Recent topics on quality assurance (QA) of X-ray diagnosis in Japan were reported in this presentation. These were related to mass screening mammography (MMG), lung screening CT (LSCT), skin injury caused by interventional radiology (IVR) and traceable system of dosimeters for x-ray diagnosis. In these successful stories, the author would like to stress the cooperation of all the medical am: clinical staff including medical doctors, radiological technologists, medical physicists, manufacturers of medical devices and others.

Recently, there has been a rapid increase of interest in u-Health systems or instruments. The importance of testbeds has been discussed deeply also. However, beyond laboratory or ward environments, testbeds covering metropolitan area cannot be found easily. Moreover, there has been few papers which discuss the results of testbed operations for various instruments in different age groups. In this paper, the results of testbed which operated in Daegu metropolitan area are discussed and improvement directions to strengthen the competitiveness are proposed using user analysis. In particular, the results of trial services using the u-Life support instruments (medication reminder, falling safety phone, bio-patch and shirts, etc) for super aging societies in the near future are discussed.

To keep the online medical records available to anyone without constraint of time and space, introducing EMR (Electronic medical record), which is a clinical support management system. The purpose of this study is to develop interface standard of clinical test device. Integration and sharing of medical information is faced with enormous obstacles because medical organizations and associated companies are separately developing the interface. I hope that multi-function management system with workstation concept is operated to efficiently transmit clinical device result data based on this study. Transfer of precise medical result data available for decision making will improve quality of health care service.

It is difficult to take intraoral radiographs in some patients who are intolerable to place the film in their mouth. For these patients, Newman and Friedman recommended a new technique of extraoral film placement. Here we report various cases that diagnostic imaging was performed in patients using the extraoral periapical technique. This technique was used to obtain the radiographs for the patients with severe gag reflex, pediatric dental patients, and patients with restricted mouth opening. This technique can be recommended as an alternative to conventional intraoral periapical technique in cases where intraoral film placement is difficult to achieve.

Hepatic toxocariasis is a type of visceral larva migrans caused by the migration of second-stage larvae of certain nematodes such as Toxocara canis to the liver. Histologically, the condition is characterized by granulomatous lesions containing eosinophils and inflammatory cells. We report a case of hepatic toxocariasis with atypical clinical and radiologic findings presenting as distinct, solitary hepatic nodule detected in a middle-aged woman.

Obesity which causing many physical and psychological problems is difficult to treatment. The purpose study was investigate relationships between weight, height, body mass index (BMI) and BMD of according to the low, normal, over, obesity, high group. According to obesity index, each group was divided into five proup. Study subjects were man(n=135) and woman(n=145). We checked the BMD of femoral neck and lumbar spine by using dual energy X-ray bone densitometry. Weight was positively correlation with height (p<0.05) by Pearson's correlation matrix. There was a significant difference in BMD of femoral neck and lumbar spine between four(low, normal, over, obesity) groups except for high obesity groul.

Although small bowel the mainly occupies the most part of the gastrointestinal tract, small intestine tumors are rare, insidious in clinical presentation, and frequently represent a diagnostic and management challenge. Small bowel tumors are generally classified as epithelial, mesenchymal, lymphoproliferative, or metastatic. Familial adenomatous polyposis and Peutz-Jeghers syndrome are the most common inherited intestinal polyposis syndromes. Until the advent of capsule endoscopy (CE) and device-assisted enteroscopy (DAE) coupled with the advances in radiology, physicians had limited diagnostic examination for small bowel examination. CE and new radiologic imaging techniques have made it easier to detect small bowel tumors. DAE allows more diagnosis and deeper reach in small intestine. CT enteroclysis/CT enterography (CTE) provides information about adjacent organs as well as pictures of the intestinal lumen side. Compared to CTE, Magnetic resonance enteroclysis/enterography provides the advantage of soft tissue contrast and multiplane imaging without radiation exposure. Treatment and prognosis are tailored to each histological subtype of tumors.

Cavernous hemangioma of the gallbladder is an extremely rare benign tumor. The tumor has only a few cases being reported in literature. However, to the best of our knowledge, no reports focusing on the MRI findings of cavernous hemangioma of the gallbladder have been published. This study reports a case of gallbladder hemangioma with pathologic and radiologic reviews, including MRI findings.

Multiple myeloma is a lymphohematopoietic disorder leading to abnormal hemostasis and significant pathologic changes of skeletal system. It induces multiple circular or oval-shaped radiolucent lesions which are characterized by 'punched-out appearance'. The surrounding trabecular bone normally shows no significant sclerotic reaction. Multiple myeloma patients may visit dental clinics, without perception of the disease themselves, due to discomfort from edema of orofacial region, oral ulcers, tooth mobility, pain or gingival bleeding. Multiple myeloma is susceptible to various complications, including delayed hemostasis and infection, which could occur during routine dental treatment such as periodontal and surgical operation. For radiographic diagnosis of multiple myeloma, common radiologic features of this tumor could be visualized by panoramic radiographs in the dental clinics, and further medical examinations and treatment can be recommended as a result.

Although posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is induced by various causes, a few cases have occurred after severe anemia correction. In this case report, a 45-year-old female patient visited emergency department with a chief complaint of dizziness due to severe anemia related to hypermenorrhea caused by uterine myoma. Before her operation, she had an abrupt headache and seizure during anemia correction with transfusion and injection of gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist. Immediately after the operation, she experienced visual disturbances, followed by limb weakness and tonic-clonic movements. Magnetic resonance imaging showed alterations in parietal and occipital lobes suggesting cerebrovascular edema with hypoperfusion. Here, we presented and discussed the clinical and radiologic features of PRES related to anemia correction.
