The technology of Computer Graphics (CG) has been in great progress for almost 20 years and has proven to be a valuable tool for a broad variety of fields, including nuclear engineering. To work in any hazardous environment for example radiation field is particularly challenging because the danger is not always visually apparent. In this study as the application of CG to nuclear engineering field, we proposed to develop a radiation risk recognition aided system in which various radiation information; radiation risks, radiation distribution, hazard information and so on, were visualized by CG. The system used the server and client system. In the server there were two parts; one (main-server) was the database part having various data and the other (sub-server) was the visualization part visualizing the human phantom by POV-Ray. In the client there was the input and output part. The outputs from the system were various radiation information represented by coloring, circle graph and line graph intuitionally. The system is useful for a broad range of activities including radiation protection, radiation management, dose minimization, and demonstration to the public.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the characteristics of patients who underwent spinal nerve block on the fear of injection and the risk of radiation. Subjects were 137 patients (67 males, 70 females) who visited the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine in Cheongju. The method was conducted as a research study using a total of 28 questionnaires consisting of patient characteristics, experience characteristics of nerve block surgery, nerve block fear scale, and radiation risk perception scale. The reliability of the questionnaire response was secured with a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.6 or higher. For statistical analysis, correlation was tested by descriptive statistics, frequency analysis, independent sample T-test, and Pearson and Spearman correlation coefficients by measurement scale and factor. As a result, the fear scale of nerve block was significantly higher in women than in men (p<0.05). The fear scale of nerve block injection was significantly higher in the first-visit patients than in the second-visited patients (p<0.05). However, there was no significant difference among all variables in radiation risk perception. In conclusion, patients undergoing spinal nerve block were more aware of the fear of injection than the risk of radiation exposure during the procedure.
The purpose of this study was to perform an actual proof analysis on the structural effects of recognition of radiation risks on management and benefits. Data was collected using self-administered questionnaires targeting students having majors related to radiation from 1 April to 31 May in 2013 of one four-year-course university located in Chungbuk, Korea. As a result of the analysis, it turned out that as recognition of radiation risks is higher, recognition of radiation management is higher, which has a significant effect on benefits. It was indicated that although recognition of radiation risks does not directly influence radiation benefits, positive recognition on radiation benefits could increase through the parameter, radiation management. In order to improve smooth use of radiation and increase benefits, education that emphasizes the need of proper radiation management should be performed.
Most patients and parents and guardians display frequent anxiety due to radiation exposure during outpatient, ward, and pediatric general radiographic examinations. This is a behavior that perceives only the harmfulness of radiation. For the recognition of medical radiation, we conduct surveys on outpatients, inpatients, and pediatric parents and guardians to identify their awareness, and then use the radiation dose promotional materials After providing accurate information on the use of radiation, the outpatient, inpatient, and pediatric parents and guardians were asked to explain the change in awareness. The questionnaire items were classified into five categories: repetitive radiation awareness for diagnosis, awareness of exposure dose, availability of exposure information, awareness of radiation risk, and awareness of health problems caused by radiation. There was a statistically significant difference in the items of recognition result of medical radiation, although there was a slight difference in the individual items in the pre and post-recognition results of providing information about the radiologists of the protector and the outpatient(p<0.05). Therefore, through the installation of these promotional materials, we will improve our awareness of medical radiation safety during general radiography surveillance in the Department of Radiology to provide better quality medical information and medical services, thereby contributing to strengthening the competitiveness of the hospital.
Background: Radiation is used in a variety of areas, but it also poses potential risks. Although radiation is often used with great effectiveness in many applications, people perceive potential risks associated with radiation and feel anxious about the possibility of radiation exposure. Various methods of measuring radiation doses have been developed, but there is no way for the general public to measure their doses with ease. Currently, many people use smartphones, which provide information about the location of an individual phone through network connections. If a smartphone application could be developed for measuring radiation dosage, it would be a very effective way to measure individuals' radiation doses. Thus, we conducted a survey study to assess the social acceptance of such a technology by the general public and their intent to use that technology to measure radiation doses, as well as to investigate whether such an intention is correlated with anxiety and attitudes toward the use of radiation. Materials and Methods: A nationwide online survey was conducted among 355 Koreans who were 20 years old or older. Results and Discussion: Significant differences were found between the genders in attitudes, perceptions of radiation risk, and fears of exposure to radiation. However, a significant difference according to age was observed only in the intent to use a smartphone dose measurement application. Attitudes towards the use of radiation exerted a negative effect on radiation risk perception and exposure anxiety, whereas attitudes towards the use of radiation, risk perception, and anxiety about exposure were found to have a positive impact on the intent to use a smartphone application for dose measurements. Conclusion: A survey-based study was conducted to investigate how the general public perceives radiation and to examine the acceptability of a smartphone application as a personal dose monitoring device. If such an application is developed, it could be used not only to monitor an individual's dose, but also to contribute to radiation safety information infrastructure by mapping radiation in different areas, which could be utilized as a useful basis for radiation research.
This study investigates the perception of the general public through analysis of various potential risk factors reflecting nuclear power generation and nuclear power (radiation) and risks. A total of 293 copies of the data were collected from various strata in Busan. As a result, among the potential factors in everyday life, there was a high awareness of the risk to the fire. Next, the perception of risk for radiation terror and nuclear (nuclear) energy was relatively high compared to other risk factors. In the analysis according to age, educational background, and political ideological tendency, the results were contradictory to the necessity, risk and safety of nuclear power generation. The potential risk factors and the perception of nuclear power according to the tendency of political ideology were analyzed to be positive recognition of conservative ideology and negative recognition of progressive group. In other words, the perception of nuclear power was analyzed differently according to the tendency of political ideology. Therefore, it should be decided to reflect the opinions of experts and various opinions of the general public in the setting of nuclear radiation (radiation), it is believed that ordinary people need to take flexible action without having a vague sense of anxiety about various potential risks and nuclear power (radiation) based on objective and scientific grounds.

Sens of insecutity of the public and professionals about harmful effects of radiation is increasing in an accident at the Chernobyl and Fkushima nuclear power plant.Anxiety was amplified to lack of information about radiation majority of people. To target the middle and high school in the region of Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do, to investigate the radiation recognition of the next generation, it is intended to present a model of education for the safe use of radiation. The High School of the six metropolitan cities, city, town through the questionnaire and needs to be educational experience of radiation and use knowledge level of radiation, experience in daily life, understanding of man-made radiation and natural radiation, information channel on radiation, the radiation Distribute the total 800 parts of, to recover the 629 unit, was analyzed for 155 females 474 males. Many people 75.36% of the people, to 24.64% female subjects of this investigation, was constant, respectively from 13 to 18 years age. It is a large number and 30.37% of the respondents as "normal" level of knowledge of radiation, for the type of radiation, most knew. You have answer for risk experience of the medical radiation was higher, touching a lot of information via the broadcast medium in general, and the accuracy is low. I thought we wanted to be educated three or more twice a year, as an educator, about 71.37% and radiation-related understanding of knowledge and background in accordance with the diversification of information channels, the regional differences between urban and rural areas. But I considered the difference age (grade) for each is displayed, intended for junior high school students, the target surface and use the occurrence of radiation, high school students, the need for education about risk and application of radiation through this study.
The development of AI systems for radiation therapy is important to improve the accuracy, effectiveness, and safety of cancer treatment. The current system has the disadvantage of monitoring patients using CCTV, which can cause errors and mistakes in the treatment process, which can lead to misalignment of radiation. Developed the PMRP system, an AI automation system that uses depth cameras to measure patient's fine movements, segment patient's body into parts, align Z values of depth cameras with Z values, and transmit measured feedback to positioning devices in real time, monitoring errors and treatments. The need for such a system began because the CCTV visual monitoring system could not detect fine movements, Z-direction movements, and body part movements, hindering improvement of radiation therapy performance and increasing the risk of side effects in normal tissues. This study could provide the development of a field of radiotherapy that lags in many parts of the world, along with the economic and social importance of developing an independent platform for radiotherapy devices. This study verified its effectiveness and efficiency with data through phantom experiments, and future studies aim to help improve treatment performance by improving the posture correction mechanism and correcting left and right up and down movements in real time.
The purpose of study was to analysis on the effects of radiation-counseling convergence education on radiation awareness. The survey objects were students of radiation-counseling convergence education from 12th May to 22th June in 2016. The questionnaires were education satisfactions and radiation awareness (risk, benefit, control) by Likert-type 5 scales. The analysis results revealed that education satisfactions of men students showed a significant higher female students and correlation coefficient of education satisfactions were the best high in the benefit and control of radiation. Finally radiation-counseling convergence education had a significant effect on radiation benefit. This convergence education influenced positive recognition on radiation benefit and it was indicated that radiation-counselors could treat clients on the basis of radiation benefit.
The goal of this study is to awaken about risk occurred by CT examination. For radio-technologists working at 'S medical center' located in Seoul, we investigated a recognition about dose and risk CT and normal X-ray examination according by working experience in hospital, experience about CT examination and radiation source. For subjects of investigation, radio-technologists working at 'S medical center' located in Seoul helped us. We collected 131 questionnaires for a test of hypothesis. Cronbach @ coefficients of questionnaires were 0.825988 and 0.767161 and a rejection rate of p-value was below 0.05. SAS 9.1(SAS Institute Inc., Cary, NC, USA.) statistic package was used for hypothesis test. We used Mann-Whitney test, Kruskai-Wallis test, Two sample T-test, Two sample T-test with Bonferroni's Correction and One-way ANOVA methods. P-values of hypothesis about dose of CT and normal X-ray examination were 0.2291 ~ 0.9663. p-values of hypothesis about risk were 0.1924 ~ 1.0000. All of hypothesis is over rejection rate(<0.05). This study shows that radio-technologists of S medical center recognized that CT has higher dose and risk than general X-ray examination.
