The Proportional Likelihood Ratio Order for Lindley Distribution

  • The proportional likelihood ratio order is an extension of the likelihood ratio order for the non-negative absolutely continuous random variables. In addition, the Lindley distribution has been over looked as a mixture of two exponential distributions due to the popularity of the exponential distribution. In this paper, we first recalled the above concepts and then obtained various properties of the Lindley distribution due to the proportional likelihood ratio order. These results are more general than the likelihood ratio ordering aspects related to this distribution. Finally, we discussed the proportional likelihood ratio ordering in view of the weighted version of the Lindley distribution.

  • Multi-item inventory problems can be well characterized by the nature of interaction of the quantities and timing. This interaction may be due to the effect of certain combination of orders. It is that the set-up cost of ordering individual items can be saved by jointly ordering at a time. This study finds a decision criteria of optimum inventory policy through the comparisons of individual multi-item order policy(IMP), joint multi-item order policy(JMP), augmented multi-item order policy(AMP) in cost ratio. Subsequently we assume that there exists a unique optimum order level corresponding to an optimum reorder range for the augmented multi-item order, at which a cost saying is maximum.

  • Mixed Model Assembly Lines (MMALs) are increasingly used to produce differentiated products on a single assembly line without work-in-process storage, Usually, a typical MMAL consists of a number of (1) stations doing exactly the same operation on every job, (2) stations involving operations with different choices, and (3) stations offering operations that are not performed on every job, or that are performed on every job but with many options. For stations of the first type there is no sequencing problem at all. However, for the second type a set-up cost is incurred each time the operation switches from one choice to another. At the third type of stations, different models, requring different amounts and choices of assembly work, creates an uneven flow of work along the line and variations in the work load at these stations. When a subsequence of jobs requires more work load than the station can handle, it is necessary to help the operations at the station or to complete the work elsewhere. Therefore, a schedule which minimize the sum of set-up cost and utility work cost is desired. So this study has developed Fixed Random Ordering Rule (FROR), Fixed Ascending Ordering Rule (FAOR), Fixed Descending Ordering Rule, and Extended NHR (ENHR). ENHR is to choose optimal color ordering of each batch with NHR, and to decide job sequence of the batch with it, too. As the result of experiments, ENHR was the best heuristic algorithm. NHR is a new heuristic rule in which only the minimum addition of violations from both partial sequence and unassigned sequence at every branch could be considered. And this is a heuristic sequencing rule for the third type of stations at MMAL. This study developed one more heuristic algorithm to test the performance of NHR, which is named as Practical Heuristic Rule (PHR).

Transient Coordinator: a Collision Resolution Algorithm for Asynchronous MAC Protocols in Wireless Sensor Networks

  • Wireless sensor networks (WSN) often employ asynchronous MAC scheduling, which allows each sensor node to wake up independently without synchronizing with its neighbor nodes. However, this asynchronous scheduling may not deal with collisions due to hidden terminals effectively. Although most of the existing asynchronous protocols exploit a random back-off technique to resolve collisions, the random back-off cannot secure a receiver from potentially repetitive collisions and may lead to a substantial increase in the packet latency. In this paper, we propose a new collision resolution algorithm called Transient Coordinator (TC) for asynchronous WSN MAC protocols. TC resolves a collision on demand by ordering senders' transmissions when a receiver detects a collision. To coordinate the transmission sequence both the receiver and the collided senders perform handshaking to collect the information and to derive a collision-free transmission sequence, which enables each sender to exclusively access the channel. According to the simulation results, our scheme can improve the average per-node throughput by up to 19.4% while it also reduces unnecessary energy consumption due to repetitive collisions by as much as 91.1% compared to the conventional asynchronous MAC protocols. This demonstrates that TC is more efficient in terms of performance, resource utilization, and energy compared to the random back-off scheme in dealing with collisions for asynchronous WSN MAC scheduling.

  • Let X and Y be random vectors in R$^{n}$ . A random vector X is 'more associated' than Y if and only if P(X $\in$ A ∩ B) - P(X $\in$ A)P(X $\in$ B) $\geq$ P(Y $\in$ A ∩ B)-P(Y $\in$ A)P(Y $\in$ B) for all open upper sets A and B. By requiring the above inequality to hold for some open upper sets A and B various notions of positive dependence orderings which are weaker than 'more associated' ordering are obtained. First a general theory is given and then the results are specialized to some concepts of a particular interest. Various properties and interrelationships are derived.

Experimental Optimal Choice Of Initial Candidate Inliers Of The Feature Pairs With Well-Ordering Property For The Sample Consensus Method In The Stitching Of Drone-based Aerial Images

  • There are several types of image registration in the sense of stitching separated images that overlap each other. One of these is feature-based registration by a common feature descriptor. In this study, we generate a mosaic of images using feature-based registration for drone aerial images. As a feature descriptor, we apply the scale-invariant feature transform descriptor. In order to investigate the authenticity of the feature points and to have the mapping function, we employ the sample consensus method; we consider the sensed image's inherent characteristic such as the geometric congruence between the feature points of the images to propose a novel hypothesis estimation of the mapping function of the stitching via some optimally chosen initial candidate inliers in the sample consensus method. Based on the experimental results, we show the efficiency of the proposed method compared with benchmark methodologies of random sampling consensus method (RANSAC); the well-ordering property defined in the context and the extensive stitching examples have supported the utility. Moreover, the sample consensus scheme proposed in this study is uncomplicated and robust, and some fatal miss stitching by RANSAC is remarkably reduced in the measure of the pixel difference.

건설현장보고 전자문서 일원화에 관한 연구 (A Study about Electronic Document Unification for Construction Job-site Report)

  • 건설사업 수행 과정에서 발주청과 시공사, 감리단 등의 현장 업무담당자간에 공사현황, 공정보고 등 각종 현장보고자료가 교환된다. 이들 현장보고자료는 표준화가 되어 있지 않아 발주청이 요구하는 양식이 매번 다르거나 현장 업무담당자가 임의적으로 양식을 만들어 자료를 작성하고 FAX, e-mail, 종이문서 등 서로 다른 매체로 보고하고 있다. 이 때문에 현장 업무담당자는 동일한 정보를 발주청이 요구하는 양식에 맞춰 재작성하는 경우가 많고 발주청은 현장별로 보고된 자료를 수작업으로 취합하여 집계함에 따른 과중한 업무의 원인이 되고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 월간공정보고와 공사현황보고를 대상으로 전자문서 일원화 체계를 마련하였다. 아울러 기존에 운영 중인 건설사업 관리시스템에 전자문서 일원화에 따라 현장보고업무를 전자 처리할 수 있는 기능을 개발하였으며 개발된 시스템의 현장 적용성 검증을 위해 도로건설현장을 대상으로 시범 적용과 설문조사를 실시하였다. 본 연구 결과를 현업에 적용할 경우에 현장보고 업무의 효율화 ${\cdot}$ 간소화를 높일 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

디클러스터된 공간 데이터베이스에서 다중 질의의 병렬 처리 (Parallel Processing of Multiple Queries in a Declustered Spatial Database)

  • 다중 공간 질의는 동시에 2개 이상 수행되는 영역 질의로 정의되며 인터넷 기반 지도 보기 응용의 주요 연산이 되므로, 질의 처리 속도의 개선을 위해서 병렬로 처리되어야 하고 질의 처리 비용 중 큰 비중을 차지하는 디스크 입출력 시간을 최대한 줄일 필요가 있다. 그런데 다중 CPU/다중 디스크 구조상에서 디클러스터링을 수행하더라고, 다중 공간 질의를 처리하는 도중 질의 간 임의 탐색이 발생하여 디스크 입출력 시간이 증가하는 문제점이 있다. 이 논문에서는 디클러스터된 공간 데이터베이스에서 다중 공간 질의를 처리할 때 발생하는 문제점인 질의 간 임의 탐색을 분석하고, 해결 방안으로 질의 스케줄링 기법을 제시하였다. 질의 스케줄링 기법은 질의 간 관련성을 이용해서 질의 우선 순위를 조정해서 질의 간 임의 탐색을 해결하는 방법으로써, 질의간의 공간 및 시간 관련성 부여를 위해 질의 간 위치 관련성과 질의 대기 시간을 이용하였다. 실험 결과, 질의 스케줄링을 수행하면 디스크 캐쉬의 적중률이 최대 34% 향상되어 디스크 입출력 비용을 최대 6%까지 줄일 수 있어 다중 공간 질의 처리 시의 성능을 개선할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

최적재고정책(最適在庫政策)을 위한 컴퓨터 시물레이숀 모델 (An application of the Computer Simulation Model for Stochastic Inventory System)

  • This paper deals with a computer simulation for the stochastic inventory system in which the decision rules are associated with the problem of forecasting uncertain demand, lead time, and amount of shortages. The model consists of mainly three parts; part I$\cdots$the model calculates the expected demand during lead time through the built-in subrou tine program for random number generator and the probability distribution of the demand, part II$\cdots$the model calculates all the possible expected shortages per lead time period, part III$\cdots$finally the model calculates all the possible total inventory cost over the simulation period. These total inventory costs are compared for searching the optimal inventory cost with the best ordering quantity and reorder point. An application example of the simulation program is given.

  • Xerographic properties of double-layer photoconductor doped with 4-butyl-4'-methoxyazobenzene (BMAB) as charge-carrier transport material were investigated. BMAB can undergo reversible trans-cis isomerization by light with appropriate wavelength. In the results of measured surface voltage properties for photoconductor doped with BMAB, TNF: BMAB(4-wt%) sample with trans form showed the lowest dark decay, the lowest residual voltage, and the highest sensitivity among cis form. The trans isomer of BMAB has ordering orientation because the molecule possesses a rodlike shape, while the cis isomer has random orientation due to its bent shape. Therefore the molecular arrangement of trans form enhanced charge-carrier transport mobility.
