  • In this paper, we propose an effective dynamic range compression (DRC) method of infrared images. A histogram of infrared images has narrow dynamic range compared to visible images. Hence, it is important to apply the effective DRC algorithm for high performance of an infrared image analysis. The proposed algorithm for high dynamic range divides an infrared image into the overlapped blocks and calculates Shannon's entropy of overlapped blocks. After that, we classify each block according to the value of entropy and apply adaptive histogram modification method each overlapped block. We make an intensity mapping function through result of the adaptive histogram modification method which is using standard-deviation and maximum value of histogram of classified blocks. Lastly, in order to reduce block artifact, we apply hanning window to the overlapped blocks. In experimental result, the proposed method showed better performance of dynamic range compression compared to previous algorithms.

  • This study tries to identify distributional characteristics of stream incision rates at 23 points in the northern part of the Taebaek Mountains. Soyang-gang, Naerin-cheon, Odae-cheon, Dong-gang and upper reaches of Okdong-cheon Rivers closed to the Range show higher incision rates and the rates clearly decrease with distance from the Range. Therefore, the incision process in the northern part of the Range has been greatly influenced by uplift around the Range, and the Sobaek Mountain Range seem to play a role in the incision process. Limestone areas show lower incision rates due to degradation of terrace surface by dissolution. This study suggests that local hydrological, geological and geomorphological conditions can be regarded as an important factor in stream incision rates, although stream incision rates are greatly influenced by regional uplift.

  • The feasibility of small linear antenna for near range wireless communications was studied. The requirement of the system are frequency range 9∼12 MHz and antenna size 15 cm. The communication range is about 15 m. The antenna input impedance is very small radiation resistance and very large capacitive reactance. The lossless impedance matching is nearly impossible, therefore lossy matching is considered. The antenna has very low radiation efficiency. The near field calculation has a large uncertainty, but the results can be used as the guideline of a small linear antenna system for a near range wireless communication.

  • In this paper we introduce rings that satisfy regular 1-stable range. These rings are left-right symmetric and are generalizations of unit 1-stable range. We investigate characterizations of these kind of rings and show that these rings are closed under matrix rings and Morita Context rings.

  • In this paper range measurement systems using ultrasonic and visual sensors are designed. By varying the focus of a camera, the range to a target pattern is computed. Pour different methods are tested for the focusing-based range measurement. The best result is obtained when counting edge pixels found by Laplacian operator. Higher accuracy can be obtained by fusing the measurement of camera focusing with that of ultrasonic sensor. The system designed is experimented within the range of 300-450mm.

  • In this paper, a simulator for radar performance evaluation in a far-field test range is proposed, which can forecast maximum detection range, minimum detection range, number of test trials, resolution (range, azimuth, elevation) with input parameters before radar performance test and process results after. The proposed simulator is designed by Microsoft Foundation Class (MFC) of VC++ 6.0.

  • Autonomous mobile robot Yamabico and his newly developed ultrasonic range finding module(URF) are described. Yamabico is a self-contained autonomous robot for in-door environment. It has a modularized architecture, which consists of master module, ultrasonic range finding module, locomotion module, voice synthesizer module and console. Newly developed ultrasonic range finding module has a 68000 processor and Dual-port memory for communication. It controls the ultrasonic transmitters and receivers and calculate the range distances for 12-direction, simultaneously within every 60 milliseconds.

  • This paper concerns methods for ${\mu}$-wave imaging. The image reconstruction of an object by range-doppler preceding using the X-Band Linear-FM signal is presented from tile simulated data. The high degree of range resolution is achived using large signal band width and cross-range resolution is obtained by doppler processing.
