  • 본 논문에서는 UMTS(Universal Mobile Telecommunications System)의 규격에 명시된 SRCF(Square Root Raised Cosine Filter) 와 호환성을 가지면서, 우수한 성능과 구현이 간단한 필터를 설계 및 구현하는 방법에 대하여 소개한다. 또한, VHDL을 이용하여 ALTERA FPGA서 필터를 직접 구현하는 결과를 보이고 있다.

Performance Analysis of Symbol Timing Recovery for 16QAM System in Rayleigh Fading (레일리 페이딩 환경에서 16QAM 시스템에서 심볼 타이밍 복원의 성능분석)

  • In this paper, we analyzed performance of a symbol timing recovery scheme for 16QAM Radio system. As a symbol timing recovery scheme, both maximum amplitude method(MAM) and wave difference method(WDM) are analyzed employing a pulse shaping filter, such as raised cosine filter(RCF) and nonlinear filter(NLF). Simulation result shows that the jitter performance of MAM or WDM using NLF is better than that using square root RCF. In order to estimate and compensate for the Rayleigh fading PSAM(Pilot Symbol Assisted Modulation) and space diversity are also employed. Consequently, BER performance of about $10^{-4}$ is obtained for $E_b/N_o$= 20 dB.

  • When the current optical communication system is used for the DWDM, it raise the serious interference because an interval between the adjacent channels is narrow. The FBG filter for the DWDM is able to reduce the interferences between the adjacent channels. In this paper, therefore, we find the reflection spectrums for the three types of induced index changes, that is, uniform, Gaussian apodized, and raised-cosine apodized. From the obtained results in this paper, we can see that uniform FBG does not fit, and that the smaller the maximum induced index change ${\sigma}$ is and the larger the value of parameter C in the raised-cosine apodized FBG and G in the Gaussian apodized FBG are, the fitter they are on the narrow filter for DWDM. But, we can also see that the raised-cosine apodized FBG has more excellent property than the Gaussian apodized FBG because it has the narrower maximum reflection spectrum band and the lower sidelobes than the other.

Intersymbol interference due to sampling-time jitter and its approximations in a raised cosing filtered system

  • This paper studies the effect of intersymbol interference due to sampling-time jitter on the worst-case bit error probability in a digital modultation over an additive white Gaussian noise channel, with the squared-root raised-cosine filters in the transmitter and the receiver. It derives approximation formulas using the Taylor series approximations. the principal results of this paper is the relationship between the worst-casse bit error probability, the degree of jitter, the roll factor of the raised cosine filter, and other quantities. Numerical results show, as expected, that the intersymbol interference decreases as the roll-off factor increases and the jitter decreases. They also show that the approximation formulas are accurate for smally intersymbol interference, i.e., for large roll-noise ratio $E_{b/}$ $N_{0}$.leq.7 dB and begin to lose accuracy for larger signal-to-noise ratio.o.o.

  • In this paper we propose and analyze a novel modulation and pre-equalization method to minimize signal processing time delay for the Equalization Digital On-Channel Repeater (EDOCR) in ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) terrestrial digital TV system. The proposed modulation method uses Equi-Ripple (ER) filter coefficients instead of conventional Square Root Raised Cosine (SRRC) after coefficients for VSB (Vestigial Side Bands) pulse shaping. And the proposed pre-equalization method calculates pre-equalizer filter coefficients by using baseband signal as reference signal and demodulated repeater output signal, then generates a new VSB pulse shaping filter coefficients by convolutioning ER filter coefficients and pre-equalizer filter coefficients. The newly generated pulse shaping filter does not have minimized time delay by adjusting the number of pre-taps of the filter, but also compensates linear distortions caused by ER filter and mask filter.

OQ2PSK Modulation with Overlapped Raised-Cosine Pulse Shaping (중첩 상승여현 펄스 정형 OQ2PSK 변조)

  • The transmitter of quadrature multiplexed GMSK (QM-GMSK) is composed of two quadrature multiplexed GMSK modulators. QM-GMSK has a slightly increased spectrum main lobe compared with $Q^2PSK$ or QMSK, but it has highly suppressed side lobes. As a result, practical spectrum efficiency of QM-GMSK is achieved. By replacing the baseband elementary pulses of QM-GMSK with their approximate, the squared sinusoid of half-period, offset-$Q^2PSK$($OQ^2PSK$) is obtained. The $OQ^2PSK$ signal has similar spectral properties to QM-GMSK. The transmitter of $OQ^2PSK$ can be simply implemented without the Gaussian lowpass filter, which is required in QM-GMSK transmitter. In this paper, we propose an overlapped pulse shaping in $OQ^2PSK$ with RC(raised-cosine) or SRC(squared raised-cosine) pulses of length longer than the symbol period. Power spectrum of the proposed modulation scheme exhibits further suppressed side lobes, hence enhanced spectrum efficiency is obtained. Simulation results indicate that BER performance of the proposed scheme is comparable to that of $OQ^2PSK$.

  • 본 논문에서는 DSP(Digital Signal Processor)를 이용해 INMARSAT-M 위성통신용 단말기 중의 변ㆍ복조부를 설계하였다. R-RC(ROOt Raised Cosine) 필터에 의해 대역제한된 OQPSK 파형의 발생과 디지털 정합필터(Matched filter)를 이용한 OQPSK 복조, 부호율 1/2이고 구속장이 7인 길쌈부호기 및 클록 복구(Clock recovery)의 구현 알고리즘을 C언어와 어셈블리어로 작성하고, 모뎀을 실제 제작하여 변조기능, 복조기능으로 나누어서 동작 특성을 살펴보았다.

  • In this paper M-ary Psk system for digital land mobile radio utilized the raised-cosine filter instead of LPF with rectangular frequency characteristic as luniting channel bandwidth are implemented to measure their performance and effect of ISI and jitter. Also the error probability is calcylated on the condition of fast Rayleihg fading, cochannel interference and AWGN, It is found that QPSK and 8-PSK system with 2-branch diversity, can be improved by 3 or 5 time of spectral effciency respectively, comparinng with one of the non diversity QPSK and 8.PSK system.

  • The line code for ISDN subscriber loops is a critical choice in designing U-interface transceiver, since it affects system performance in a crucial way. This paper provides the performance analysis of U-interface transceiver systems employing four different line codes AMI, MMS43, VMDB5, and 2B1Q. The codes are compared using computer simulation studies, and three performance parameters of the four codes such as power spectrum, eye width, and error probability are used for the comparison. The simulation model consists of the encoder, transmit filter (root-raised cosine filter), channel, receive filter, zero-forcing equalizer, sampler, and decoder. The near-end crosstalk and addive white gaussian noise are considered as teh principal impediments.

  • In this paper, we propose the receiver algorithms suitable for the VHF (Very High Frequency) digital link mode-2(VDL Mode-2) system. Unlike conventional digital communication systems using the root raised cosine filter as a transmit and receive filter, raised cosine filter is used as a transmit filter in the VDL Mode-2 system. Hence, it is crucial to design and implement the optimum lowpass receive filter by considering inter-symbol interference and noise performance. On the other hand, due to the short preamble pattern, it is crucial to develop an efficient packet detection algorithm for reliable communication link for the VDL Mode-2 system. Also, frequency offset due to the carrier frequency difference between transmitter and receiver and doppler frequency shift must be estimated and compensated for reliable communication. In this paper, the optimum receive filter, packet detection and frequency offset compensation algorithms are proposed and the performance of the VDL system employing the proposed algorithms are evaluated.
