A Study on Electric Power Supply Analysis of Urban MAGLEV Vehicle (도시형 자기부상열차의 전력특성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • The main purpose of this study is to analysis of urban MAGLEV vehicle for the Incheon International Airport Maglev railway, in the process of construction at the moment, in Korea. For analysis of urban MAGLEV, we have measurement power a special quality of MAGLEV operating the center science museum in Deajeon. 1) The power property related to urban MAGLEV vehicle demand on the Incheon International Airport Maglev railway track and substation capacity compared to the result given. 2) The optimum design of substation is determined based on the analysis. 3) The equipments of substation are determined based on the analysis. The result of measurement performance, therefore, enables us to reflect the good property, to the power supply design. The result of research performance, therefore, enables us to reflect the Power Supply System design for the stabilized and economized MAGLEV operation.

  • This paper proposes the track layout criterion for the LRT(light rail transit). All criterions established concerning dimension and performance of LRT vehicles that are three types. Types of vehices are AGT(automated guided train) steel wheel. AGT rubber tire and LIM(linear induction motor). Using theoritical approach, adaptation and validity of criterions are verified. Proposed criterions may provide a standard scheme for design and construction of the infrastructure on LRT.

  • This study shows organizational designs to increase the coordination between infrastructure and rolling stock operation organizations after rail reform based on wheel/rail interface and train/track interaction. Information sharing, face-to-face meeting, liaison role, task force, manager responsible for coordination, and team organization could help to coordinate infrastructure construction plan and train operation plan. It is necessary for the organizations to begin to study the interaction between track and train in Korean environments to make the coordination more efficient.

  • Dynamic instability of the railway bridge can cause track irregularities and be directly connected with unstable passenger comfort and derailment of the train. Europe and Japan had studied on this problem for a long time since 1960's, Results of those studies are reflected in recent Eurocode and the bridge design code of Japanese railway bridges. However, even though some traffic safety requirements were applied in Kyoung-bu highspeed railway by French engineers, we experienced many difficulties from insufficient information of criteria background and application procedures. In this paper, a investigation of recent traffic safety requirements of Europe and Japan for railway bridges will be introduced and application procedures for the estimation of dynamic performance will be proposed.

  • The vertical slope of railway track is the differences of attitude for the horizontal distances between two positions of railway. It is better to be small vertical slope for the comfortable of passengers and the operation of railway system. However, the variable vertical slope is required that the simple vertical slope causes the huge quantities of embankment and cutting, the continuous welded rail tunnels, the continuous welded rail bridges, etc,. This research is for the relation between the vertical slopes and the trainset performances. This research shows that the effective vertical slopes for the operation of railway. The velocity of car and operation time and the consumed energy was considered for each vertical slope and type of car power system. The result of suitable vertical slope from this research is to be used for the design of railway plan.

  • Recently the construction of railway sections passing the central area of cities and stations under railway lines are increasing, and then it is urgently required to take the countermeasures against the railway vibration and the second-phase noise radiated from it. The most efficient countermeasure, out of technologies developed up to now, is the floating slab track which is the track system isolated from the sub-structure by springs. In other countries, the source technologies for anti-vibration design and vibration isolator - one of key components - have been developed and many installation experiences have been accumulated. However, in Korea, since the system design technology and technologies for key components are not yet developed, the foreign system are being introduced without any adjustment, and the key component, vibration isolator, depends on imports. In this study, based on the results of previous studies of the dust-control device installation using the slab and go through time after lifting impressive when stepped on power generated by the cross-section of the slab and shear connection re-examined the structural stability.

  • An active application of concrete track is being expected for the future constructions of Korea railroad. For the successful construction and design in embankment section, the roadbed behavior should be reasonably estimated using the proper analysis method. In this research, behaviors of reinforced roadbed constructed with the determined stiffness and thickness at embankment section were estimated through various design parameters and numerical analysis. A three dimensional finite element method was employed to determine the proper reinforced roadbed thickness at embankment section. The displacement and vertical stress caused by train loading were estimated and compared with the field test results. The bearing characteristics of concrete track roadbed were presented. Moreover, the method to determine thickness of reinforced roadbed was proposed.

Modeling of Train Radio Propagation Affected by Ground Reflected Wave in High-speed Railway (고속철도 지면반사파를 고려한 열차무선 전파모델)

  • Radio propagation in a high-speed railway is affected by ground reflective waves that are due to irregular reflection by the railway track, which consists of rails, sleepers, and gravel. This paper provides a train radio propagation model that simulates an irregular track reflective wave as a random variable. A simulation study using the train radio propagation model shows that the path loss exponent is around 3.0, indicating a reduced path loss compared to the value of 4.0 in the general mobile radio environment. Regressive analysis of the received signal strength indicators measured in the Gyeongbu high-speed railway showed the results identical to those of the simulation. These results confirm the train radio propagation model and can be applied to the coverage estimation and the design of a train radio network.

Design of LQR controller for active suspension system of Partially Filled Tank Cars

  • Increasing usage of tank cars and their intrinsic instability due to sloshing of contents have caused growing maintenance costs as well as more frequent hazards and defects like derailment and fatigue of bogies and axels. Therefore, varieties of passive solutions have been represented to improve dynamical parameters. In this task, assuming 22 degrees of freedom, dynamic analysis of partially filled tank car traveling on a curved track is investigated. In order to consider stochastic geometry of track; irregularities have been derived randomly by Mont Carlo method. More over the fluid tank model with 1 degree of freedom is also presented by equivalent mechanical approach in terms of pendulum. An active suspension system for described car is designed by using linear quadratic optimal control theory to decrease destructive effects of fluid sloshing. Eventually, the performance of the active suspension system has been compared with that of the passive one and a study is carried out on how active suspension may affect the dynamical parameters such as displacements and Nadal's derailment index.

  • Pollutants emitted by Diesel trains seriously affected on the ventilation characteristics in the subway or railway tunnel network systems. Thus, numerical prediction results and analyses are required to engineers who should design ventilation facilities. So here, this paper presents some numerical results about the ventilation characteristics, such as pollutants distributions and a suitability of the ventilation facilities pre-designed in case that diesel trains use the same railway track with normal passenger trains
