  • The comparison of radiative and convective heat transfer in a room air ventilation is investi¬gated by a numerical simulation. The room air temperature distributions with radiation are appeared more uniform than without radiation at Gr= 1460 and Re=50. The mean Nusselt number in the radiative heat transfer shows less value than convective heat transfer. The total mean Nusselt number is found Wall 1> Wall 3${\fallingdotseq}$Wall 2 7 Wall 4.

  • To establish the sea surface temperature estimation scheme for the upcoming advanced remote sensor, the quasi-analytical solution of the approximated radiative transfer equation which express the radiative transfer process of the radiant energy radiated from the sea surface to the satellite is approximated into the non-linear equation. To solve the simultaneous approximated radiative transfer equation which express the radiative transfer process of the radiant energy radiated from the sea surface to the satellite is approximated into the nonlinear equation. To solve the simultaneous approximated radiative transfer equation at each channel, the constrained non-linear optimization technique is adopted. To define the coefficients of the approximated radiative transfer equation and the constraints, the satellite detected radiance and the total transmittance are computed from the 1350 kinds of simulated atmosphere / surface models via radiative transfer code. The verification from the simulated data show the sufficient result.

  • In multi-dimensional systems, various solution schemes for radiative transfer are suggested but the applicabilities and accuracies of these schemes have not yet fully tested due to the lack of reference solutions especially for nongray gases. In this paper we present some precise radiative transfer solutions for a black walled 3-dimensional cylindrical system filled with nongray gases having uniform temperature and concentration. The ray-tracing method with the $T_N$ quadrature set and the SNB model are used to obtain the radiative transfer solutions by the nongray gases. The solutions presented in this paper are proved to be quite accurate and can be regarded as the reference solutions for the radiative transfer by nongray gases.

  • In this paper an experimental was done to design combustion chambers which is required radiation strength of high temperature generator of absorption rigerator. Partiqularly, in combustion chamber radiative mediums were set and basic experiments were done according to its size by radiation strength and effects of heat transfer promotion. The results are as follows : 1) When radiative mediums were set in small combustion furnace burning nonframely radiative heat transfer was effected. 2) In case that area ratio($A/A_o$) of radiative medium is 0.82 or over, temperature fluctuation effects of furnace inside were not nearly. 3) In experimental boundary heat transfer effects were 1.8 times by setting up radiative medium. Specially, $q/{\Delta}T$ values of furnace inside were uniformed nearly by setting up radiative mediums.

  • In this work, we developed an accurate and efficient radiative finite volume method applicable for the complex 2D planar and 3D geometries using an unstructured-grid finite volume method. The present numerical model has fully been validated by several benchmark cases including the radiative heat transfer in quadrilateral enclosure with isothermal medium, tetrahedral enclosure, a three-dimensional idealized furnace, as well as convection-coupled radiative heat transfer in a square enclosure. The numerical results for all cases are well agreed with the previous results. Special emphasis is given to the parallelization of the unstructured-grid radiative FVM using the domain decomposition approach. Numerical results indicate that the present parallel unstructured-grid FVM has the good performance in terms of accuracy, geometric flexibility, and computational efficiency.

  • We calculated dose rate using radiative transfer equations to consider radiative processes distinctly. The dose rate at Pohang(36°02'N, 129°23'E) was calculated using measured ozone and meteorological data and two-stream approximations(quadrature, Eddington, delta Eddington, PIFM(practical improved flux method), discrete ordinate, delta discrete ordinate) are used in solving equation. The purpose of this study is to determine the most compatible radiative transfer approximation for simulating the radiative and photochemical processes of atmosphere through comparision between calculated and measured values. Dose rate of the biologically effective irradiance in the region 0.28-0.32 U m showed the highest value when quadrature and Eddington was used and lower value on condition that delta scaling was applied. Correlation coefficient between dose rate at surface using radiation transfer equation and measured UV-B at Pohang was 0.78, 0.79 and 0.81 when delta Eddington, PIFM and delta discrete ordinate were used. Also, in case of above approximations were used, MBE(Mean Bias Error) was within -0.3MED/30min and RMBE(Relative Mean Bias Error) was below 10% between 1200 LST and 1400 LST Approximations which are compatible in estimating radiative process are delta Eddington, PIFM and delta discrete ordinate. Especially, in case that radiative process is considered more detail, delta discrete ordinate increased the number of stream is proper.

  • The radiative heat transfer analysis in particle layer has an inherent difficulty in treating the governing integro-differential equations, which are derived from the remote effects. Most of the existing analyses are limited to the one dimensional system, taking into account only absorption or isotropic scatting of solid particles. Fortunately, a new Monte Carlo Simulation method is recently developed to analyse multidimensional radiative heat transfer in particles with anisotropically scatting. By this method, the present study analyses the radiative heat transfer in dispersed particles through the numerous droplets in the liquid droplet radiator to develop a technique of liquid droplet radiator. Consequently, knows that the radiative heat flux in particle layer is influenced by exitinction coefficient, optical thickness and surface area of particles in the system.

  • The radiative heat transfer analysis in the fluidized particles layer has important application in many technological areas such as combustion chambers at high pressure and temperature, plasma generators for nuclear fusion, MHD generator using pulverized coal and the liquid droplet radiator used to reject wasted heat from a power plant operating in space. To accurately model the radiation properties of the fluidized particles layer, it is necessary to know the radiation interchange factors of particles in each layer. But the solutions are usually not possible for the equations of radiative heat transfer because it has an inherent difficulty in treating the governing intergo- differential equations, which are derived from the remote effects of radiative heat transfer. In this study, the analysis uses the Monte Carlo simulation method with optical depth model to calculate the radiation interchange factors of particles in each layer with wall and with each other.

  • The purpose of present study is to evaluate both the radiative heat loss from a flame and the local formation and oxidation rate of soot. The present paper describes a comprehensive mathematical model to deal with combustion and radiative heat transfer simultaneously. The involved radiative heat transfer model was based on the "heat ray tracing method" originally proposed by Hayasaka et al.. Some predicted results were compared with the experiments.periments.

  • Radiative transfer by nongray gas mixtures with nonuniform concentration and temperature profiles is studied by using the statistical narrow-band model and the ray-tracing method with the sufficiently accurate T$\_$60/ quadrature set. Transmittances through the nonhomogeneous gas mixtures are calculated by using the Curtis-Godson approximation. Three different cases with different temperature and concentration profiles are considered profiles are considered to obtain benchmark solutions for the radiative transfer by nongray gas mixtures. The solutions obtained from this study are verified and found to be very well matched with the previous solutions for uniform gas mixtures. The results presented in this paper can be used as benchmark solutions in developing various solution methods for radiative transfer by nongray gas mixtures.
