  • In this paper, we propose a method to avoidance obstacle in which we assume that obstacle has an unstable limit cycle in the chaos trajectory surface. In order to avoid the obstacle, we assume that all obstacles in the chaos trajectory surface in which has an unstable limit cycle with Van der Pol equation. In this paper show also that computer simulation results are satisfy to avoid obstacle in the chaos trajectory with Chua's circuit equation of one or multi obstacle has an limit cycle with Van der Pol (VDP) efuation and compare to rate of cover in one robot which have random walk and Chua's equation.

  • In many applications of UAVs flying in low altitude, the steady supply of accurate height measurements is very important for the UAVs to complete their mission successfully. In order to do this, a barometer or GPS height measurements are widely used. However, because these two sensors have their limitations in the application environment, a method for fusing these two measurements to produce reference heights are required. In this paper, a reference height generation filter is designed for UAV(Unmanned Air Vehicle) applications. The barometer errors originated by the change of the atmospheric environment are modeled using random walk models, and then the errors are identified and compensated through the ZSB(zero-scan-back) filter algorithm using the GPS height measurements. The performance of the proposed filter is demonstrated by realistic simulations.

  • This paper presents an Differential Search(DS) Algorithm for solving the economic load dispatch(ELD) problems with Valve-Point loading constraints. DS algorithm simulates the Brownian-like random-walk movement used by an organism to migrate. Numerical results on a test system consisting of 13 units show that the proposed approach is faster, more robust and powerful than conventional algorithms. Case studies show the simulation results are better than Lagrange method, the Hopfield neural networks and GA.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to avoid obstacles that have unstable limit cycles in a chaos trajectory surface. We assume all obstacles in the chaos trajectory surface have a Van der Pol equation with an unstable limit cycle. When a chaos robot meets an obstacle in an Arnold equation or Chua's equation trajectory, the obstacle reflects the robot. We also show computer simulation results of Arnold equation and Chua's equation and random walk chaos trajectories with one or more Van der Pol obstacles and compare the coverage rates of each trajectory. We show that the Chua's equation is slightly more efficient in coverage rates when two robots are used, and the optimal number of robots in either the Arnold equation or the Chua's equation is also examined.

  • The solute transport in a two-dimensional heterogeneous porous medium is numerically studied by using a random walk particle tracking (RWPT) method. Lognormally isotropic hydraulic conductivity fields are generated by using the turning band methods with mean zero and four different values of standard deviation. The numerical transport experiments are carried out to investigate the large time and spatial effects of the variable pore velocity field on solute plumes. The behavior of the solute plume through numerical simulations is presented in terms of longitudinal and transverse spatial moments: displacement of center-of-mass, plume spread variance and skewness coefficient. It was observed that the dispersive behavior of the solute plume is strongly affected by the degree of heterogeneity in the flow domain.

  • Partial quenching structure of diffusion flames in a turbulent mixing layer has been investigated by the method of flame hole dynamics in oder to develope a prediction model for the phenomenon of turbulent flame lift off. The present study is specifically aimed to remedy the shortcoming of the stiff transition of the conditioned partial burning probability across the crossover condition by employing the level-set method which enables us to include the effect of finite flame edge propagation speed. In light of the level-set simulation results with two models for the edge propagation speed, the stabilizing conditions for turbulent lifted flame are suggested. The flame hole dynamics combined with the level-set method yields a temporally evolving turbulent extinction process and its partial quenching characteristics is compared with the results of the previous model employing the flame-hole random walk mapping based on three critical scalar dissipation rates. The probability to encounter reacting state, conditioned with scalar dissipation rate, demonstrated that the conditional probability has a rather gradual transition across the crossover scalar dissipation rate. Such a smooth transition is attributed to the finite response of the flame edge propagation.

  • In this paper, we propose a distributed parent peer selection method to construct an efficient peer-to-peer(P2P) network topology by considering the capacity of a peer and the hop distance from a data source to the peer. To achieve this goal, we propose a method to combine the two performance metrics to calculate the probability that a peer becomes a parent peer. Using the probability, we propose a method to select a parent peer stochastically by making use of the state information of the neighboring peers that each peer maintains. Through simulation studies, we show that the proposed method drives high capacity peers to support more children peers and makes the diameter of the P2P network shorter than the other methods.

  • A signal processing method for white light interferometry (WLI), which performs a series of analog signal processing steps to locate the central interference fringe position at high speed: is developed and applied to a WLI temperature sensor system. We found that the new method has random walk of $0.019^{\circ}C/\sqrt{Hz}$ with good linearity. However, the temperature change in the path-matching interferometer results in drift of the measured sensor output. The temperature dependence of drift in the WLI temperature sensor system, was calculated to be $1.42{\mu}m/^{\circ}C$. It is also found that the relationship between the peak spacing in the interferogram and the spacing measured by the method can be nonlinear when the fringe spacing is comparable to the coherence length of the source.

  • To overcome the weaknesses of conventional finite difference model in pollutant dispersion modelling, the particle tracking method is used. In this study, a three dimensional particle tracking model which can be used in Princeton Ocean Model was developed and verified through the various numerical tests. Usability of the model was also confirmed through the ocean outfall modelling in Tampa Bay, Florida. As it is expected, random walk model showed the less dispersion in a range compared to the conventional finite difference model and its reason is estimated due to an error from numerical diffusion which the conventional model holds. This newly developed model is expected to be used in various ocean dispersion modelling.
