that the pay-back period of the system Is within one year.

Making the Insulation Mortar Mixed with Waste Paper and Sawdust (종이와 톱밥을 혼입한 단열 모르타르 재료 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This study is to test insulation mortar mixed with wastepaper and sawdust to find out its insulation performance. Therefore, wastepaper and sawdust have been added to normal mortar. They are analyzed for the above purpose using compressive strength and insulation performance. It is found that the more wastepaper and sawdust will be mixed, the lower heat conductivity will be taken. Wastepaper and sawdust mixture will be more 2.0% then the insulation mortar quality can be compatible with the 3rd kind of the standard. Optimal mixture for insulation will be wast paper:sawdust=4:6. Cohesive test of materials showed that test material has stronger than stand are $0.10N/mm^2$. It is satisfactory the test result showed a range of $0.12{\sim}0.15N/mm^2$ from the test result. Optimal mixture of wastepaper and sawdust have been found out from the study comprehensively, exclusive of the proportion of wastepaper:sawdust = 8:2. It is thought that standard of length deformation; 0.5% is reasonable. This means that deformation of mortar itself can be considered. But it is also Shown that water mixture has also been sharply changed at first flow test. Therefore, it is thought that absorbed water content in the material gave considerable effect to variation rate.

  • CarboKorea and HydroKorea are the domestic projects aiming to improve our understanding of carbon and water cycles in a typical Korean forest located in a complex terrain with a watershed connected to large rivers. The ultimate goal is to provide a nowcasting of these cycles for the whole Peninsula. The basic strategy to achieve such goal is through the inter- and multi-disciplinary studies that synthesize the in-situ field observation, modeling and remote sensing technology. The challenge is the fact that natural ecosystems are nonlinear and heterogeneous with a wide range of spatio-temporal scales causing the variations of mass and energy exchanges from a leaf to landscape scales. Our paradigm now shifts from temporal variation at a point to spatial patterns and from spatial homogeneity to complexity of water and carbon at multiple scales. Yet, a large portion of our knowledge about land-atmosphere interactions has been established based on tower observations, indicating that the development of scaling logics holds the key to the success of CarboKorea and HydroKorea. Here, we review the pioneering work of FIFE (First ISLSCP Field Experiment) on scaling issues in a temperate grassland and discuss the lessons from it for the application to Gwangneung forest site.

Development and Application Performance of a Granular Herbicide Applicator Attached to Rice Transplanter (승용 이앙기 부착형 제초입제 살포기 개발과 살포성능)

  • A herbicide applicator attached to a rice transplanter was developed to perform herbicide application and transplanting simultaneously. The prototype machine was composed of herbicide tank, discharge device, spinner, scattering plate and power drive. The application rate of the machine could be adjusted from 10 to 30 kg/㏊ and the application swath was 1.8m. According to the field test, application uniformity showed the range of 13.6~43.9% in terms of CV(coefficient of variation) depending on the spinner speed, application height and shape of diffuser. The best uniformity could be achieved with the spinner speed of 30.8m/s and application height of 20cm. Field efficiency of the prototype was 4.7hr/㏊. Transplanting machine has field efficiency of 4.6hr/㏊ in Korea. By attaching the herbicide applicator, field efficiency became lowed only by 0.1hr/㏊, which was counted for filling time of herbicide. Simultaneous operation of transplanting and herbicide application had a of labor saying. The weed control efficacy was measured to be 96% in field when AC140 + Stomp and Londax + YRC was applied at the 65th day after transplanting. Nonanmae was treated by manual application to be compared to.

  • In order to evaluate the long-term permeability performace of the geotextiles, for five different combination of geotextiles and soils the long-term column test method The results obtained are as follows; 1.The gradient range of the initial stage of the long-term permeability curves varied with respect to the soil types, while that of the final stage varied according to the interaction of the soil/geotextile system. 2.The time required for a given soil/geotextile system to reach a interactive stable stage was measured ahout 100 hours for the standard sand and 150 to 600 hours for the silty content soils, respectively. 3.There were no differences between the plain woven geotextile and the non-geotextile in the long-term permeability performance. 4.As the silt content increased, the long-term performance of the geotextiles decreased, and the limiting silt content was about 15%. 5.The thickness and area density of the geotextiles did not influence on the variation of the seepage quantities. 6.The ayerage slope and the transition time of the long-time flow curve were calculated. 7.In order to evaluate the mechanism of soil/geotextile system more perfectly, the gradient ratio test or the hydraulic conductivity test is required.

  • NiO-doped $WO_3$ thick films were prepared by a screen printing technique. The electrical property and microstructure of the films were investigated with the partial pressure of oxygen and the amount of NiO. The grain size of NiO-doped $WO_3$ was smaller than that of undoped $WO_3$, but the grain size of 0.1, 1, 10 mol% NiO-doped $WO_3$ were nearly the same. The electrical conductance of the $WO_3$ thick films decreased with the oxygen partial pressure, and increased with the amount of NiO to the limit of solid solution. The variation of the electrical conductance with temperature is not so large in the extrinsic region, but it changed rapidly in the intrinsic region. The conductance decreased with adsorption of oxygen in the intermediate range between the extrinsic and intrinsic region.
