  • On the basis of the development of KSLV-1, KoDSat was designed and manufactured to demonstrate the performance of KSLV-1. KoDSat is exposed to a severe vibrational environment at launch. The structural reliability of KoDSat has to be verified using vibrational test. The structural compatibility and verification of components between analysis and test can be proved using environmental vibration test. In this paper, we review the structural characteristic of thruster control unit for a space launch vehicle and design TCU housing using mathematical model. In order to verify the structural compatibility and reliability, half-sine shock, random and sing sweep vibration test was performed. Especially, sing sweep vibration test result is compared with analysis result and mathematical model is verified.

  • Launch vehicles and satellites experience severe vibration and pyroshock during the flight phase. These severe dynamic loading could result in the malfunction of electric devices which equipped in the launch vehicle and satellite. In this paper, mesh washer isolators are applied to attenuate these severe shock and vibration and isolation performances are enhanced by applying pseudoelasitic SMA wire material. Through random vibration and ground pyroshock tests, outstanding isolation performances are studied. Especially, comparison of isolation performances due to the change of pre-compressive displacement of mesh washer itself are suggested and applicablity to the adaptive vibration control are confirmed.

  • A new method is proposed for random vibration anaylsis of hysteretic systems subjected to non-stationary random excitations. With the Bouc-Wen model, motion equations of hysteretic systems are first transformed into quasi-linear equations by applying the concept of equivalent excitations and decoupling of the real and hysteretic displacements, and the derived equation system can be solved by either the precise time integration or the Newmark-${\beta}$ integration method. Combining the numerical solution of the auxiliary differential equation for hysteretic displacements, an explicit iteration algorithm is then developed for the dynamic response analysis of hysteretic systems. Because the computational cost for a large number of deterministic analyses of hysteretic systems can be significantly reduced, Monte-Carlo simulation using the explicit iteration algorithm is now viable, and statistical characteristics of the non-stationary random responses of a hysteretic system can be obtained. Numerical examples are presented to show the accuracy and efficiency of the present approach.

  • To increase accurateness and reliability of the evaluation of power tool vibration transmitted to an operator, it is necessary to measure the grip and feed forces during the measurement of hand-transmitted vibration. In the study a system was invented to measure the vibration and the grip and/or feed force, which consists of a measurement handle and a PC with a data acquisition system and the corresponding software. Strain gauges and an accelerometer were mounted on the handle surface for the simultaneous measurement of the forces and the vibration. The program in the system makes it possible to monitor the grip and feed force during the tool operation so that the operator keeps the applying forces within the pre-determined range. Investigating the vibration total values, frequency-weighted root-mean-square accelerations at the handle, obtained in repetition for each power tool with control of the grip and feed force showed more consistency than those measured without force control. By using the system the experimenter can reduce random error of the measured vibration.

  • The working conditions of construction equipments such as excavators, wheel loaders and haulers are very tough and severe in fact. To design main components of construction equipment under the severe environment, it's important for engineers to consider design for vibration durability point of view at the early stage of product development process. Radiator as a cooling unit of construction equipment is one of critical components to apply design for vibration. We present a design for vibration process and methodology on the radiator system in construction equipment industries. From the natural frequency and the random vibration analysis based on field vibration test data, we could find current status of radiator layout design to develop and made best layout specification of radiator design to decide for product development process at the early stage.

  • In order to evaluate absorption coefficient, experimental works for normal and random incident absorption coefficient are made. An investigation for correlation between normal and random incident absorption was carried out by experiment and analysis. It appears that at the low frequencies, the random incident absorption is higher than the normal one, whileas at the high frequencies, the random incident absorption is decreased due to the effect of grazing incident components.

  • A cross-flow fan often generates discrete noise call blade passing frequency tones. Several methods have been investigated to reduce this BPF noise, where the random distribution of blades is the most promising one. A simple and effective algorithm to determine a random distribution of blades is proposed which considers fan. performance as well as noise characteristics. The proposed method is verified by a simple numerical model and is applied in manufacturing cross-flow fan samples. Also some experiments are carried out and the experimental results are analyzed.

  • Industrial structure systems may have nonlinearity, and are also sometimes exposed to the danger of random excitation. This paper proposes a method to analyze response and reliability design of a complex nonlinear structure system under random excitation. The nonlinear structure system which is subjected to random process is modeled by finite element method. The nonlinear equations are expanded sequentially using the perturbation theory. Then, the perturbed equations are solved in probabilistic methods. Several statistical properties of random process that are of interest in random vibration applications are reviewed in accordance with the nonlinear stochastic problem.

  • Interaction between system and disturbance results in system with time-dependent parameter. Parameter variation due to interaction has random characteristics. Most of the randomly varying parameters in control problem is regarded as white noise random process, which is not a realistic model. In real situation those random variation is colored noise random process. Modified F-P-K equation is proposed to get the response of the random parametric system using some correction factor. Proposed technique is employed to obtain the colored noise parametric system response and confirmed via Monte-Carlo Simulation.

  • The impulse between launch vehicle and atmosphere can generate a lot of noise and vibration during the process of launching a satellite. Structurally, electronic equipment (KOMPSAT 2, RDU : Remote Drive Unit) of a satellite consists of aluminum case containing PCB (Printed circuit boards). Each PCB has resistors and IC (Integrated circuits). Noise and vibration of wide frequency band are transferred to the inside of fairing, subsequently creating vibration of the electronic equipment of the satellite. In this situation. random vibration can cause malfunctioning of the electronic equipment of the device. Furthermore, when tile frequency of random vibration meets with natural frequency of PCB. fatigue fracture nay occur in the part of solder joint. The launching environment, thus. needs to be carefully considered when designing the electronic equipment of a satellite. In general. the safety of the electronic equipment is supposed to be related to the natural frequency, shapes of mode and dynamic deflection of PCB in the electronic equipment. Structural vibration analysis of PCB and its electronic components can be performed using either FEM(Finite Element Method) or vibration test. In this study. the natural frequency and dynamic deflection of PCB are measured by FEM, aud the safety of the electronic components of PCB is being evaluated according to the results. This study presents a unique method for finite element modeling and analysis of PCB and its electronic components. The results of FEA are verified by vibration test. The method proposed herein may be applicable to various designs from the electronic equipments of a satellite to home electronics.
