Among many open libraries under the rule of the Japanese imperialism, only the railroad library as the character of special library under the control of the Japanese Government General is remarkable for having opened its facilities to outsiders as well as the interior users. This study tries a) To look into what were the colonial background, aim and motive of the establishment of the railroad library under the Japanese rule, b) To analyze its activities and the change of its organization, c) And to find out its vestiges an the effects which it has on our country's library circles. The following are the result: A. The railroad library under the rule of the Japanese imperialism functioned as a public library by the outside book's circulation rather than the interior using. B. The outsiders were qualified to use it only when they got the joint guarantee for the city resident, which means that the o n.0, pportunity of the circulation was not free for the Koreans rather than the Japanese. C. From the aspect of collections, technical books such as natural science, and reference ones tended to be collected, and their whole composition was focused on the materials for the Japan-Korea identification scheme and development of the national spirit as the Japanese empire's subjects. D. In the respect of its organization, all the clerical employees, as well as the chief librarian were composed of the Japanese. Although the Koreans were in principle prohibited from working there, a few of them were employed as guard or servant as the China-Japan War was close to the end. E. The area of the outside book's, circulation service was expanded throughout the whole region along the railroad connecting Pusan with Manchuria. Such a service activity which contained several meanings, was tried by means of culture's books, circuit's books, train's books, hotel's books, mind's development books and reader's reading books etc. F. Such matters as the limitation on book circulating and the quantity of circulation book, the paid circulation and the partial restriction on free circulation mean the wartime system under the rule of the Japanese imperialism and also a n.0, ppeared as a factor of hampering the Koreans from getting accustomed to using library, which has affected them until now. G. The noticeable thing in the service activity is shown in attempting the diversified and positive way of service like free circulation in order to solidify the attitude of the Koreans toward war by organizing mind's development books as well as culture's books with the China-Japan War. H. On the other hand, it can not be passed over that the diversified service activity of the railroad library played a role of bridge in turning of today's library circles of ours to the modernization.

For higher efficiency and reliability of railroad trains with many electronic sensors and actuators, a distributed control system with which electronic components communicate with each other in a distributed manner via a data network is considered. This paper considers Ethernet-based Train Communication Network (TCN) for this purpose and proposes a methodology to optimize the topology in terms of transmission latency and reliability, each of which is modeled as the number of traversing backbone nodes and the number of cables between vehicles, respectively. An objective function is derived accordingly and a closed-form optimum is obtained by relaxing the integer constraint of the number of vehicles for a unit network. Then, the final integer optimum is searched around it. Through numerical evaluation, the validity of the proposed methodology and the characteristics of the resulting solutions are shown.

In Korea, the railway history has more than 100 years and the KTX(Korean Express Railway) was launched on April 1, 2004. Nevertheless, the safety management of the railway has not been emphasized. Thus this paper proposed the novel frame of the railway safety management system which can secure the railway safety and administer the railway accidents via Management Systems from domestic to international. Secondly, we developed the prototype Management System for the railway accident based on GIS(Geographic Information System) by introducing the concept of "location". This Management System has two parts: space and attribute. Also it provides the map for emergency actions.

In wireless communication, the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system is a well-known approach to improve the reliability as well as the data rate. In MIMO systems, channel state information (CSI) is typically required at the receiver to detect transmitted signals; however, in practical systems, the CSI is imperfect and contains errors, which affect the overall system performance. In this paper, we propose a novel maximum likelihood (ML) scheme for MIMO systems that is robust to the CSI errors. We apply an optimization method to estimate an instantaneous covariance matrix of the CSI errors in order to improve the detection performance. Furthermore, we propose the employment of the list sphere decoding (LSD) scheme to reduce the computational complexity, which is capable of efficiently finding a reduced set of the candidate symbol vectors for the computation of the covariance matrix of the CSI errors. An iterative detection scheme is also proposed to further improve the detection performance.

In this paper, we propose the design of railway safety common data model to provide common transformation method for collecting data from railway facility fields to Real-time railway safety monitoring and control system. This common data model is divided into five abstract sub-models according to the characteristics of data such as 'StateInfoMessage', 'ControlMessage', 'RequestMessage', 'ResponseMessage' and 'ExtendedXXXMessage'. This kind of model structure allows diverse heterogeneous data acquisitions and its common conversion method to DDS (Data Distribution Service) format to share data to the sub-systems of Real-time railway safety monitoring and control system. This paper contains the design of common data model and its DDS Topic expression for DDS communication, and presents two kinds of data transformation case studied for verification of the model design.

Cargo tracking issue on train transportation is challenging area because of long distance haulage, theft, terror attack and customer service. This paper aims at evaluating various cargo tracking systems in terms of cost and technology. The contents of this paper consist of the research trend of cargo tracking system in the railroad transportation and reviewing of technical alternatives in cost and service side. GNSS and RFID are reviewed as location tracking technology, Internet and Satellite technology like INMASAT and Low Earth Orbit are also reviewed as communication infrastructure. This paper selects cost and service factors in two alternatives of GNSS-Satellite and RFID-Internet, among GNSS-Internet, GNSS, Satellite, RFID-Internet, RFID-Satellite and evaluate each alternative in terms of cost and service. In a result, in terms of cost, RFID-Internet type is superior to GNSS-Satellite type, but in service GNSS-Satellite type is preferred to RFID-Internet in point of area coverage and service coverage.

Belief revision involves integrating new information with the current belief. It is a ubiquitous human activity. A critical feature of belief revision lies in its sequential nature. Railroad system can be described as organic. Engine drivers take a great role in this system. Recently, Hogarth and Einhorn(1992) have posited a belief-adjustment model for updating beliefs. Based on a sequential anchoring and adjustment strategy, the model is important for decision makers. The sequential nature of information processing is affected by some task variables. The purpose of this study is to examin factors which influnce on the Enginr Driver's belief revision process. The factors are the order, experience and task. The difference of belief revision is due to the order and experience level.

This paper presents numerical analysis and design of high power contactless transformer with a large air-gap for moving on a guided linear track which is appropriate for high-speed train or MAGLEV. The system has the typical characteristics of large leakage inductance, small magnetizing inductance, and low coupling coefficients giving rise to lower power transfer efficiency, which have been compensated by the purposely-designed contactless transformer coupled with the resonant converter modulating with high switching frequency. In particular, the best model selected from the generated six design candidates has been applied for 3D Finite Element Analysis (FEA) investigating on iron loss to evaluate the overall system efficiency.

The Seoul-Metro is the first city railroad corporation to operate RIMS(Rolling-stock Information Maintenance System). The development of "RIMS Project" and trial running task were started from Mar 29, 2001. Finally, this project was completed successfully on Dec 31, 2005, as integrated systems including light or heavy maintenance works in Ji-Chuk and Chang-Dong Rolling-stock Offices. After that, from 2006 to Dec 31, 2007, we promoted a this new program to other four rolling-stock offices (Su-Seo, Gun-Ja, Sin-Jeong) and the headquarter. For the duration of trial running, we developed and applied new complementary program having made up for the weak points or defects. The series of new program which were newly developed and applied are comprised of an operation management, trouble management, wheel management, heavy maintenance table automatic creation programs and ordering prediction programs to purchase goods smoothly. The Seoul-Metro have registered these programs(RIMS) to Computer Program Protection Committee. We'd like to introduce a composition of program for enhancement of a city railroad Information Systems.

유비쿼터스 환경에서의 상황인식 서비스는 의료, 쇼핑, 교육, 소방, 문화 등 우리 사회 전 분야에 걸쳐 응용되고 있으며, 각 분야에 영향을 미치고 있다. 상황인식 서비스는 사용자의 상황정보를 정확하게 파악하여 신속한 서비스를 제공하는데 목적이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 사용자의 상황정보를 바탕으로 보다 효율적이고 정확한 서비스를 제공하고자 지능적인 추론방법인 사례기반추론방법을 제안한다. 사례기반추론은 과거의 경험이나 상황을 사례 데이터베이스로 구축하여 어떠한 상황이나 문제가 발생하면 기존의 사례 데이터베이스에서 가장 유사한 사례들과 비교 분석하여 현재에 처한 상황과 가장 유사한 상황을 검색하여 그에 따른 사용자가 원하는 정보를 제공한다. 즉 사용자의 상황정보를 바탕으로 검색된 유사한 사례들에 대한 유사도를 측정, 구함으로써 유사도가 높은 사례일수록 현재의 상황과 가장 유사한 상황으로 인식하여 그에 따른 해결책을 제시하여 사용자로 하여금 원하는 서비스를 제공받고자한다.
