  • Thermal performance of pipe network of continuous heating system controlled by thermostat and flow control valve was simulated in consideration of radiation heat transfer and solved by linear analysis method. Thermal performance of real apartment building with radiant floor heating system was simulated by equivalence heat resistance-capacity method. This method enables to simulate the unsteady variation of temperature or each element of building. Heat transfer characteristics of each element were also investigated.

전도 시계열 계수를 수치해석으로 구하는 방법 (A Procedure for Computing Conduction Time Series Factors by Numerical Method)

  • The purpose of this paper is to propose the way of computing conduction time series factors (CTSF) using numerical method. After the accuracy of the numerical solution procedure being verified, the method is applied to the wall type 24 and roof type 14 of ASHARE to find the conduction time series coefficients, so called conduction time series factors. The results agree well with the values presented in the ASHRAE handbook. The method proposed can be easily applied to find unknown CTSF for more complex structures. It provides information about the temperature changes at a given location and time, thus validity of generated CTSF can be checked easily.

  • Thermal performance of test cell of model hot water Ondol house was simulated by equivalence heat resistence and heat capacity method. In this method wall was replaced by two equivalence and one heat capacity. This method enables to simulate the variation of temperature of each element of model house. The effect of pipe diameter, pitch of pipe and with or without consideration of inter-radiation between wall surfaces on the energy consumption rate were investgated. Results show that radiations between the ground surface of room and wall surfaces contribute to the heating of room air by reducing the convection heat loss through the wall surfaces.

온돌 난방에 대한 동적 시뮬레이션 및 분석 (Method and Analysis of Dynamic Simulation for Ondol Heating)

  • Ondol heating, a kind of radiant floor heating, is a main method used in housing units in Korea. Building energy simulation including ondol and relevant facilities has not been performed due to its complexity. For evaluating energy consumption and indoor temperature variation, a new method should be proposed. At the present work, a dynamic simulation on ondol heating was tried by combining TRNSYS and EES. Characteristic functions for a pump, hot water coils and a gas boiler were simultaneously solved by EES, and calculated flow rates and supply temperature of hot water were provided as inputs of the active layer of TYPE 56 in TRNSYS. The results by the simulation on a typical housing unit in Korea shows a good trend in a viewpoint of actual behavior of ondol heating.

온돌면(溫突面)의 방열량(放熱量) 산정방법(算定方法)에 관한 연구(硏究) (A Calculation Method on Heat Flux from Ondol Floor Surface)

  • Until recently there was a lack of reliable performance data for the design and operation of Ondol heating systems. This paper presents a calculation method on heat flux from Ondol floor surface. Total heat flux from floor consists of radiation and convection component. In order to analyse the characteristics of both radiation and convection heat flux, each surface temperature is measured and several temperatures near each wall are measured vertically and horizontally in a practical Ondol heating space. Radiation heat flux is calculated and analysed by Gebhart's Absorption Factor Method with the consideration of instantaneous radiant exchanges. Convection heat output is derived from the vertical temperature profiles near floor. The vertical temperature profiles could be expressed by nonlinear regression equation models and convection coefficients could be estimated by the equations. As a result, radiation, convection and total heat flux are suggested by the expression of difference between floor surface and room air temperature.

  • This investigation is carried out numerically for the two dimensional natural convection and surface radiation heat transfer in a square enclosure. The bottom wall is a constant heat flux at hot temperature and also top wall is isothermal at cold temperature whereas the left and right side walls are adiabatic except a transparent window on the right side partially. The exchange of radiant energy is obtained by the net radiation method and the shape factor by the crossed string method. The change in temperature and Nusselt number distributions of the walls due to the effect of the wall emissivity for various emissivities and for various dimensionless insolation energies are investigated. The dimensionless local convective heat flux and local radiative heat flux distributions in the wall except an adiabatic wall are also compared.

Retrieving Land surface Component Temperature Using Multi-Angle Thermal Infrared Data

  • As non-isothermal mixed pixel is widely existed, the pixel-mean temperature cannot adequately represent the actual thermal state of land surface. The row crop was chosen as target to discuss the problem of component temperature retrieval. At first, the matrix model was found to express the thermal radiant directionality of the target. Then correlation of multi-angle infrared radiance was analyzed. In order to increase the retrieving accuracy, we chose the retrievable parameters and established the iterative method combining with inverse matrix to retrieve component temperature. It was proved by field experiment that the method could improve the retrieving accuracy and stability remarkably.

  • 현대 화학플랜트 및 석유 가스 산업 시설은 다양한 잠재위험으로 인하여 위험물질의 누출 및 화재가 빈번히 발생하고 있다. 그 중 특히 화재는 직접적인 화염의 접촉 또는 복사열로 인하여 인명피해는 물론 건물, 설비에 대한 피해 발생으로 domino effect가 발생하여 2차, 3차 피해까지도 발생하기도 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 발생가능한 화재를 파악하여 사고피해영향과 빈도를 낮추어 화재 위험성을 관리하는 FRA(Fire Risk Assessment)기법의 절차를 제시하였으며, 사고피해영향으로 화염의 직접적인 접촉과 복사열로 인한 주요건물(제어실, 창고, 변전소)의 물리적 특성이 변형되는 시간을 고려하였다. 사례연구를 통하여 수행한 FRA기법으로 국내외 화학공장의 위험성을 경감시킬 수 있었으며, Protection 설정을 통한 사고의 빈도와 피해영향의 감소를 정량적으로 파악할 수 있었다.

공동주택 단지 내 식재유형에 따른 온도저감 효과 연구 (A Study on the thermal comfort change according to the Planting Type in housing complex)

  • The rapid urbanization caused drastic temperature changes in Korea. Excessive urbanization and development result in unpredictable and abnormal climate change all over the world. These changes are reflected in Korean government policy and research about cities, such that various research endeavors have been undergone recently. There are lots of ways to improve the urban environment; the easiest way to solve the urban heat effect problem is to make green spaces within the city. Even though we can't enlarge green spaces over the city limitlessly, it is desperately need for a methodology to efficiently create green space in limited area. Based on awareness of issues as mentioned earlier, we would like to propose landscaping method that can increase thermal comfort in the same area. For this study, simulating the change of temperature, mean radiant temperature, PMV were done due to number of species planted in apartment complex. To increase the reliability of the simulation, first above all, field measurement for temperature change was performed in apartment complex, where residential building are arranged in the form of ㄷ. And based on this data, Envi-met simulation was performed varying 1-7 kinds of species divided by grass, shrubs, arbor (deciduous, conifers) planted in apartment complex. As a result, there was a change less than $1^{\circ}C$ with the increasing number of species in daytime, but the average radiation temperature about $6-7^{\circ}C$ was reduced. In addition, PMV index was improved by more than 0.5 point. Thermal comfort indicator improved significantly depending on the number of species during the day, on the other hand, there were no significant changes at night. As a consequence, this study has shown that not single-species planting but mixed planting varied the number of species would improve the thermal comfort in the same area of landscaping space at daytime.

물주머니를 이용한 가온요법이 고위험신생아의 체온과 산소요구도, 호흡수, 혈당에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Warm Water-Filled Bag on Body Temperature, $FiO_2$, Respiration Rate, and Blood Sugar in High Risk Neonates)

  • Purpose: To investigate the effects of a warm water-filled bag on body temperature, Oxygen demand, respiratory rate and blood sugar in high risk neonates. Method: The infants were assigned to two groups, 16 in the experimental and 20 in the control group. Infants in the experimental group was received $40{\~}42^{\circ}C$ warm water-filled bag therapy for 2 hours under radiant warmers. Infants in the control group were placed under the same kind of radiant warmers but without the warm water-filled bag. The following were measured every 30 minutes: rectal temperature, $O_2$ demand ($FiO_2$), and respiratory rate. Blood sugar was measured hourly. Result: Body temperatures increased significantly in the experimental group (P=0.0138), and there was a difference according to time (P=0.0001). Significant difference were found between the two groups fur $FiO_2$ (P=0.0180). There was no difference in respiratory rates between the two groups and rates according to time for the experimental group were also not significant (P=0.3569). No significant difference between two groups was found for blood sugar (P=0.2152), but there was a significant difference according to the times (P=0.0001). Conclusion: This results of this study indicate that a warm-filled bag is an effective means of resorting body temperature and reducing $O_2$ demand in high risk neonates.
