  • The development of train control system shall operate a series of processes like system designing, system production and system performance evaluation as a result of various requirements analysis presented in operation rules, operating guidelines for railway organizations etc, notified by the nation. Therefore, considering operation conditions, operation plan, linkage to railway network etc, the major document like system functional specifications, system development specifications, system test plans etc must be drawn up. In this paper we classify system operating scenarios required to prepare for system standard specification and system performance evaluation report of CBTC system for urban subways supporting unmanned automatic operation, and adjust each of the operating status.

  • The automatic/driverless operation which are great important techniques in metro railway are required to increase higher safety, greater reliability, and transport capacity. To satisfy such demands, we must have the system design and testing technique for the railway system operation. These techniques are related to the onboard train control and communication systems which include TCMS(Train Control and Monitoring System), ATO(Automatic train Operation), ATC(Automatic train Control), and TWC(Train to wayside communication). These sub-systems must be interfacing with not only each others but also the signal system on the ground. We tested the train control system on the 7 line that has been developed on the basis of the standardized type EMU for korea railway systems.

  • Drainage system in railroad has a very important role to operate the system. Drainage system should be carefully considered in design and construction due to a difficult access to the system during operation. 철도의 형성과 발전을 중심으로 본 심양의 근대도시 발전과정에 관한 연구(1898~1945) (A Study on Modern City Development of Shenyang in terms of Formation and Development of Railway Network(1895~1945))

  • Shenyang was one of the representative transportation hub of Northeast China during the modern period. The formation and development of the railway network gave great influence on Shenyang's city development. In order to understand the relationship between railway and city development, first, we classified Shenyang's city development period by the railway network's formation and expansion process. Then, we analyzed the relationship between railway and city space by five categories. The results of this study are as follows. First, before railway was constructed, Shenyang was a castle city, which also was the economic center of Northeast China. This was the main reason Shenyang was chosen as a railway zone. During the modern period, the castle structure became an obstacle to city transportation and environment, therefore, it was disposed. During the period of railways' expansion, South Manchuria, Jingfeng and Shenhai railway line was constructed in Shenyang. Since each line had different operation organizations, city sites along the railways were planned separately. However, these operation organizations had one common purpose, which was to use railway as an accelerator for economic development. During the period of railway's military usage, railway was reorganized as military supply transport for the Japanese, which also was used as a tool for the expansion of colonialism. Second, after Shenyang's city space was reconstructed along the railway, it created a close connection with city structure, city facilities, landscape and city transportation system. Hence, the railway system played a key role in modern city planning.

고속선구에 광역교통서비스 제공을 위한 고속철도와 급행전철 혼용운용 고찰 (Considering combined operation method with the wide area rapid-transit and high speed-transit for wide area traffic service offer at high speed track section)

  • 신도시 개발 등으로 대도시의 생활권이 확대됨에 따라 수도권 교통의 광역화가 지속적으로 진행되고 있어 대도시권내의 광역교통문제해소 및 혼잡비용 최소화를 위한 체계적이고 지속 가능한 장기 마스터플랜 구상이 필요하게 되었다. 이에 따라, 최근 경기도에서는 동탄 신도시와 서울 강남을 20분대에 연결할 수 있는 대심도 급행전철 사업을 구상하였다. 국토부에서는 경부고속철도 2단계와 호남고속철도 완공에 따른 선로용량 부족해소와 수도권 및 경기 남부 지역 주민들에게 고속철도 서비스제공을 위한 강남권 고속철도 노선(수서${\sim}$동탄${\sim}$평택) 건설이 필요한 것으로 "수도권 철도망 개선방안 연구용역(2007.12)" 결과를 발표하였다. 경기도에서 추진 중인 광역급행전철과 강남권 고속철도 노선이 중복됨에 따라 국토의 이용 효율성 향상과 국가재정의 효율적 투자를 위해 고속철도의 선로 여유용량을 활용한 광역급행전철 혼용에 대한 검토가 필요할 것으로 판단된다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 고속철도와 광역급행전철을 혼용 운행할 경우 노반분야 및 E & M 기술조건, 중간역 계획, 열차운영계획 등의 분석을 통해 최적화된 혼용운영 방안과 사업비 절감효과 등을 제시함으로써 동일선로에서 이종의 열차가 운행됨에 따른 철도사업의 투자효율성 제고 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

A Feasibility Study on TETRA System Application for Train Control Systems

  • TETRA communication system is very versatile system which can transmit voice + data and packet data optimized. Direct mode operation permits to connect between mobiles when mobile stain is out of coverage of networks. It can be more secure communication channel for railway signaling systems. Railway signaling systems use many of wayside signal equipment, which require many maintenance efforts and budget. Many railway authorities want to reduce and replace the wayside equipment. Radio based signaling systems are one of candidate for replacing the conventional signaling systems. The radio based signaling systems can replace track circuit and wayside signal. The radio systems permit to connect between control centers and trains. The radio systems have to ensure high quality of the connectivity more or equal to the existed track circuits. We studied the application of TETRA systems for railway radio systems for bridging between train control centers and trains. We provide an operation scenario for radio based train control system to ensure the safety require to the existed trains control system and satisfied the existed operational availability. We showed the data transmission speed, maximum bit error rate, and data coding for the radio-based signal system using TETRA systems.

Calibration of Timetable Parameters for Rail-Guided Systems

  • In order to achieve a comprehensive utilization of railway networks, it is necessary to accurately assess the timetable indicators that effect the train operation. This paper describes the parameter calibration for two timetable indicators: scheduled running time and scheduled dwell time. For the scheduled running time, an existing model is employed and the single timetable parameter (percentage of minimum running time) in that model is optimized. For the scheduled dwell time, two intrinsic characteristics: the significance of stations and the average headway at each station are proposed firstly to form a new model, and the corresponding timetable parameters (the weight of the significance and the weight of the average headway) are calibrated subsequently. The Floyd Algorithm is used to obtain the connectivity among stations, which represents the significance of the stations. A case study is conducted in a light rail transportation system with 17 underground stations. The results of this research show that the optimal value of the scheduled running time parameter can be automatically determined, and the proposed model for the scheduled dwell time works well with a high coefficient of determination and low relative root mean square error through the leave-one-out validation.

  • 무선 통신 기술 발전을 통하여 철도환경에서 안정적인 무선 접속과 다양한 통신 기능 제공이 가능함에 따라 철도서비스 고도화의 기반이 마련되었다. 특히, 최근의 무선 통신 기술은 향상된 철도 승객서비스뿐만 아니라 효율적이고 안전한 철도 운영을 가능하게 한다. LTE 기반의 무선통신 기술은 다양한 경제적 혜택과 높은 통신 성능을 철도 산업에 제공 가능함에 따라 세계적으로 차세대 철도 통신 시스템의 후보 기술로 각광받고 있다. 그러나 철도 통신은 열차의 안전한 운행을 위하여 매우 엄격한 철도 통신만의 요구 사항도 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 미래의 철도 통신이 반드시 갖추어야 할 요구사항과 기능을 설명한다. 또한 LTE 무선 통신 기술이 철도 분야의 통신 요구사항을 만족하는지에 대해서도 서술한다. 마지막으로 최근 진행되고 있는 차세대 철도 통합무선망의 국내외 표준화 동향과 구축일정에 대하여 설명한다.
