Solar power is being spotlighted recently as a new energy source due to environmental problems and applications of solar power to curved structures are increasing. Solar panels installed on curved surfaces have different efficiencies depending on its position and the efficient positioning of solar panels plays a critical role in the design of solar power generation systems. In this study, the changing characteristics of solar irradiance were analyzed for hemispherical dome with a large curvature and the positioning of solar panels that can efficiently utilize solar energy was investigated. With an icosahedron-based hemispherical dome consisting of triangular elements as target model, a program for calculating solar irradiance using a normal vector of the solar module on each face was developed. Furthermore, the change of solar irradiance according to the sun's path was analyzed by time and season, and its effects on shades were also examined. From the analysis results, the effective positioning could be determined on the basis of the efficiency of the solar panels installed on the dome surfaces on solar irradiance.

This paper analyzed a potential interference of electric equipments on radio service below 30MHz through an experiment with a PDP(Plasma Display Panel) TV and a RF(Radio Frequency) light bulb in an anechoic chamber. The radiation levels of the PDP TV and the RF light bulb are measured and a combined interference is calculated on the basis of the experimental value. As a result, the combined interference signal level is increased according to the number of interferer. The possibility of a potential interference from electric equipments on radio service below 30MHz is realized through comparison between the measured radiation value of electric equipments and the CISPR(International Special Committee on Radio Interference) 11 limit.

The low-temperatured radiant heating System like a panel heating system is recognized as nice means to make comfortable indoor environment. Perhaps, 'Ondol' would be a typical example of the Panel heating system. Nevertheless. Occupants in a radiantly heated Space which has an asymmetric radiant field may feel thermally discomfort due to the asymmetric radiation. The aim of this Study is to suggest the fundamental technical data for establishing Standards of thermally comfortable environment when designing a radiant heating System. Thermal distribution of indoor environment and the skin temperature of the occupants were measured at experimental room in KIER (Korea Institute of Energy and Resources). Whole/Regional thermal and comfort Sensation votes of the occupants were taken simultaneously in order to investigate the relationships between thermal environmental factor and the occupants' responses. The effect of an asymmetric radiation on thermal environment and the occupants' responses was analyzed by using a v.r.t.(vector radiant temperature). By this means, the thermally neutral limits for the ambient air temperature and the floor surface temperature by the occupants' responses were Obtained. And the recommended temperature limits of the indoor surface were derived from the experimental work and the theory of radiant and will provide thermal neutrality for man without any discomfort on the part of the body.

The bonding process of LCD panel is attaching an inner lead to an outer lead in the production line of LCD panel module. It is composed of an OLB process and a PCB bonding process. Since bonding tool assembly is one of the core parts of the bonding equipment that determines the durability and performance of the final product, much design efforts to enhance uniformity and efficiency of the process have been made. In this paper, FE analyses have been employed to determine the bonding tool size. Bonding tool of long bar shape has been simplified as a piece with same heater pitch, and appropriate boundary conditions such as convection and radiation are considered. Thermal analysis results by the FEM have been validated by the experiments. With the use of FE analysis varies design parameters and the corresponding effects have been evaluated. It was observed that the approach presented in this paper could be employed for the design of LCD module bonding tool.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficiency of the thermal environment created by the cooling system at the apartment that combines the forced convection cooling(the system reducing humidity from room) with the floor cooling radiation which uses the floor panel from floor heating system, a general residential heating system in Korea. In this study, the combined cooling system in which air supply, spurt temperature difference and interior draft are reduced, is compared with the existing forced convection cooling system. To identify the effect of the comparison concretely, a comparative experiment is carried out on tour conditions, ie, convection cooling, floor radiation convection cooling and floor radiation cooling. Through it the characteristical thermal environment formed within the model room is analyzed, and the conveying system of compressed floor chill and condensation problem are reviewed.
Using two- and three-dimensional fluid simulation codes, we have suggested several new plasma display panel (PDP) cell structures that have high luminous efficiency compared with conventional structure. To improve the luminance and discharge efficiency, we utilize long discharge path, lower electric field region, and reduction of power consumption by adding one auxiliary electrode or reducing the electrode area. Consequently, luminous efficiency increases about 1.8 times. Furthermore for the resonance radiation trapping effect in PDP system, we have described a self-consistent radiation transport model coupled with fluid simulation using modified Holstein's equation.
The combustion characteristics and combustion heat of sandwich panel cores were analysed using variable external irradiation level. The characteristics such as ignition time, critical heat flux, ignition temperature and surface temperature profile were measured. Fuel samples were exposed to incident heat fluxes from 15 to $50\;kW/m^2$. For the measurement of various combustion characteristics, the size of specimen was $100\;mm\;{\times}\;100\;mm\;{\times}\;50\;mm$ and the samples were 3 different kinds. As results, Type B showed the best characteristics in measurement of combustion heat and ignition temperature and Type C showd the best characteristics in critical heat flux and surface temperature profile than that of the other two. In conclusion, we knew that Type C had the best performance in fire safety from all data of this study.
A numerical study was conducted to investigate the effects of the spray characteristics of water mist on the attenuation of thermal radiation. The attenuation process of the thermal radiation, generated from a hot surface panel, passing through the water mist was calculated via Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS), and the effects of the flow rate, droplet mean diameter, and spray injecting angle of the water mist were analyzed. The results indicated that the increase in flowrate and decrease in droplet size led to an increase in the attenuation of thermal radiation. As the thermal radiation passed through the spray droplets, the effect of the spatial distribution of spray droplets was verified by calculating the thermal radiation attenuation at different spray injecting angles. The results indicated that the radiation attenuation increases as the spray angle increases. This implies that a wider distribution of spray droplets, irrespective of the droplet size and flowrate, increases the attenuation effect on thermal radiation.
The rapid development in digital acquisition technology in radiography has not been accompanied by information regarding optimum radiolographic technique for use with an amorphus silicon flat panel detector. The purpose of our study was to compared image quality and radiation dose of an amorphus silicon flat panel detectors for digital chest radiography. All examinations were performed by using an amorphus silicon flat panel detector. Chest radiographs of an chest phantom were obtained with peak kilovoltage values of $60{\sim}150kVp$. Published data on the effect of x-ray beam energy on image quality and patient dose when using an amorphus silicon flat panel detector. It is important that radiographers are aware of optimum kVp selection for an amorphus silicon flat panel detector system, particularly for the commonly performed chest examination.

When the vibration of the thin panel by exciting single point is used to radiate sound, the inherent vibration characteristic of the plate itself causes influence on the radiated sound. A conventional panel speaker system usually uses the single or double point excitations for generating the sound through the panel itself. The radiated sound can be easily distorted due to the modal characteristics of the plate so it is difficult to expect sufficient sound power or high radiation efficiency. In this paper, to achieve an immersive sound field, the multiple speaker zones on a thin panel are created with the limited number of actuators. The designated vibration field which can generates directional sound is realized by employing the vibro-acoustic inverse rendering methods. Actuators are arranged from the positions which have the advantage of implementing with multi-modal excitations. The location and number of actuators are compared with the location and number of controllable speaker zones by conducting numerical simulations.
