This study attempts to provide basic information on overseas employment to the radiological technologists and students majoring in radiology in Korea who consider the overseas employment by investigating the job consciousness for radiological technologists in Canada and Australia which have a high level of interest for overseas employment and want to compare their status with that of Korean radiological technologists. This study was performed by visiting hospitals such as Prince George Regional Hospital, 1475 Edmonton Street, Prince George, BC, Canada on August 13, 2007, Alfred Hospital, Commercial Road Melbourne 3004, Australia on August 4, 2008, and other Korea hospitals that show the similar scale as Canada and Australia on September 10, 2007. The results were summarized as follows : 1. Differences were observed in this sexual composition, such as 18 males (90%) in Korea, 14 females (73.7%) in Canada, and 25 females in Australia (86.2%). 2. The item of 'aptitude' which is one of the most important criteria, showed the highest level in Korea, Canada, and Australia, and the second most considered item was 'salary'. 3. In the values in jobs, the items of 'economic self-sufficiency', 'recognized by others', and 'establishing a social position' represented high levels in Korea, and the items of 'like the job itself', 'establishing self-actualization', 'feel the meaning of life', and 'make new friends' showed high levels in Canada and Australia. 4. Regarding the item of 'a job is important as much as a marriage', 'Yes' showed high level in Korea, and 'No' showed high levels in Canada and Australia. 5. Radiological technologists in Korea demonstrated a low level in the job consciousness compared to those of Canada and Australia. Although this study shows some limitations for showing whole idea of radiological technologists due to the lack of the scope in samples for each country as a practical manner, this study can be regarded significant to compare some countries that have interests in overseas employment.
Accoring to the astonlshing progress of medical science, the medical roles of the radiologic technologist are increasing gradually and specializing highly. However, there are the wide disagreements the actual roles of the radiologic technologists at clinics and the relating rules of the medical law. Therefore, it is required that the medical law should be corresponded with the actual state. To solve these problems. this study has proceeded to make the survey of the present medical law and has tried to offer the most suitable theories to the actual state. This study includes the survey of relevant professional literatures. The major contents of this study are as follows. First, medical technician is written "技士" (in Chinese character) at the present medical technician law, and that word is written wrong. So, it should be replaced with "技師". Therefore, radiologic technologist should be written "放射線師". Second, the relations between the doctor and the radiologic tecnologist should be written the "request or other words" instead of "direction". Third, in spite of the rules of the present medical law, the medical act of radiologic technologist at clinics should be belonging to the boundary of medical practice. Forth, to present the appropriate medical service to the patients, legal status of radiologic technologist as a member of medical team should be established. Fifth, it is desired that Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technology as a business of radiologic technologist should be provided for in the medical law.
In this study, we surveyed the current status, satisfaction and demand of radiologic technologist continuing education for 93 radiologic technologists who participated in the continuing education. To understand the current status and general evaluation and to find out the improvement direction, survey was conducted on 3 categories: participation, satisfaction and demand of continuing education. In addition, we analyzed the continuing education implementation status and the management system by collecting related regulations. As a result, the education completion rates of radiologic technologists from 2010 to 2012 were respectively 42.6%, 43.4% and 34.2%; the rates were similar to other medical technician's average education completion rates. According to the survey, in case of participation, the most frequent answer was 'more than five times less than 10 times per year' with 48.4% and in satisfaction section, the most common answer was 'Average(3)' with 34.4%. In demand of continuing education section, 32.8% of the respondents chose 'Clinical skill training in major field'. In the results of this research, continuing education needs to be managed in the direction of helping radiologists improve their personal ability and self development. Furthermore, to meet the demand of radiologists, the quality of continuing education should be improved to satisfy the educatee.

The purposes of this study are to analyze the realities after enforcements of safety control regulations for diagnostic X-ray equipments and to suggest means for an improvement of low radiation safety control. A questionnaire survey for medical radiologic technologists was carried out to determine enforcement effects of the safety control regulations. The results of analysis from the survey are as follows. That is, most of the respondents realized the importance of the radiation safety control system, but about a half of them revealed that the regulations were not well observed in accordance with their purposes. Only 43.9% of the respondents took an active part in quality control and safety control of radiation. And respondents responsibility, sex, age, and knowledge for safety control were important indicators for observations of the regulations. Trainings for the safety control regulations are needed to ensure safety control and proper usage of diagnostic X-ray equipments. And management of organizations using diagnostic X-ray equipments have to understand and stress the importance of radiation safety control system.
This study was carried out with statistical materials during the last two years of period from Jan. 1975 to Dec. 1976 which presented at radiologic department of 5 hospitals in Seoul City. The primary purpose of this study was to obtained more detailed informations related to the activities of radiologic technologists in diagnostic X-Ray examinations part and to provide some basic materials for managements in activities of then and manpower managements of their organization and practice. From the results of this study, the following conclusions were obtained [1] During two year from the January of 1975 to the December of 1976, total number of case in X-ray examinations were 464,830 case and 22,029 case in 1975 and 24,461 in 1976. And ratio of icreased in X-Ray examinations by year was 11.09 per cent. [2] Regarding the examined portion of X-Ray examination, a great propotion was chest examination as 56.88 per cent. [3] An average, the required time per case in X-Ray exam. was 9.28 minutes and make used of 1.94 sheets of X-Ray film per case in radiography. [4] An average, ratio of increased in X-Ray film by year was 12.71 per cent and ratio of failed film in it was 2.23 per cent. [5] The frequency rate of film size showed the highest distribution of $8"{\times}10"$(28.17%) and the highest distribution of X-Ray film by month was July(8.93%). [6] An average, the amount of activities per a diagnostic X-Ray equipment was 34.92 case and make used of 67.81 sheets of X-Ray film in a day. [7] The mean number of case in X-Ray examinations by radiologic technologists was 29.29 cases and make used of 56.87 sheets of X-Ray film in a day. Also, the average number of case was reading by radiologists was 32.42 case and 62.97 sheets of X-Ray film in a day.
This study was conducted to provide a basis for planning Radiological technologists supply and career counseling of college students by investigating the distribution and status of Radiological technologists and expensive medical equipment increased trend in Korea. The data was collected from August to September 2014 through related associations and national agencies. Radiological technologists working in the domestic medical institutions in 2014 were confirmed as a trend that continues to increase over the previous year to a total 18,988 and 37.3 per 100,000 population but the increase number was less than the number of Radiological technician licensee annually. Distribution of expensive medical equipments is as follows: the total number of CT was 1,873 in 2014 decreased compared to the previous year, the total number of MRI and PET was 1,261 and 207 increased over the previous year but the increased width decreased. In the future a variety of jobs and quality improvement of Radiological technician will be needed with a steady workforce monitoring.
Distribution of microorganisms were examined for the bucky tables in the radiology rooms of the department of radiological technology, the aprons, handles of various apparatus, handles of mobile radiological apparatus, and hands of the radiological technologists. As a result, relatively larger amounts of bacteria were found on the handles of the mobile radiological apparatus and the aprons. Among the isolated bacteria, Acinetobacter baumanni (7.3%), Klebsiella pneumoniae (6.7%), Staphylococcus aureus (3.9%), Serratia liquefaciens (1.7%), Enterobacter cloaceae (0.6%), Providenica rettgeri (0.6%) are known as the cause of nosocomial infection (hospital acquired infection). In addition, similar colonies were also found on the hands of the radiological technologists such as microorganisms of Klebsiella pneumoniae (8.4%), Staphylococcus aureus (6.6%), Yersinia enterocolotica (5.4%), Acinetobacter baumanni (4.2%), Enterobacter cloaceae (2.4%), Serratia liquefaciens (1.8%), Yersinia pseuotuberculosis (18%), Enterobacter sakazakii (1.2%), and Escherichia coli (0.6%). In particular, this result indicates clinical significance since Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli show strong pathogenicity. Therefore, a continuous education is essential for the radiological technologists to prevent the nosocomial infection.
The present study is designed to develop surveying tools to measure stressors of and social supports for Radiological Technologists which may play a role to alleviate their stresses caused from their job environments. For this purpose, an analysis of reliability by factors of personal stressors was conducted on 890 radiologists who are working at 44 general hospitals in 16 cities and provinces across the country. The results of the analysis may be summed up as follows: Six factors in 2 concerned fields turned out to be major tools for use as items of questionnaires to measure social supports for and organizational culture of Radiological Technologists. The factors determined to be applicable for survey with reliability coefficient of more than 0.7 measured by factors for internal coherence included social supports on the job(0.90), off-the-job social supports(0.81), job satisfaction(0.80), devotion for job by length of service(0.81) and emotional devotion for job(0.80), all deemed to be appropriate as survey items. In the verifying process of the results, it was found that normative devotion for job(0.61) showed lower reliability as its statistical coefficient was analyzed to be less than 0.7. It seemed, therefore, necessary to reconstruct items or re-select such ones only that can maintain internal coherence in order to analyze appropriateness of related measuring tools, or to develop new measuring tools. Although the outcomes of this study can be used to verify reliability and appropriateness of concerned concepts to assess stresses caused during the job performance of Radiological Technologists, it may be improper to adopt them to measure all types of social supports and stresses that occur generally under the job environment. It is desired, however, to compare and analyze the findings of the present study with others and to utilize them as basic data for further development of tools that can maintain internal coherence in terms of reliability and appropriateness in spite of changing social environments.
This study aims to find a way to control infection of community radiology effectively by calculating the degree of contamination, culture and identifying the flora in radiology of five general hospitals in Gyeongsangbuk-do. Staphylococcus, Micrococcus, Pseudomonas stutzeri, Pseudomonas oryzihabitans were identified as surface flora. These are know to be pathogens of hospital acquired infection and there was no radiology-specific flora. Research subject hospitals were conducting similar infection control education but degree of contamination of each hospital showed significant difference. Difference in degree of contamination according to contact sources were analyzed by Contact sources were classified into technologist-using, patients-using and common-using materials. Analysis of each hospital's degree of contamination showed that patient-using materials were significantly more contaminated than technologist-using and common-using materials (p<0.001). Devices which are similar to each other in monthly average frequency of use showed no significant difference in degree of contamination, but general X-ray devices and chest boards which are used most frequently showed higher degree of contamination than others. In addition, hospital A, B and C which have heavier monthly average caseload showed relatively high degree of contamination on irradiation devices which are used by technologists only or by technologists and patients commonly, office desks and doorpulls. Hence it is considered that intensity of infection control education should be different according to the degree of monthly average caseload. This study provided an opportunity to aware that technologists' feeling of contamination is crucial for infection control of radiology, and the Accupoint ATP public hygiene monitoring system which was used in this study for measuring the degree of contamination was proved to be an effective measuring device for hospital acquired infection management.
