  • As a general radial configuration of power distribution system, the various researches have being studied to change a radial configuration to network one such as smart, intelligent and micro grid for loop operation. If a radial configuration changes to network, protective coordination comes to the biggest problem. When a typical protective algorithm is applied to loop distribution system protection, the interrupted section is expanded, therefore, reliability grows worse. This paper presents the new protective method being able to apply to loop distribution system with Distribution Automation System (DAS) which separate the minimal faulted section. Through contingency analysis of the sustained and momentary fault, we analyzed the influence for radial configuration and loop configuration using interrupted area and proved the effectiveness of proposed method.

  • The study is concerned with the two-dimensional thermo-viscoplastic finite element analysis for radial forging as an incremental forging process. The deformation and temperature distribution of the workpiece during radial forging are studied. The analysis of deformation and the analysis of heat transfer are carried out for simple upsetting of cylinder by decoupling the above two analyses. A method of treatment for heat transfer through the contact region between the die and the workpiece is suggested, in which remeshing of the die elements is not necessary. Radial forging of a mild steel cylinder at the elevated temperature is subjected to the decoupled finite element analysis as well as to the experiment. The computed results in deformation, load and temperature distribution are found to be in good agreement with the experimental observations. As an example of viscoplastic decoupled analysis of hot radial forging, forging of a square section into a circular section is treated. The stresses, strains, strain rates and temperature distribution are computed by superposing material properties as the workpiece is rotated and forged incrementally. It was been thus shown that proposed method of analysis can be effectively applied to the hot radial forging processes.

  • Dispersed Generation (DG) units significantly effect the existing distribution protection practices. Therefore, new protection practices of the distribution system interconnected with DG units should be reevaluated and developed. In this paper, a new inter-tie protection scheme of DG units for distribution automatic reclosing is proposed. The impact of DG units on existing radial-sectionaliser coordination is analyzed. And the effects of the distribution reclosing type (radial and passive reclosing) on DG dynamics are analyzed and classified. From the results of the DG dynamic responses by the reclosing type, i.e. radial and passive reclosing, the inter-tie protection schemes of DG are introduced to improve the reliability and availability of utility interactive DG. The proposed schemes are proved and evaluated by a case study using PSCAD/EMTDC simulation.

  • It is important to catch or classify fault types by any detecting technique for distribution protection. This paper proposes the technique to classify the fault types using wavelet transform in radial distribution line. Modeling of the radial distribution line is simulated using PSCAD/EMTDC and wavelet transform is performed in the Matlab program.

  • Using the high-resolution observational data obtained by the Hubble Space Telescope, we found that there is the diversity of the radial trends of blue straggler stars (BSSs) in young massive clusters (YMCs) in the Large Magellanic Cloud unlike BSSs in old globular clusters usually showing the segregated radial distributions. To understand the dynamical processes that lead to the none-segregated or even inversely-segregated radial distribution of BSSs, we performed direct N-body simulations for YMCs. Our numerical simulations show that the presence of black hole subsystems inside the cluster centre can significantly affect the dynamical evolution of BSSs and eventually lead to none- or inversely-segregated radial distribution of BSSs.

  • In medium voltage electrical distribution networks, reforming the loss reduction is important, and in line with this, the issue of system engineering and use of proper equipment Expansion of distribution systems results in higher system losses and poor voltage regulation. Therefore, an efficient and effective distribution system has become more important. So, proper selection of conductors in the distribution system is crucial as it determines the current density and the resistance of the line. Evaluation of aging conductors for losses and costs imposed in addition to the careful planning of technical and economic networks can be identified in the network design. In this paper the use of imperialist competitive algorithm; genetic algorithm; is proposed to optimal branch conductor selection and reconstruction in radial distribution systems planning. The objective is to minimize the overall cost of annual energy losses and depreciation on the cost of conductors to improve productivity given the maximum current carrying capacity and acceptable voltage levels. Simulations are carried out on 69-bus radial distribution network using genetic algorithm approaches to show the accuracy as well as the efficiency of the proposed solution technique.

  • Classical molecular dynamics (MD) simulations using a scaled OSS2 potential originally derived from ab initio calculations are used to study the radial distribution functions of water. The original OSS2 water potential is shown to represent a glassy or an ice at ambient temperature, but the diffusion coefficient increases on increasing the temperature of the system or decreasing the density. This suggests scaling the OSS2 potential. The O-O, O-H, and H-H radial distribution functions and the corresponding coordination numbers for the scaled OSS2 potential, obtained by MD simulation, are in good agreement with the experiment results and calculations for the SPC/E water potential over a range of temperatures.

  • The aim of this study is to provide fundamental informations that make it possible to use a cool stream and a hot stream simultaneously. We changed the pressure of compressed air that flows into a tube, the inner diameter of orifice that a cold stream exits, and the mass flow rate ratio. And in each case, we measured the temperature of a cold stream and a hot stream in each exit of a tube. Also we measured the axial and the radial temperature distribution in internal spare of a tube. From the study, fellowing conclusive remarks 7an be made. First, As the number of nozzles increase, separation point move into the hot exit. Second, When we use guide vane type nozzle, the axial temperature distribution constant over the 0.75 of air mass flow rate radio. Third, When we use Spiral type nozzle, axial and radial temperature distribution in the inner space is higher than another nozzle. Fourth, Axial and radial temperature distribution in the inner space vortex-tube is determined by separation point. And separation point is moved by changing of air mass flow rate ratio. At last, A heating apparatus is possible far vortex-tube to use.

  • The structure of a power distribution system will change in a loop configuration such as in the case of a smart grid. If power distribution system changes radial to loop form, the structure may have to be changed significantly. Therefore, we analyzed the reliability indices and calculated a CIC(Customer Interruption Cost) for the loop power distribution system. The power distribution system reliability depends on the protection scheme. This study is applied to the current protection scheme method and is compared with each model. When the CIC was evaluated, most studies performed calculations only for sustained interruptions. However, in actuality, momentary interruption frequencies occurred more than sustain interruptions. Thus, it is occurred the CIC additively. Therefore, we evaluated a CIC including momentary interruption, for each model, and then compared with MAIFI(Momentary Average Interruption Frequency Index)

  • Recently, the radial distribution system is operating as one-way power flow. These are popular because of their simple design and relatively low cost. However, radial systems are sensitive to outages due to single contingencies. Also, reliability of supply is becoming increasingly important. Accordingly, an appearance of the loop distribution system is inevitable and the other countries such as Macau, Florida, Taiwan are actively working on. The reliability of distribution system is estimated with reliability indices. In this paper, comparing with the radial distribution system, we evaluate and analyse the reliability of loop distribution system quantitatively considering directional relay.
